      I've received a question about the Port definition in PO header. 

     Since it's only defined in suppliers table but there is no place to
input and the definition is varchar(200). And when we input it in the
PO_header.php, it will not be kept. And the code said it's should be
locations' loccode. And the port defined in purchorders is varchar(50). 

     I believe about definition has conflict. My question is what the actual
purpose of this field? If it's supplier's port, we should revise
suppliers.php. 

     Any comments are highly appreciated!

        Thank you for your reply. 

        After considering your comments and studying the scripts again, I've
found a way out like this:

        The scope of journal to restate:
              1) Invoice to debtors;
              2) Invoice to suppliers;
              3) GRNs received;
        The journal to add is:
              1) Item Cost Update

        Before we restate those journals, we have to reverse(Credit) those
wrong journals. So the procedure should be like this:

          1) Credit all those invoices to debtors involved. ( Return all of
those items to respect locations).
          2) Credit all those invoices to suppliers involved. (Reverse all
of those invoiced items to grns-suspend account).
          3) Reverse all those grns involved. 
          Here we come to the point where the mistake happened.
          4) Update Items cost by the StockCostUpate.php scripts. It'll
generate relative journals. 
          Then we have a correct base to restate those transactions:

          1. Receive goods to grns.
          2. Invoice those grns against the suppliers.
          3. Confirm_Invoice to debtors.
       So up to now, every recovered. 

        Does this procedure right?

Hi Bob,

Where we can I prefer webERP to adopt least effort/data entry work 
flows. I accept that there are places where more data entry is required 
if you wish to build in double checks/authorisation. However, many 
businesses cannot afford additional personnel to double key and separate 
layers of staff to authorise picks etc... webERP is more aimed at 
businesses where the personnel doing the picking are also producing the 
invoice. I like the idea of the invoice without prices for a packing 
slip with actual quantities where the hand written quantities on the 
packing slip are not sufficient.

The scenario you propose, I think this is a worthy modification but 
possibly one that should be either an option in config or perhaps a 
special case for your business. It is adding significant complexity that 
I would rather avoid in the standard version.

Hi Exson,

For the transactions you describe the Standard Cost and Weighted Average 
cost journals are the same.

So each journal needs to be restated at the correct cost

When goods are received the entry is:

DR stock at standard x quantity received
CR GRN suspense

However, the standard at the time the goods are recieved is recorded in 
the GRN record - so when the purchase invoice is entered only the amount 
recorded in the GRN record is reversed - DR GRN suspense, CR account 
payable control DR/CR purchase price variance - so when the invoice 
comes in another journal needs to be done to correct the variance - if 
using weighted average then the variances is posted the stock value and 
value recalculated - i.e. the cost will fix itself.

When goods are sold the entries are:

DR COGS @ standard x quantity
CR Stock @ standard x quantity

            But I'm still feel uncertain of this solution. It's not so
simple and powerful to meet webERP's style.  I've coded part of them and
we've developing a similar solution for a client. But it seems not so
generic. 

            The purpose of this feature is to improve the communication
between sales and warehouse, accountant and warehouse. 
            The original one in webERP now from Tim has provide a very smart
solution. The weak point is that there is no place for warehouse to provide
the picked items data. 
            A simple solution maybe like this:

            1. System automatically create a batch of Picking lists
according to some rules. The most important data is Serial/Batch No, A FIFO
rules maybe followed. But sometime this cannot be followed for those
warehouse keeping not so great, to pick according to serial no will be quite
time consuming. 
            2. Then warehouse people can modify those auto generated one to
confirm it. 
            3. Sales or accountants invoice it according to the confirmed
invoice. 
           
             Any idea are appreciated!

I like this.  1 Comment, Currently there is a pick list function - I am not 100% sure it works but it attempts to do something similar.  This should probably be disabled or replaced with this.  The output of that function is very nice though - something similar should be available for picking in the warehouse.  Also - another document (same format ok) but called Packing List should be able to be generated based on what is picked (including lot/serial)

     It's quite strange that you seems like to do it manually. But here in China, people like to manage it by system. Only delivery notes will be printed out. 
     I think it's quite import for lot/serial items controlled items. Since if the house keeping is not so efficient, the lot/serial no must from warehouse, otherwise, it's a disaster for them to retrieve those items assigned in invoice. 
    So we've design a new procedure: Pick (ship) request=> Pick Request Authorize=>Pick status(Actual quantity picked)=>Issue Invoice according to Pick request( Update warehouse items status)=>Pick Request(close) after actual shipment. 
     
    I'm worrying about that this seems broken webERP's simple and concise style.

I see other cases and I fixed, but I see two other problems:

1. On "config" table, for the field confname='ItemDescriptionLanguages', we
have a coma (,) at the end in field confvalue (e.g.
''en_US.utf8,fr_FR.utf8," --last comma--). That causes that
ItemDescriptionLanguagesArray has n+1 languages. How we fix this?

2. When there is no translated description field, it is not possible to
update. We have to delete all translations and inset all the translations.

     I think it's quite import for lot/serial items controlled items. Since
if the house keeping is not so efficient, the lot/serial no must from

assigned in invoice. 
    So we've design a new procedure: Pick (ship) request=> Pick Request
Authorize=>Pick status(Actual quantity picked)=>Issue Invoice according to
Pick request( Update warehouse items status)=>Pick Request(close) after
actual shipment. 
     
    I'm worrying about that this seems broken webERP's simple and concise
style.

[WebERP-developers] Does customer statement need more details?

       I've received some feedback from Chinese users that they hope the
statement with more details such as items code, quantity, delivery date etc
in customer statements. 

       Is it a special request or it's a general need? 

       Any comments will be highly appreciated!
