Well it seems like an improvement over ipage - but it seems to depend on 
the time of day as to when other web-users sites may be hitting the 
server... still more than adequate for our humble hosting needs :-)

We use godaddy.com and there is a HUGE difference between a shared hosting environment and their VPS program. We run production on VPS and our sandbox on shared.

We used godaddy for several years and it was very good, reasonable speed, reasonable price and reliable and then it all went bad and got so slow it was almost unuseable. We had a premium shared hosting account and my guess is that the server got so slow because too many accounts were hosted on it over time, or, one or two of the accounts were really taxing it. Anyway, we changed to hostgator which has been a major improvement. Complaints to godaddy about speed seem to go in circles and they kept saying that it must be our software (weberp).

I am picking that hostgator may get too slow over time if they over sell space on the particular server we are on at the moment. It seems that it is hard to convince these companies to shift a site to server that is less stressed, best to just start a new account and shift when it happens.

Hi Phil:

I've been using Hostgator for the last 7-8 years. Excellent customer
service. I use a "baby croc" (or similar name) shared hosting and they are
open to adapt details to your particular needs.

So, yes, I think it's a wise move to move to Hostgator.

Whoops no - it looks like for manufactured items the StockCostUpdate.php 
script the material cost is always hidden

I've made a small modification around line 170:

I can't see a good reason why this is not allowed? Of course each time 
you make some the cost will be over-ridden based on the BOM as described 
and then updated based on the variance on manufacture once the WO is closed.

clever for me as it uses recursive calls to UpdateCosts - so probably 
nobbled by suhosin/PHP security.

However, with

could it be that the user does not have access to page Security token 
10? To allow stock cost updates?

weberp/Z_BottomUpCosts.php is not updating the standard cost.

For item AACM-PA-2G-20110214 it shows a standard cost of $27.94

When we look at the costed BOM it shows a cost of $94.58

When we run weberp/StockCostUpdate.php?StockID=AACM-PA-2G-20110214 we are
not able to edit/change the Standard Material Cost Per Unit, it is a display
only field.

Is there someplace else that we need to look to change the Standard Material
Cost?

We do not build this part on a daily basis, rather due to economies of scale
we have to build a 6 month supply of this WIP part, i.e. our sub-tiers need
to have minimum economic run quantities in the 1,000's.  We will not be
making more of this part for a few months.  We would like to have our costs
correct for items being built using these parts.

This is just one example of a part with the wrong standard cost.

We have not modified any of the code involved.  I have sent Exson all of the
code that we have modified: Scripts with customized quote/invoice formats
and packing slips based on actual invoice, change to invoice data entry to

Each time you create a WO for the item the system recalculates the 
standard cost expected and updates the cost based on the BOM - producing 
GL journals as necessary to revalue the stock. When you receive 
completed items against this work order they will be valued at this cost 
and the WIP reduced by the value of finished goods received.

When you close the WO the cost of received/completed manufactured items 
is compared against the cost of the components issued to the WO and the 
variance written off.

You can change the standard cost at any time with the cost change utility.

For now we are using OpenVMS to host webERP.  Currently we can edit/maintain
webERP code directly on OpenVMS, changing to TWIG will eliminate such a
capability.  We would need to move all code maintenance to windows.  In
addition, there would be two sets of code that need to be maintained: the
TWIG code and the PHP code.  Since many would not have access to TWIG, their
changes would only be in PHP.

While there are benefits to TWIG, unless it can be universally used, the
added maintenance complexity does not appear worth the benefits.  Is there a
means to easily back PHP and HTML code changes into TWIG?

webERP is fast, the code is in general easy to read and modify.  Better
efforts might be made in eliminating duplicate code to be replaced with
subroutines or objects.

vendors is displayed with each vendor's status, i.e. preferred or not.  The
additional status would allow for better information with respect to
vendors.  In addition, we deal in areas where there is government control,
e.g. Aircraft Engines, Surgical Instruments, etc. It is necessary to qualify
vendors for certain items.  By having status flags, maintained by the
appropriate staff, allows people with limited knowledge of the vendors to
make a reasonable choice.

Appropriate staff would manually modify vendor status.  We routinely get
calls from customers requiring annual updates on certifications and
capabilities.

There are times when one of our engineers is at a customer site and needs
something shipped from a vendor immediately.  Staff trying to obtain the
item, don't necessarily know all of the vendors.  If the preferred vendor is
out of stock, they need to know who is approved and go through the list with
some confidence that they will get a properly certified item.

This change would allow for capturing knowledge in the database rather than
relying on possibly one person's recollection or a totally separate
database.

Depending on other's needs, we would view this as a nice to have feature.
