I can understand that you have a version for Android, but I would like to develop myself version, I mean, I need your authorization for use your images and take you main idea about how the game works, because I want to do a program but taking your idea, what I would like to do is like the same game but with new functionality for example: the conversion from binary to decimal and from decimal to binary, also I want to work with the hexadecimal and other conversions, but taking you main idea and if I cannot take your images, I just want you authorization for take the main idea and develop myself version, but with your copyright. Please I beg you, give me your authorization, it is for my project and I will be forever grateful with you. Being all for now, I await a reply Yours sincerely: Juan Martínez. |

Universidad Veracruzana Ixtaczoquitlán, Veracruz, México Email: ju4...@ho... October 11th, 2013 Faculty of Accounting and Administration Dear Sirs. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Juan Martínez Blanco and I am from Veracruz, Mexico. I am a computer science student in the fifth semester and I am realizing a project for the school. The main objective of this letter is for asking about the TuxMath project, because I would like to do an application like yours but an application for a cellphone with Android Operating System, I would like to use the tools that you use for develop it, of course with all the copyrights that it has. The project is for the school and I will not try to sell it or something like that, accordly to the free software principles, I just want to make that software for educational purposes and help to other people to learn the basic things about mathematics; specially the children. Well, for the development of my project I will need your game and put into my application but with myself libraries using the license of basic for android what is the program where I develop my applications, I have some questions: Is the SDL library necessary for the game? If it is necessary, Can I use it for my application? I will put it and I will not modify and I agree to respect the copyright like I have already said before, May I use the pictures of your game? Almost everything is going to be like in your game, but for a cellphone, I just want your authorization for use it. Being all for now, I await a reply Yours sincerely: Juan Martínez. |

As of yet, Tux Math does not its own mechanism to choose a language - it just follows the system locale, so I haven't yet been able to test the translation. Is there a recognized "zam" locale for Zapotec that just isn't in Debian for some reason? Thanks, David |

Hi all! Nalin Sathyan has been selected to develop accessibility extensions for tuxmath and tuxtype, being me his mentor. Since I don't know what polices you have about giving write access to the alioth repositories, (I am more involved in Tux Paint and even myself haven't access to alioth) i am asking what is your prefered way to deal with this, Should Nalin be granted on a new branch on alioth? or instead he has to clone the repos on say github and develop his work there? Another question is that Nalin has to develop too a braille tutor, and I wonder if the input method that we use in Tux Paint for corean, japanese... could be adapted to braille. So How is the current state of Input Method in Tuxtype and Tuxmath? I see, Input Method is sequential and Braille is a matter of typing up to 6 keys at once so... The last question for now, what is the right place to provide cflags for espeak? I've just directed him to configure.ac, hope I haven't mislead him. Thanks Pere |

Made some changes. I would like to write "Tux Math"(without multiplayer) , "Tux Typing" and "Tux Paint" with HTML5 and then modify it for mobile devices using phonegap API too. Hello, Tux Math developers, I'm a third grade student from Immanuel Kant Baltic federal university, study at the mathematical department (on branch of Computer Science) and I really want to participate in your project. I want to implement migration to SDL 2.0. Your team interested in me becouse i have good experience in SDL: I worked on my own 2d engine on C++ + SDL 1.2 (not only for games) and have some succes with use it in different spheres (basically as my own instrument of visualization, but also i tried to make some game with it). Now I start the rewriting of my engine on SDL+OpenGL(basic grafic functions are working). Before openGL it was crossplatform. Also I know and use C++ (mostly C) from 1st grade (now I'm 3rd). Have 3 years experience of participating in contests(sport programming), have my own 3d redactor on C# and have some experience in working with unfamiliar code(tons of C# code). Familiar with SVN and TFS, now learning git. My favorite IDE is CodeBlocks. Also i started to learn difference between SDL1.2 and SDL 2.0. Also know HTML and Javascript, have my own little JS game in the internet. I love coding) I want to apply my skills in real opensource project and i like your project. Now I downloaded from git and compiled t4k_common and tux math on Ubuntu. In windows I have problem, application doesn't work on it(Windows 7 x64). Now I study the code. Have some ideas for a few TODO. https://google-melange.appspot.com/gsoc/proposal/review/google/gsoc2013/vincentolaw/1 Now I have submited proposal. Sorry for late message, I was first involved in the GSoC. Thank you for time, that you spent on me! Yours, Ivan Medyansky. |

Hi Iona, Tux Math mobile has been written in NME/Haxe, which allows us to target both Android and iOS. We are looking to add more features, including i18n, debugging support, addition and improvements in the game mechanics. The end result should be a polished product that we can release on Android/iOS stores. There are some open issues you can try out - https://github.com/tux4kids/tuxmathmobile/issues. Hello, My name is Ioana. I would like to work at Tux Math within the GSoC program. I read on the IdeasList page that you would like to write Tux Math for mobile devices. I am a second yers student at University Politehnica of Bucharest and during my first semester of study I took a class on programming mobile devices. Ever since, I have worked at applications both on Android and iOS. So far, I have published two applications on the Android market. http://de.appbrain.com/app/sarbatori-fericite/ioana.pack http://de.appbrain.com/app/santas-tree/ioana.CULIC I have also worked at a research project consisting of an interactive whiteboard application on iPad uing the XMPP protocol, for three months. I would like to know if you are willing to rewrite the Tux Math for Android and iOS or you want to port it. I would also be courisous to know which platform are you more interested in: Android or iOS. Ioana |

Hi Tux Math developers, I'm a graduating senior at Elon University in North Carolina, moving on to graduate school in the fall at NC State. My undergraduate work has been in developing education video games, so I'm very interested in Tux Math. I'd love to pitch you an idea for a game and get feedback before the final application deadline on May 3rd. Since most of your games focus on arithmetic, I thought it might be good to offer one that transitioned kids into algebraic thinking. I present the idea with some mockup images below (sorry I'm not much of an artist), but if the images don't go through in the email, I've included links as well. The idea of the game is that we represent an equation as a series of blocks on either side of a dividing line (the equals sign): Mockup image link: http://sdrv.ms/ZVtvQ5 Blocks can either represent a variable (Tux, in this case is /x/), a number, or an operation (like +3 or x2). How the blocks are stacked up represents order of operations. Kids solve the equation (and free Tux) by dragging blocks from the left side of the equals sign to the other (which I thought would work well on the mobile platform). The catch is that when blocks cross the equals sign, they flip: addition becomes subtraction, multiplication becomes division, etc.). So by "dragging" +2 to the other side, I'm really subtracting both sides by 2. Mockup image link: http://sdrv.ms/ZVuAr7 Now the player needs to simplify the right side of the equation, which they can do by clicking on it: Mockup image link: http://sdrv.ms/ZVuVKu Once simplified, the two blocks (aka, the expression) combine into one number: Mockup image: http://sdrv.ms/ZVv1lf The player continues this until the left had side of the equation is empty except for the variable: Mock up link: http://sdrv.ms/ZVv7cE Mock up link: http://sdrv.ms/ZVvaoH At this point the player has solved the equation. In this case, x = 2. The original equation is still visible, so the player can check their work. Just like in other Tux Math games, the we can add story, score and time mechanics to make the gameplay more fun. One advantage is that the player doesn't necessarily have to understand algebra to play the game at first, but can just drag the blocks that can be moved and simplify expression with the arithmetic they've learned in earlier Tux games. But they are practicing algebra, and if they can make the connection back to the equation above, they can certainly apply it to the classroom. Thank you so much for you time, and I appreciate any and all feedback! -Thomas Price |

hi all, my son is doing his multiplication tables but i notice in the academy games the multiplier only goes up to 10. i saw the code defaults its set to 12 and option file also has 12 # Multiplication operands: # multiplier * multiplicand = product MIN_MULTIPLIER = 0 MAX_MULTIPLIER = 12 MIN_MULTIPLICAND = 0 MAX_MULTIPLICAND = 12 or are these settings not for the academy games? regards david |
