I hit the "Download" link as instructed, went to "Windows" and got the error. People who know nothing about programming will then just give up and not return, which means you will have less people testing the software and finding bugs for you. |

It's the official download link from the official Tuxmath page http://tux4kids.alioth.debian.org/tuxmath/index.php Unless this is not the official page? If I go to Sourceforge first, I can download there, but I'm thinking of the average user hitting your homepage and not being able to download. 11/05/2014 19:49, sgrìobh B Luchen: > AFAIK you shouldn't need an Alioth account just to download a file. Whenever I try to download a file here: https://alioth.debian.org/frs/?group_id=31080 I am prompted to create an account and login. Is there a specific reason for that, or did someone mess up a setting? |

Hello all: I would like to contribute to the Portuguese translation. There is one option that needs changing and the help messages are in English. Would it be possible? Also, Pedro Amorim, the portuguese translator, talks about a patch?!? Best regards Rui Fernandes |

Hi all, I like this program. But i get error message when i launch the TuxMath at Windows XP with VIA C3 Processor The error message: TuxMath.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. I tried at other PCs running Windows XP with Intel processors, and they are working fine. So, is it TuxMath does not support VIA CPU or i need to install something else to make it working? By the way, i did install Tux Paint and Tux Typing on the PC with VIA C3 processor and they are working. Only TuxMath is not working. Could anyone please help? Many thanks in advance. |

That sounds intriguing - I'm not aware of anything like that. On a slightly different note, I wonder if there would be a role for a Newtonian mechanics game that would be largely an Angry Birds clone, with more explicit display and manipulation of the equations and variables involved (acceleration, velocities, angles, mass, force, etc.) to make it more educational (my daughter is in high school now ;) Regards to Aaditya, Deepak, Pere, and everyone carrying on the effort! I really would love to be a more active participant but "real life" doesn't allow me the time to do so for the immediate future. Hey Brandon, I have a general idea about this, Which I learned about from Zed A Shaw's "Learn code the hard way" . have implemented it on my own like here, https://github.com/KarthikNayak/experiments/blob/master/c/lcthw/ringbuffer/tests/ringbuffer_tests.c but would need a little guidance, as per the TuxMath Requirements. -Karthik On Thu, Feb 6, 2014 at 11:03 PM, Brendan Luchen <che...@gm...>wrote: > karthik, > > Unit tests sound great. karthik, Unit tests sound great. Tux(Math|Type) have accumulated some technical debt along with the features, so this could be a big win. Do you have a rough idea of how you'd go about it? -Brendan On Thu 06 Feb 2014 05:56:17 AM PST, karthik nayak wrote: > Hi all , > Was just going over the IdeasList for melange 2014. > Very keen on making unit tests for TuxMath, have learned how to > implement unit tests before. Hi Tux Developers, It looks like Google Summer of Code applications for mentoring organizations are open now and due on 2/14 (see below). Has anyone started this process? If so, please let me know if I can be any help. I can also offer up a potential project. TuxBlocks is a cross platform math game that I developed during the last GSOC, with Aditya Maheshwari as a mentor: https://github.com/thomaswp/tuxblocks. While a working version has been released, it's still under active development, and there's a student working on it currently who would be interested in applying for GSOC this summer. When we run tuxblocks first time using "mvn install" it downloads the number of files. Please tell me what kind of process it is. Which files are downloaded and what is the requirement.

I would add that the project I worked on through Google Summer of Code, TuxBlocks [https://github.com/thomaswp/tuxblocks] , is also cross platform (PC, HTML5 Canvas/WebGL, Android and possible iOS), using the PlayN framework [http://code.google.com/p/playn/]. If you're doing any future cross-platform game development I highly recommend it. -Thomas On 12/2/2013 11:37 PM, arshpreet singh wrote: > Hi. > Here is Arshpreet Singh a great lover of tux4kids projects. Hi. Here is Arshpreet Singh a great lover of tux4kids projects. From the last mail discussions I am getting that the more development interests of community is towards the creation of a cross-platform application which will be able to run on all the platforms/devices. I was keeping this option all the time. Here is my suggestion about further development: http://goo.gl/e5hjon There are various development examples of this app is also available. Please give your valuable feedback/comments.

Forgot to CC to the dev lists, sorry if you get double. Hi all! For those who don't know what it is http://www.google-melange.com/gci/homepage/google/gci2013 is a Google program designed to approach children 13-17 to open source We had yet participated on 2010 if I recall right. Is there interest in participating this year? If so, who are available to mentor/admin? I can fill the application to participate if needed, but I think i will not have time to mentor. Basically we need to provide some 20 small tasks just for the application, that should increase later up to 150-300 for the program if we get selected. We need too a backup admin and a list of mentors. There are just few days left, so if there is any interest, please speak quick. I've just created a project for the tasks including the same people who were at gsoc, feel free to add there. http://code.google.com/p/google-code-in-2013-tux4kids/wiki/Tasks?ts=1382689698&updated=Tasks Also, for gsoc students, if you want to participate in GCI as mentors you are very welcome, you can add any tasks that makes a benefit to your project. Just ask to be added Thanks Pere |

Hi Juaan TuxMath is an open source application and you can always fork this project and contribute to it. If you are using the original source code then you cannot change it's license but if it's a rewrite from the scratch, you can decide which license to use. I will encourage you to use MIT License and make your work open source so that other can learn from it.
