Maybe you can get some inspiration from Frogatto or Wesnoth. They keep a list of languages in a central languages.cfg file, so language names can be in the languages themselves. Information on font sets for non-European languages could also be kept there. Here's what we have for Frogatto: |

That's fine for Linux users, but not for the average parent who will be running Windows. Detect Locale in Windows is also a bad idea, because I will be translating into a minority language. 15.03.2013 15:01, sgrìobh arshpreet singh: > > > On Tue, Mar 12, 2013 at 7:08 PM, Fòram na Gàidhlig > <fi...@fo... <mailto:fi...@fo...>> wrote: > > Hi everybody, > > I am looking at Open Source games to translate into Scottish Gaelic and > I think Tux of Math Command is a worthy candidate. > > I have already found the PO files, but no option to actually choose the > language in-game. > > > try by running the following command directly in Linux terminal. > $ LANG=pa_IN.UTF-8 tuxmath > pa_IN is for Punjabi language.you have to find for Gaelic. > > -- > > > Thanks > Arshpreet singh > http://arshpreetsingh.wordpress.com/ |

Hi everybody, I am looking at Open Source games to translate into Scottish Gaelic and I think Tux of Math Command is a worthy candidate. I have already found the PO files, but no option to actually choose the language in-game. Since Gaelic is a minority language and most users will have an English language (or even German or Russian language) operating system, Detect Locale Is Evil. Could you please look into adding a menu option somewhere, so users can choose their language? Thanks GunChleoc |

Hi Ben Thanks for pointing out but NME doesn't support SVG images very well. The amount of details that we have in images can't be represented very easily in SVG format and even if we are able to do it then they will be way slower then the bitmaps. In-fact the spaceship we have is originally created in svg format but later I have to convert it into bitmap. Best Deepak |

perhaps it's a good idea to look at vector graphics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_graphics It allows one source to be resized for low performance cost and keep it sharp. 2013/2/24 deepak aggarwal <dee...@gm...>: > Hi Siddharth > > Thanks for evaluating the app. I know there are some bugs in it and it has > large scope for improvements. Hi Siddharth Thanks for evaluating the app. I know there are some bugs in it and it has large scope for improvements. I has been almost a year since I have worked on it and in the mean time NME has improved a lot. So I think we can release it in play store after we remove all the bugs. About unified download, It's not very easy to make a unified app as there are many images and graphics files and re-sizing them on device will hurt the performance. So the only solution we have right now is to have different apps for different resolution and I think this won't be a problem once we release it on the play store. Hi I am Tarun Sapra , currently I am pursuing my BE in Information Technology from Netaji Subhas Institute Of Technology , Dwarka , New Delhi . I am interested in developing TuxMath for iOS " from scratch " . I have played the android version and I beleive that I can develop more entertaining and stable version for iOS with a whole new plot. I am aware of GPL license conflict with apple ToS , but I've seen various apps in the Apple Appstore which are under GPL , and few of them are - tuiopad <https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/tuiopad/id412446962?mt=8> - piwik-mobile<https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/piwik-mobile/id385536442?mt=8> I don't think that using resources which are covered under GPL would be problematic . I was also thinking to consider LGPL for licensing. Still if you do not feel comfortable , then I would like to volunteer for the graphic re-designing work too. I have done considerable work with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and completely familiar and comfortable with the working of all their tools.I ensure you that whole app will be easily recognizable as Tux4kids application. -- Tarun Sapra Undergraduate student(IT) NSIT |

Kudos Deepak. I tested this on Nexus 7 (1280x800), and works great. I would second Pere's suggestion on having a unified download (detecting dimensions at run-time). Here's a detailed review of the app 1. The use of planets for the topics interface is interesting, the graphics for different planets are quite detailed. Occasionally, sliding through the topics wasn't smooth. The interface giving an indication of how many topics are there would be nice. 2. The zoom-in animation when selecting a specific topic to play is great. Kudos! 3. The metro style UI for showing lesson within a topic and buttons is done well, but don't seem to fit well with the planets theme. I like the rotation sliding effect for switching through lessons since it gives a view of the total number of lessons. A similar sliding effect on the topic interface (1.) could act as a good indicator for the overall topics. 4. There is a bug with the achievement display for lessons: Scores earned for a particular lesson within a topic are reflected in the lesson with the same index for other topics. 5. The game interface for a lesson is quite fun. Showing digits on each side of the screen is a good design choice for the mobile devices. 6. In terms of performance, the FPS is almost always in the range of 55-60. No lags while playing sound, animation. 7. The "credits" button is completely out of the navigation flow. I could see it only when I hit the system's "back" button. 8. Finally, what is the role of Tux? I don't seem to find him. Anyone looking for bugs/feature requests, this should be a great starting place. Wow, very nice :) Runs fine on my navlet at 800x480 There is a box left showing the FPS, I supose you used it for developping. > Please download APK file that have resolution same as that of your mobile. > Naming convention: tux4math"width" "height".apk > e.g. tux4math320 240.apk for mobile having resolution 320X240 Does people usually know the resolution of their device?, would it be possible a unified download? Any chances this could go to http://tux4kids.alioth.debian.org/tuxmath/download.php or to google play? A good work!!! :) Pere |

Hi Guys I am publishing the mobile app that I had created during GSOC. You can download it from my Dropbox account if you want. I know I should have released it long ago but I was very busy. So sorry for that. You can download application for android platform from the link given below: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/15ugq3nr1dfoy6n/esMxWAKvpM Please download APK file that have resolution same as that of your mobile. Naming convention: tux4math"width" "height".apk e.g. tux4math320 240.apk for mobile having resolution 320X240 And for those who are interested in it's source code. They can download it from: https://bitbucket.org/deepak_aggarwal/tux4kids It contains the entire source code and all the Photoshop, blender etc files. Deepak Aggarwal |
