Matthew, thanks very much for your help, I will try hard to make this package working, and tell you if I succeed or not. Valerio, I've updated the unfs-server.tgz package to include the README from the source. Type "man unfs-server" (file is located in /usr/doc/unfs-server) within trinux. You will also need the portmap.tgz package all of which are available at http://trinux.sf.net/pkg/. I was never able to get it working last November when I built the packages, but I didn't try too hard. This is a link to the project. http://freshmeat.net/projects/nfs-server/?topic_id=142 - mdf > > Hello, > > I tried to find the configuration files for rpc.nfsd contained in > > unfs-server.tgz, but they aren't included in the package, and I can't > figure > > which files I should modify to configure it. > > Any help is really appreciated. > > > > Thanks. > > > > Valerio > > > > |

That is an easy/quick one -- vs. some of the other traffic lately :( see http://trinux.sf.net/pkg/bash2.tgz. You'll need to obviously rename bash.tgz to bash2.tgz in your package list file. I haven't tested it yet, so let me know. - mdf |

Does anyone out there know where I can get some bash 2.x binaries for Trinux? I have a few scripts which require it and the one in the pkgs seems to be 1.x. I really don't want to have to compile them myself. Maybe someone can submit a bash2.tgz package? |

Hello, I tried to find the configuration files for rpc.nfsd contained in unfs-server.tgz, but they aren't included in the package, and I can't figure which files I should modify to configure it. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks. Valerio |

Hello, I need to set up NFS server on floppy-booted trinux machine, I downloaded unfs-server.tgz from http://www.io.com/~mdfranz/trinux/pkg/ ,the package is small enought to go on the boot floppy. Which files are needed to configure rpc.nfsd ? Thanks, Valerio |

Hallo, David, Du meintest am 15.06.02 zum Thema Re: [Trinux-talk] FYI.. Bootable CD-Rom with X server: >> http://www.timburt.com/KNOPPIX_V2.2-BETA-14-05-2002-EN.iso > Knoppix is indeed great. I am working with Trinux (floppy version) and with Knoppix. Trinux is more flexible - in the Iast months I have found some machines where Knoppix didn't recognize the net card or the SCSI controller. And trinux (booted from 2 or 3 diskettes) boots quicker, and I can walk with the diskettes from one computer to the next - the Knoppix CD must be mounted all the time the machine is running. You may want to know that version 3.0 was distributed at Linux Tag, however it does not seems to be available on any of those german the ftp site. Knoppix contain also security tools, gcc and other development tools, and don't forget about the fact that it is Debian based. You may want check the "french" Demo Linux. David GLAUDE |

Hi, I just started using Trinux with the LaBrea package, and wanted to set it up so that I can view the logfile output with a web browser, such as with the LaBrea::Tarpit perl script mentioned on the LaBrea homepage. Has anyone implemented this with their Trinux LaBrea package, or implemented something similar? And if so, what did you do to implement it? Or does anyone have a better solution for remote viewing of LaBrea's log output? Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance, Adam |

That's not nice. Remember, he had to be vague for security reasons. It's nice that people see trinux and the trinux community as stable and trustworthy. Why else would he have asked us to help in these important matters? And he's offering quite a large sum of money too, just for doing a good deed. Personally, I've just sent him all of my bank details, the deeds to my house, a signed contract and the rights to my immortal soul. I stumbled upon this the other day. A bootable CDRom Linux with Xwindows and all the goodies you could want in a workstation (no server apps). (Even a working mp3 player, and two complete MS office compatible suites!) It does an excellent job of adjusting to available hardware.. on the fly. http://www.knoppix.org Very impressive. These folks are in Germany, and do not have a US mirror, so I have mirrored their english version ISO on my website for Trinux users only. http://www.timburt.com/KNOPPIX_V2.2-BETA-14-05-2002-EN.iso I hope you enjoy... BTW, If you click the links in the browser that is launched upon boot, you can view the original posting from Linus, announcing that he is working on a new operating system.... -- -------------------- Timothy Burt Internet Specialist |

Hello, I have trinux booting off of a small hda1 partition using syslinux, my trouble comes from it being unable to find items and settings. I am using the ide version. Basically I installed syslinux and then copied the rest of the files off of the floppy image ( that functions great ). The only difference may be the version of syslinux, the actual cfg file is the same though (trouble?). My setup can't find additional packages. It checks both partitions on my HD, and I have the files in c:\, c:\trinux, c:\trinux\packages and d:\. Any ideas about the correct dir? To make things workable I have to load dhcpcd from floppy and copy the tux dir from the boot partition (hda1) to /etc/. Then I can use getpkg to grab other needed programs. I have also tried using freedos and loadlin, a lot more hassle and the same trouble. It is frustrating when the floppy method shows me how great the distro can be. Does anyone else boot from the HD / store packages on a HD? Thanks in advance for any help. Paul |

Hello, I am testing out Trinux software. I believe it is stated in=20 documentation that the kernel already supports NE2000, I have tried it and there is an error message: "unable to find eth0 ...." I have tested out with tomsrtbt software and it is able to pick up the network card. Also does Trinux support Dlink220 ? Trinux is also not able to detect this card. Thanks in advance ! |
