[funambol-users] Correct Last_Update entry

Hey guys,

I'm having some trouble being able to manually add an entry to the DB and get the record to sync down into the various devices. I flipped on the MySQL general logging for a bit, added a appointment using the web demo, then synced. After looking at the logs, I realize that I'm missing some sort of fundamental understanding of how the last_update entry works in fnbl_pim_calendar.

Could someone give me a real high level idea of how I go about getting that value? I think that it's coming from the fnbl_last_sync table, but I'm not exactly sure. Is this last_update field the issue that's causing the sync engine to skip my records?

thanks for your help. I ran a sync with log level 3 (debug) again and here's
the log (short and sweet):

(Not what i usually got before though)

So you are lucky. I Tried to install SP1 to vs2005 and WM SDK 5 and 6 
several times in different combinations, but without success.
There is no problem with WM 6.0 SDK platform - everything goes ok.
(I using WM 6.0 SDK Refresh packs)

After WM 5.0 SDK  installation I don't have defined "Windows Mobile 5.0 
for ... SDK" platform, but "... SDK 2".

There is "... SDK" in build manager in active platform check box, but 
while I tried to set up target platform there wasn't such platform. When 
I tried define new platform for target manually i noticed that there is 
"... SDK 2" not "... SDK".

A bit complicated... :D

I keep on trying...

I upgraded to the latest version of the ZimbraConnector, but it stil doesn't work :(

the first communitcation between client and server is ok.
the client send the request and the server answer to the client

so the MsgID 1 is ok .. now in the log should be the MsgID2 from the client

I think something happens when the client parse the Msg1 from the server.

[funambol-users] Run.bat

Hi! For windows I propose following change of the run.bat
* First add an setting for the maximum memory, as the default value in some
cases (like the ant-build) is not enough. I have already some outofmemory
exceptions.

* remove the "servicebin" command in the last line. What does it do? It's
not a command on windows and it not an exe somewhere. It was added by
damencho with the comment "felix 1.0.1"

Hi Gibi,

Thanks for you help.

I check out the inbox-listener log and the problem was the jdbc
driver. So i made a copy of the driver in almost every folder (I will
verify which one is the correct later) and the error stopped.

I got my emails in the cache table and then in my phone!!

check in the admin tool --> modules --> email in the account table (bottom, 
right) there is the button "cache".

this table has the ids of the emails that will be downloaded on the client. 
if the table is empty no emails will be downloaded.

if the table is empty you should check if the inbox-listner is ok. increase 
the log and check if there are some errors.

moreover check the time filter on the client. usual there is a filter "3 
days email". so just the email with date less than 3 days are downloaded. in 
the "cache"  table you can see the info about the date

Hi everyone,

My problem is the following.

I've installed Funambol v6.5.14 PIM & Email Bundle in a CentOS 4.2
with Postgresql 8.2 support, edited the install.properties in
/opt/Funambol/ds-server/install.properties then used the install.sh
and created the database structure.

I start the server with ./opt/Funambol/ds-server/bin/start.sh and
everything seems ok.

In the web browser I go to http://localhost:8080/funambol and
everything its ok, I can log in with admin.

I installed the Java client in a Nokia 6630 which its supported.

Created a username, email server and email account via Java Administrator

In the phone I can log in without problem, I can send emails but I
cant receive emails.

I don't know if I missed some configuration.

Can anyone help me??

 all-day events and tasks are saved in the DB as if they were starting at midnight UTC and ending at 23:59 UTC. Since your time offset is -4, an all-day event meant to start on April 17th is saved as if it was starting on April 16th at 8 PM in your time zone, ie as if it starts on April 17th at 00:00 UTC.
This MUST be interpreted as local-time information when it's retrieved from the DB, it's just a conventional format we use.

Hey Guys,

For the all day appointments, are the start and end times stored in GMT, or should they be corrected with the timezone in their EPOCH time entry in the DB? I synced these two appointments. The first piece is the start time in Outlook, the second is EPOCH time in the DB, and the third is the EPOCH time, converted back to my timezone:

1. All Day Event:
4/17/2008 All Day, 1208390400, Wednesday, April 16, 2008 8:00:00 PM
2. Timed Event
4/17/200/ 930am, 1208439000, Thursday, April 17, 2008 9:30:00 AM

I guess my big question is why there is this difference in the EPOCH times, as they're handled by Funambol. Is this just the rule for all day events or is there some other issue that I'm not fully understanding?

The appointments are showing up properly in the webdemo. I get the four hour offset when looking at the entries in the DB. For instance, April 12th is my birthday. I have two events. My Birthday (All Day) and My Birthday Party (4pm - 6pm)

My Birthday Party (dstart and dend) is 2008-04-12 16:00:00 / 2008-04-12 17:00:00

That four hour offset is making life tough on the web client I'm writing. It seems that maybe my query is wrong? Is the EPOCH time conversion not being done in the same fashion? When I pull out the dates as a unix_timestamp it still gives me the time with the -4 hr offset. (EST)

I took a look to your log and everything seems fine to me.
The all-day events are transferred correctly to the Server, so for
example if you should see them as all-day in the Server webdemo.
Where do you see those events shifted by 4 hours exactly?
Can you confirm that, if you modify one of those appointment on the
Server and sync back to Outlook, they are still all-day events?

Everything you say is correct except.....  repeating appointments created on 
the WM5 pda, DO show up properly in Lightning.

Creating a repeating event in Lightning is not getting transferred to the 
pda, the same event created on the pda gets transferred fine to the desktop.

The event in question is a meeting every 2 weeks on tuesdays from 1700-1900.

Just created a fri 1100-1200 test event and synced and it only shows up on 
the first friday on the pda side.  Event created on the pda side shows up 
properly in lightning.

What info do you need to troubleshoot?

Reinstalling Outlook doesn't seem to have worked. I'm going to try
reinstalling again this Friday as there were some errors during the
uninstall.

[funambol-users] timezone settings

Hi All,

I am trying to get the following to work:
calendar sync thunderbird <->funambol<-> Blackberry

My BB is in timezone Amsterdam, my funambol server also and thunderbird 
is.. indeed in Amsterdam.

When i enter an calender item with start time of 10:00 in thunderbird, 
and sync, the web demo client shows this as 12:00 hours. When i change 
the device (funambol device offcourse) and put it on amsterdam timezone 
and set the timezone conversion to ON, the web client shows the right 
data. When i sync the blackberry, i have to disable the timezone 
settings in the blackberry device (funambol device offcourse) to get the 
item from thunderbird into the blackberry on the right time. But if i 
add an apointment in the blackberry at 10:00, the item appears on 08:00 
hours in the web client and in thunderbird. I am completely lost at the 
moment and can't figure out what is wrong here.

Used stuff:
Funambol server 6.5.14 on debian linux
Blackberry 9700g with funambol plugin 3.0.8
Thunderbird on ubuntu linux with plugin 0.4.3 and lightning calendar 0.8

Any suggestions?

I'm trying to investingate on your problem...
you could do a couple of things to help me investigate...
- first of all try to set the log level to DEBUG to do this you have to
modify the
/private/var/mobile/.sync4j/evolution/funambol/spds/syncml/config.txt

to do this you need an ssh access to the iphone.
when you are modifying the settings just look for
# level of detail for log messages:
# - 0 (or unset) = INFO messages without log file, DEBUG with log file
# - 1 = only ERROR messages
# - 2 = also INFO messages
# - 3 = also DEBUG messages
loglevel = 2

change the value from 2 to 3... sync and send us the new log
- than you can tell me also your userid used on myfunambol so I can look
into the server logs to find your sync and see what happened
