Thank you, I now have SQL-Ledger running under Apache/RH7.2 I did have to change the owner/group for users and templates from nobody:nobody to apache. This installation will be running on a machine behind a firewall. Is the apache ownership of the subdirs a problem? Use Apache. I am dropping support for dnhttpd with the next release anyways. Too many incompatibility issues have cropped up since I added postscript and PDF support and stylesheets. I've installed Sql-Ledger for evaluation (private mode) and get the following error when I attempt to get it running (via admin.pl). I'm presented with a login screen (password only). When I try the password entered in my member file for root or a blank password I get the following. ----------- 400 Bad Request This error was encountered attempting to access the file you requested. As I only install software on my servers in package form I whipped up a quick RPM for sql-ledger. The RPM is for RedHat 7.2 and has the dependencies set for LaTex support. The package installs the guts into /var/www/sql-ledger. If you are not using the PDF output simply install with --nodeps or install the src RPM, edit the spec file, and recompile. The RPM will set the correct permissions on the templates and user directories for you. You will still need to setup Apache yourself. I am busy with the next RPM where I will automate that. I also will be trying to follow the 'packaging guide' as much as possible. You can get the RPMS from, http://www.itns.co.za/RPMS/ -- Greg |

The short answer is "ps and pdf only works in english currently"... Announcements contain hints not included with the distribution. If you want all possible hints from Dieter (besides mailing him directly) you will need to read both packaged documentation, web-based ChangeLog and mailinglist announcements. The following is from Dieter's announcement of version 1.8.3: > The templates are provided in English only. All foreign language > templates have to be translated yet. They are shipped so the program > won't generate a 'file not found' error. To correct the problem three different things needs to be worked out: 1) This is LaTeX related. Danish requires 8bit iso8859-1, other western european countries requires 8bit iso8859-15 and chinese probably some 16bit (double-byte) characterset. Someone knowledgeble about LaTeX and more-than-7bit charactersets please speak up! 2) "Translation aware" strings are located in locale/<language-code>. Edit the "all" file and run ./locales.pl which splits it into the other files. 3) Not all text is "translation aware". I believe all strings coming from the perl code itself is handled correctly now, but some text is hardcoded in the templates (which means if Dieter creates new templates it is not enough that locale is up-to-date). - Jonas -- Jonas Smedegaard (+45 40843136) http://dr.jones.dk/~jonas/ Spiff ApS (= IT-guide dr. One way to find out what is happening is to send the output to a file instead of piping it to your mailer. set $sendmail to ">/tmp/mail" and check what's in it, then pipe it to your mailer to see why it won't go. You don't say which mailer you use either. Other than going back to 1.8.2 there is no easy way to change emails back to inline. Hey all, I'm having a problem sending e-mail forms - they all go out as "empty" attachments. Everything shows up fine on screen, but when I output to email I get a confirmation that an email was sent, however the attachment contains no data. This is true for all forms, invoices, quotes/sales orders, etc. so its not likely an HTML problem in the templates. The code has changed quite a bit from 1.8.2 to .3 and I'm having a little difficulty following how this new one works - but my assumption would be that if it works on screen, it should email the same data. Is there an easy way to change the e-mail back to in-line (the way it was) rather than as an attachment? Perhaps that is casing some of the difficulty I am having. I haven't seen similar traffic on the list, has anyone else had this problem?? Thanks, Dave Ratte dr...@su... |

You can use the "Sales Order" for "Quotes" Hint: The translation mechanism also works for an English to English translation not just a foreign language. you probably need a \usepackage[latin1]{inputenc} in the templates.
just put it somewhere in the preamble.
Most of the tex templates are not translated.

The invoice is fine. It is however only a template for the HTML
output.(the ALl was at 96,3% - I translated it so I'm only missing one
word "audit control" - not it's at 99,8%) - not that it changes
anything.
The .tex template (for postscript and PDF output) is in pure english I
found out. It hasn't been translated yet. Off I go.
Perhaps you would like to collaborate with me on this?
I can easily translate the wording.. However I also want to change the
layout, and I'm brand new to LaTex so if you have any LaTex experience I
would be glad for some assistence.
Also in postscript, whatever genereates the postscript file, doesn't
take into account the chosen language. it should be told to use the
user-specified character set (f.ex. ISO-8859-15 (or -1) for danish).
I however haven't a clue as how to do this.

I translated the few missing words I could find, it's now up to 99,8% -
I am only missing one "Audit Control" - which I have to find out which
context it is used in, before I can translate it.
however this still doesn't fix the problem with english words in the
postscript output (which isn't a problem in the HTML output) - so I
don't think the problem has anything to do with missing translations.
Perhaps a template problem, or perhaps translation isn't done for
postscript output?

I found the file, and I added 3 missing words.
The word QTY was translated, and it works fine in the HTML output of an
invoice.
1) Howcome the postscript output doesn't use the ALL translations? bug?
2) =E6=F8=E5 (danish special characters - ISO-8859-15) works fine in HTML (=
on
screen), but not in .ps output? (I haven't tested PDF output, as it
doesn't work for me right now.
3) When the HTML invoice is emailed it's not put in HTML code, what
character set should be used to view it - thus =E6=F8=E5 only works if you
manually tell your viewer to use ISO-8859-15.

Hi again guys,
I tried to create a postscript invoice, and it worked fine.
I have to "problems" with it.
1) the letters =E6=F8=E5 (danish characters) were missing.
- how can I fix this?
2) the Qty. and other lines were not in danish=20
- how can I fix this?
p.s. I read in another post, that when there is no translation for
something, it gets written in english instead. Is that what happened in
2? if so, then if you could please tell me where I can fix this, I'll be
happy to add the necessary translation and send it back to you guys so
that everyone can have a completely danish invoice :-)

Hi Olaf (and the rest of the list), I got it working with tips from Jesper, Alexander and Martin. Thank you everybody. perhaps a good add-on to the sql-ledger README would be: If you just installed postgresql (as rpm only?) then do: createuser sqlledger -W > say yes to both questions and select a password. edit /etc/rc.d/init.d/postgresql (RH/MDK specific) so that the pg_ctl gets an extra option "-o -i" to tell postmaster process to listen on standard tcp port 5432. edit /var/lib/pgsql/data/pg_hba.conf and add line=20 > host all 127.0.0.1 255.255.255.255 password (this works if your httpd and postgresql are on the same server otherwise put your webservers IP instead of 127.0.0.1) follow rest of README and connect with the sqlledger user. Thanks everybody for the tips you gave me. I only need one more thing, to somehow enable the postmaster process to only listen on localhost (right now it listens to 0.0.0.0 - which is bad securitywise - even though there is access control and I do have an iptables firewall in front - but better safe than sorry, has always been my motto). Hello list, I've installed Sql-Ledger for evaluation (private mode) and get the following error when I attempt to get it running (via admin.pl). I'm presented with a login screen (password only). When I try the password entered in my member file for root or a blank password I get the following. ----------- 400 Bad Request This error was encountered attempting to access the file you requested. Additional information: Content-length header missing for POST request DNHTTPD/0.4.1 at localhost:8000 ----------- |

This is because of your settings. Play with the values. To get less with
space (0.5cm) at the top, I set \voffset at -2.0cm.
Btw. how can I insert a logo? I tried inserting an *.eps with
'\includegraphics{ }. Didn't work.
