A couple of questions that I think we should resolve before 1.0 final.

Should we use the Apache License, Version 2.0 instead - any Apache projects
released after March 1st is going to use the 2.0 version.  Also, shouldn't we
have a Contributor License Agreement for each developer if we are going to
assign the copyrights to the Spring Framework Project?

You can take a DefaultListableBeanFactory and read bean definitions into =
it via a JdbcBeanDefinitionReader; this is the recommended way to work =
with definition readers. The bean factory itself is not concerned with =
bean definitions formats anymore.

XmlBeanFactory is now just a convenience subclass that combines =
DefaultListableBeanFactory with XmlBeanDefinitionReader. In all other =
case, apply the corresponding reader to a separate =
DefaultListableBeanFactory instance.

An ApplicationContext could be quite easily implemented by subclassing =
AbstractApplicationContext, using a DefaultListableBeanFactory as =
underlying bean factory, and reading in bean definitions via =
JdbcBeanDefinitionReader.

[Springframework-developer] JdbcBeanFactory and JdbcApplicationContext

I don't see any implementations of JdbcBeanFactory and ApplicationContext in our code base, even though there is a org.springframework.jdbc.core.support.JdbcBeanDefinitionReader which is a standalone class.

It's not necessarily a bad argument though - it could just be that the runtime
environment is misconfigured - I think a JdbcResourceException (see previous
email) would be appropriate.

How about a new JdbcResourceException extending
DataAccessResourceFailureException.   Btw could we rename the latter to
DataAccessResourceException - FailureException sounds like a double negative :-)

DataAccessException confidently in all cases (which was why I changed =

I tested the Oracle and PostgreSQL incrementers - they work fine now.  I took
out the instance variable "sequenceQuery" since it was only set during
afterPropertiesSet - not always called if I create this programatically.  I
changed it to use getSequenceQuery() directly in the executeQuery() statement
instead.

I also fixed the SPR-50 issue regarding setNull for a named Array type.  For 1.1
we should add support for more complex types like REF and JAVA_OBJECT along with
ARRAY - I have not tested and I'm not sure we support all the different oddball
types for Oracle in particular.

Hello everyone,

I couldn't resist :-) and added the "last minute" new feature to JPetStore which demonstrates few things such as using MailSender, and implementing AfterReturningAdvice.

There is now a org.springframework.samples.jpetstore.aspect.SendOrderConfirmationEmailAdvice class which sends confirmation email with the order info to a customer using MailSender helper. This advice is of type MethodAfterReturningAdvice and fires after PetstoreFacade.insertOrder(Order) successfully returns, meaning that the Order has been successfully persisted.

Look at applicationContext.xml for bean definitions.

Let's remove all of the old Spring docs from the website, in particular =
the articles in the "Features" section. They're quite outdated, so I =
don't see the point in keeping them: The reference docs and my article =
in the Hibernate Wiki are far more comprehensive. I've removed all of =
them from CVS too, not including them in the Spring distribution =
anymore.

Good point - changed to IllegalArgumentException. I just didn't want to =
throw CannotGetJdbcConnectionException like before; it arguably wasn't =
appropriate. In general. the DataSource implementations shouldn't use =
DataAccessExceptions in the first place.

You broke all my existing tests :-)  The DriverManagerDataSource now =
throws a
ClassNotFoundException which is a checked exception.  It used to rethrow =
this as
an unchecked exception.  I can live with this change, but do we want to =
change
this behavior at this point?

As for the Incrementers - I'm going totest them today.
