SF seem to have sorted out (temporarily at least) disk space. There's about 6GB free on the compile farm, and about 65-85GB free on most group partitions on the project shell servers. I'm not sure who is maintaining the Spring Tag Library docs you can find at http://www.springframework.org/docs/taglib/index.html, but they are somewhat 'lacking' :-) Maybe somebody can improve this with the 1.1.4 release still in the pipeline. Erwin Vervaet |

Hello all, Is there any particular reason that the request and response objects are not exposed in the velocity & freemarker views? It makes things like request.isUserInRole() and response.setContentType() more difficult to use in the templates than they should be. Would it be possible to add a methods like setExposeRequestAs(String in) and setExposeResponseAs(String in) to AbstractTemplateView? If the above methods are not called, the request/response would not be exposed in the templates. If they were called, then the objects would be exposed in the templates using the passed in names. In this way, if someone wanted to expose the request to the templates with a non-default name (i.e. something other than request) that would be possible. It seems that you are using a fairly old version of JMX - a lot of the
class names are now different, but I don't think that is the problem.
I've put some time aside next week to really polish up JMX support and
perform a lot of testing on different platforms. I'll get you an answer
on this during the week.

I couldn't get the MetadataModelMBeanInfoAssembler to work, when I tried =
to execute a managed operation I got "no result" shown in the MX4J http =
console, although only the methods I chose to expose were displayed. If =
I remove the usage of the metadata and rely on the reflection support - =
it all works fine but I'd like to only expose some of the methods in my =
class.

Another issue was that for some reason the commons-attributes compiler =

We have little problem running Spring under WebSphere AS 5.0 (precisely, we use spring framework (with mvc) under the WS Portal). The problem relates to WS transactions implementation and JdbcTemplate (precisely, JdbcAccessor). WS starts LTC (Local Transaction Containment) for J2EE components (EJB or servlet) when we first time accessing DB without global transaction (UserTransaction). We don`t use EJBs at all, so WS creates only one LTC - for our servlet (portlet). But LTC can`t coexists with global transaction (we cant use the following sequence during request dispatching: get Conn -> access DB -> close Conn -> start UserTransaction <- BUG). In all of our DAO beans we`v used global transactions (JtaTransactionManager + AOP) with XA resources. All works just fine, but the application startup. When spring is loaded and instantiates JdbcTemplate, it calls JdbcTemplate.afterPropertiesSet(). This method initialize ExcpetionTranslator which access DB meta data. So, WS starts LTC! In following request processing we tray to start UserTransaction and faced the exception. So, it would be nice to add support for lazy ExcpetionTranslator initialization in JdbcTemplate (JdbcAccessor)... Thanks. |

Scott, I didn't test POSTs - its interesting that they don't work though. I'll putsome more effort into this. You can try to manipulate the headers yourself using the headers property to see if you can come up with the magic combination. One thing I would try is to set Content-Disposition=inline;filename=myReport.pdf. It might be that IE doesn't use the URL filename with a POST. All, I responded to a post on the users list regarding using a static field in a bean config similar to this: <bean id="MyBean" class="com.foo.bar.MyBean"> <property name="sqlType">java.sql.Types.VARCHAR</property> </bean> I built a PropertyEditor to handle int fields and I was wondering whether anyone else would find this useful. This might not be the best time for a release since SF seems to have several issues (see below) . Thomas (* 2005-01-19 13:46:41* - Project CVS Service ) On 2005-01-19 the process that synchronizes CVS repositories between the developer and anonymous CVS servers died. The process has been restarted but any changes made during that process will not get synchronized in the 5 hour window. We are running a full sync of all of the CVS data at this time, but that process can take up to 2 days to complete. If you need that data synchronized more quickly, make a change to your repository now and it will get the repository back into the 5 hour update interval, as normal. (* 2005-01-19 11:40:47* - SourceForge.net Web Site ) On 2005-01-19 at 17:00 Pacific there will be up to 3 hours of full downtime for the SourceForge.net website to permit for routine maintenance. (* 2005-01-19 06:26:53* - Download Servers ) On 2005-01-14 the upload.sf.net host ran out of disk space. As a result, we replaced the host with a new one that has 3 times the disk capacity of the old host (3 TB as opposed to 1 TB). However, there is a synchronization issue between that host and the globally distributed file download network. Dear Spring Community I'm pleased to announce the Acegi Security System for Spring release 0.7.0 is now available from http://acegisecurity.sourceforge.net. The project provides comprehensive security services for The Spring Framework. You can read about the features in detail at http://acegisecurity.sourceforge.net. There are many changes, improvements and fixes in release 0.7.0 (as listed at http://acegisecurity.sourceforge.net/changes-report.html). The major new feature areas are: * Significant improvements to ACL security services * AspectJ support (useful for instance-level security) * Refactoring of ObjectDefinitionSources (especially useful for web URI security) * Automatic propagation of security identity via RMI and HttpInvoker * Integration with Servlet Spec's getRemoteUser() * Refactoring of Contacts sample to use the new ACL security services * Additional event publishing (now includes authorisation, not just authentication) * CVS restructure to use Maven as the build system * A new project web site with FAQs, links to external articles etc The new ACL security services deserve special mention, as they make it possible to develop applications that require complex instance-based security without any custom code. The entire configuration of such applications can be declared in the IoC container using standard Acegi Security services, so this should help significantly improve architecture and development time. As per the Apache APR project versioning guidelines, this is a major release. We expect the next major release will be 1.0.0, although release 0.7.0 should be considered stable enough for most projects to use. There are detailed upgrade instructions included in the release ZIP and on the Acegi Security home page. For Maven users, Acegi Security's latest JARs are available from http://acegisecurity.sourceforge.net/maven/acegisecurity/jars. We will also be adding release 0.7.0 and above to iBiblio.
