Hello all, We have contact with the people from Aldeberan, they will supply us with meshes for the graphical model. In the simulator this model is seperate from the physical model, so changes in the looks have no effect on the performance. Peter and I have also asked them for some details for the physical model (mass distributions, sensor noise, etc.). It may be too late to push them into the simulator for this year, since they will change the performance and teams may need a lot of time to addept their behaviors to them, but it will help to make the model more realistic later on. Cheers, Sander On Thu, Mar 5, 2009 at 12:08 PM, Daniel Polani <d.p...@he...> wrote: > Hi, > > Aldebaran seemed quite concerned with the appearance of the robot, in > fact more so than on the technical specs. Hi, Aldebaran seemed quite concerned with the appearance of the robot, in fact more so than on the technical specs. Question to the MC: will a detailed modeling of the appearance affect simulation performance? A second issue is the following: we need to be careful that the requirements of the simulation league are not necessarily dictated by the exact technical specifications where this is not yet relevant. Of course, in the course of years we want to converge to model the actual Nao, but we need to be careful that our scientific goals are dictated by what we want and are able to do this year in terms of scientific challenge. - Daniel Sahar Asadi writes: > Hi, > > In Suzhou, I talked with one of the guys from Aldebaran and he gave me his > contact info. Hi, In Suzhou, I talked with one of the guys from Aldebaran and he gave me his contact info. He was positive and said they can provide us more details for improving our model. I wanted to link Feng Xue to him but meanwhile I became so busy and I forgot. I will send you the contact information. I really apologize for forgetting this issue. Hi all, I'll email my contact at Aldebaran to ask how they would like to proceed, and will report back. I'll try to set it up so that there can be direct contact between Aldebaran and the MC. Hi Oliver, Hedayat, I fixed CMakeList.txt files for OSX. Then, I can make OSX packages without autotools. Can I commit the fix. I agree it's an important issue, and if I remember correctly, Joschka tried to contact them not too long ago, but didn't get a reply (I don't know the details. I'm pretty sure it wasn't about getting an agreement, but about technical issues because Aldebaran was apparently interested in contributing to improving the model). An agreement is a separate issue, I'm not sure how formal it needs to be though. An email from Aldebaran would probably be enough for now - probably not too difficult to get, I would hope. I know Daniel was part of the discussion last year, so I've cc'ed him and Joschka too. cheers Oliver -- Oliver Obst form follows function (Louis Sullivan). Hello MC, OC, TC, executive and trustee, There is an issue that we have to resolve before the competitions in Graz: the use of the Nao model in the 3D simulation league. As you probably know, in Suzhou there was some controversy about this, since the people from Aldeberan were surprised to see the model without them being notified. In my contact with them at that time they seemed quite willing to let us use it and to supply details to possibly make the model more realistic, but I think it is still necessary to get some sort of formal agreement. We don't want to have a clash again in Graz. At which level should this be done? At least when the agreement is there, I think it's best that the MC discusses with them about the details? Regards, Sander |

In this case number of flags will be lowered, without losing the enough accuracy. Consider the agent has fallen with a restricted vision, and his head is towards the sky, or the field. No difference it makes, He can not localize, because he sees no flags at all. Cheers Mahdi |

I have read about no messages that say this jump behaviour is solved. The problem is occuring for me a lot of times, whenever the agent sends the beam command. Following the jump is the simulators skipping remaining time messages, and Agent gets illegal messages, like the one I provided before with a lot of closing brackets at the end of message with no corresponding opening brackets. > Sander thinks that it could be that the agent is beaming a little > under the floor. > > If this is the case, and since agents do not provide Z coordinate for beaming, I suggest that the server side beam command actually beams agent a little higher, like 2 or 3 centimeters above the ground. I suspect that the problem is another thing: The simulator recvs the beam command, but actual beaming occurs in the next cycle of simualator's loop, following that simulators sent messages collide between cycles, and the problems occur. I barely suspect this may be the problem, since the simulators main loop is clear. Is simulator currently multithreaded? Another thing which is still an issue, is that flags are really not enough for agent localization, when agent is looking towards any goal, any flag that he sees are in a line, which makes localization very hard and consumes a lot of process time. Since agent does not have vision of the field, more flags should be added to the field borders. The part in see messages which is responsible to inform the agent of his body parts locations, does not have a unique identifier, I had a little talk with hedayat, and we came to the suggestion to add an identifier to the message like 'bd', so that in parsing this part of message would be recognized better and safer. Consider adding more data parts to the vision message may collide with the body part vision message. Hi Hedayat, I don't oppose the cmake support. I propose that both of autotools and cmake are avilable until the cmake files are fixed to compile the simspark on OSX without problems. It seems to take a lot of time to fix the current version of cmake files for making a OSX packages. I tried to make a OSX package with cmake for almost 2 days long, but I gave up and used autotools. The reason why I would like to use autotools again is that I can not make a OSX binary package without autotools. I already made the OSX binary packages of rcssserver3d-0.6.1, simspark-0.1 and revision 51 with autotools. Regards, Takenori KUBO |

Hi Mahdi and Hedayat, I met exactly the same problem with Mahdi, that is, there are some extra brackets behind the message, but the problem doesn't occur quite offen. Hi Hedyat I tested that, redirected all the output to a file, and yet the problem still haunts... Here is the file's inside: Successfully parsed file. Finished starting players. (DataPorter::recvMessage) Connection reset by peer Goalie out. (DataPorter::recvMessage) Connection reset by peer #2 out. (DataPorter::recvMessage) Connection reset by peer #3 out. I guess, that maybe it is because There is a specific order for sending scene, init and beam commands in the first of initialization. Is there any such squence in a continuos cycle series? Let me calrify by an example: cycle #0: Agent sends scene command cycle #1: Agent sends init command cycle #2: Agent sends beam command The reason for me to guess this, is that when I randomly change the cycles of these commands, the error come in every cycle, so far my current configuration is the one that has the minimum of these errors. Hi Mahdi, I made some sample runs in my system with the new simspark (with only 1 agent), and I cannot confirm the problem. All of the messages I checked was correct. Also, the agent's vision about himself is OK. <p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-top: 0pt;">Sorry, I don't

that reason this files must be downloaded from this[1] site. I think,
we have two possibilities:<br>

Projects create executable and library files. All libraries are set to
dynamic

libraries. E.g.
Sparkagent is dependent from oxygen, salt and zeitgeist libraries. So,
this
three libraries must be set to the STATIC (.lib) library. If not,
Visual studio
write out thousands of linking error. Maybe I found a solution[3]

IMHO its not reasonable to link sparkagent with static oxygen, salt and
zeitgeist libraries. It will waste space.</p>

- user will download this files from[1] site, copy them to the e.g.
C:\library\OpenGL\GL, add path to them and compile project.
What do you think?

Hi Hedayat and all developers.
I successfully compiled Spark package in Windows Platform (Vista), but I have a couple questions about it:
1. Following projects need OpenGL extension header files[1]:
glext.h – kerosin and imageperceptor
glxext.h, wglext.h – kerosin
I think it is a good idea to add this header files into Spark in spark/windows/include/GL (e.g. because of #include <GL/wglext.h>)
2. I must add many of “include_directories()” into different projects in Spark. My question is: Variable ${Boost_INCLUDE_DIRS} is required in many cmakelists.txt but not in all. It is better to add this variable to the each project, that are need? Or add this variable in global cmakelists.txt in spark directory? Or following variable is the same as previous: add_definitions(-D_CRT_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS). Not all project need this.

At last some notes:
- In some projects I must add add_dependencies(), because I have a example, where one project compiled earlier then other at which first project need library of second project, so I have link error of missing library..
- I replaced old FindBoost.cmake with new one, because of error with finding library path (in ${Boost_LIBRARIES} variable). Ok, no problem. I will try it. But first, I must read the Wiki about CMake to know „what going on :)“.

Subject: Re: [simspark-devel] Windows build of Simspark
Hi Marian,
Thanks a lot for working on this. Yes, after migration Windows and Mac OSX support were expected to break since I don't use them :(.
But can I ask you something? A good thing about CMake is that it can generate Visual Studio project files. It would be nice if we can generate VS project files using CMake, then we won't need to maintain VS files which will break from time to time when introducing new features.
So, it would be much better if you can try to generate VS project files using cmake and fix the problems in cmake so that the generated files work without any problems. In this case, there is no need to put VS project files in SVN. Also, in this case sparkconfig.h will be generated by CMake. Would you please try it? Thanks in advance! ;)
Anyway, please fix windows\sparkconfig.h as required. I don't know why the mentioned line is absent, maybe I've used sparkconfig.h from the old simspark CVS instead of rcssserver3d CVS. :) I've just copied these windows and MacOSX related files blindly. Sorry for that :(
Good luck,
Hedayat
"Marian Buchta" <mailto:mar...@gm...> <mar...@gm...> wrote on 01/23/2009 04:29:58 AM:
Hi all.
Sorry for my long delay, but I have a lot of work. So I have not much time for Simspark.
As I have read (in rcssserver3d in simspark SVN, what's next?[1]) Windows binaries are out of date. In past, I created binary of rcssserver3D (from last source code from CVS from 29.10.08) and also created Instalation guide for build rcssserver3D for Windows[2]. Instalation guide is out of date because I cannot login to the Wiki (reason is set the permission only for Mr. Oliver Obst). So, Windows build already exists but only from source code of CVS.
Ofcourse after migration of Simspark to the SVN (btw, great work Hedayat), Visual Studio 2008 project not work. I modified this project and Simspark successfuly build and tested (simspark, agentspark (new rcssagent3d), monitorspark)[3]. The name of agentspark is old and I change this later.
In the near term I upload Visual Studio 2008 project to the SVN. Before upload I post here structure of directories of project. I think, best directory for this project is simspark\trunk\spark\windows\.
@Hedayat: If I compare file simspark\trunk\spark\windows\sparkconfig.h from CVS and from SVN, I see different. New file hasn’t this define:
#define HAVE_IL_IL_H 1
It’s necessary for Windows build.
Cheers,
Marian

Hi all Is there anyone having problem with sent messages from the simulator? In my case, they seem to be broken, and they appear nearly in every cycle. Some of them accompanied by skipping remaining time messages. I guessed that it may be caused from my graphic hardware, so I disabled internal monitor. Nothing changed. The problem seems not to have any relations with graphics. Even I double checked my connection interface for possible message chunks that are not correctly appended to each other, but that works fine. No problems on that part. take a look at one of the faulty simulator messages: (I have broke the message in lines) (time (now 3.66)) (GS (t 0.00) (pm BeforeKickOff)) (GYR (n torso) (rt 0.00 0.00 0.00)) (See (G1L (pol 2.66 -107.74 8.66)) (G2L (pol 4.00 -101.59 5.74)) (G2R (pol 11.87 -19.20 1.93)) (G1R (pol 11.48 -12.58 2.00)) (F1L (pol 1.20 135.00 -19.47)) (F2L (pol 7.26 -96.34 -3.16)) (F1R (pol 11.24 4.09 -2.04)) (F2R (pol 13.32 -32.74 -1.72)) (B (pol 6.12 -31.61 -3.36)) ( (id head) (pol 0.15 89.96 90.00)) ( (id rlowerarm) (pol 0.19 -34.99 26.17)) ( (id llowerarm) (pol 0.19 34.99 26.17)) ( (id rfoot) (pol 0.36 -69.26 -80.56)) ( (id lfoot) (pol 0.36 69.12 -80.57)) ) (HJ (n hj1) (ax 0.00)) (HJ (n hj2) (ax 0.00)) (HJ (n raj1) (ax 0.00)) (HJ (n raj2) (ax -0.00)) (HJ (n raj3) (ax -0.00)) (HJ (n raj4) (ax 0.00)) (HJ (n laj1) (ax 0.00)) (HJ (n laj2) (ax 0.00)) (HJ (n laj3) (ax -0.00)) (HJ (n laj4) (ax -0.00)) (HJ (n rlj1) (ax 0.00)) (HJ (n rlj2) (ax -0.03)) (HJ (n rlj3) (ax 18.66)) (HJ (n rlj4) (ax -43.13)) (HJ (n rlj5) (ax 23.06)) (HJ (n rlj6) (ax 0.18)) (HJ (n llj1) (ax -0.02)) (HJ (n llj2) (ax -0.01)) (HJ (n llj3) (ax 18.67)) (HJ (n llj4) (ax -43.13)) (HJ (n llj5) (ax 23.06)) (HJ (n llj6) (ax -0.17)) *(n llj6) (ax -0.17)) 6)) (FRP (n lf) (c -0.01 -0.03 -0.01) (f 0.11 0.06 23.02)) (HJ (n llj6) (ax -0.17))))))))* As it seems, the problem is that the perceptors are jamming with each other. and in the middle of the see perception goes agent vision of himself (I guess), which does not have any tokens to show if they are for the agent himself or not. If they could have an indicator, that would be much better Cheers Mahdi |
