As we agreed last week, you will begin receiving our FREE weekly
financial intelligence reports. We hope you enjoy the unique and
insightful commentary and encourage you to review the in-depth financial
analysis you can use to build and protect your wealth.
If you are like most investors, you're feeling a bit uncertain
about where the markets and the economy are headed. What impacts will
the 'geo-political' situation have on the value of your portfolio? Can
oil possibly top $50 per barrel? Have we found a market bottom yet?
Yes, it's been a rough ride for many investors the last few years,
but not for our readers. Our chief analyst called the bear market and
NASDAQ crash in January 2000. He moved his followers into value stocks
in March before the bottom fell out. He accurately predicted the 2001
third quarter recession in August of 2000. His 2001 annual forecast was
amazingly on target. He positioned his readers out of stocks and into
bonds and nailed the currency and oil markets on the head. What's more,
his 2002 forecast was right on ... it's been a 'Muddle Through Economy.'
Now, he details what's ahead for this year. CLICK HERE
<http://www.financialweb.org/Register.asp?SubmissionType=Pub5> to
review his 2003 Investment Forecast.
It's no wonder that our weekly letters have grown from only a
handful of dedicated readers to over a million. I could go on and on,
but our readers are our biggest fans. Here's what just a few of the
hundreds of weekly e-mails we receive say:
' ... your letters are the best information I've been able to find.
Though your economic positions usually disagree with most other sources,
I find them quite on target....'E.J.
'Highest accolades to you for writing such a superb weekly letter.
I eagerly look forward to reading it every weekend. Your economic
analysis is comprehensive and brilliantly insightful. Please keep up the
great work. Many thanks!!' P.L., Ph.D.
'It's the first thing I look for when I click open my e-mail.' C.E.
Now, here's the kind of questions that will be answered from
week-to-week:
'What type of returns should I expect from the stock market for the
next 5, 10 or 20 years?'
'There are clearly times to be in the market and times when it's
safer to be on the sidelines. How can I tell the difference?'
'I need an 8% return on my portfolio to retire in the next 10
years. Is that a safe assumption?'
Here's what one of our analysts said in an earlier issue in
response to the last question.
'If you expect to retire in 10 years, it is very unsafe to assume a
5-6% return on stocks from where we are today.... it might be unsafe to
assume 2%! Why, because there has never been a time when investors have
made a 2% return over 10 years when P/E ratios are over 21, which is
easily where they are today. I would not want to bet my retirement plans
on something that has never happened in history.
'Now, don't jump off that ledge yet. This doesn't mean you can't
make 8% on your portfolio. It just means you have to look at
alternatives to traditional buy and hold mutual funds. Value will rule.
Think dividends. Absolute returns from bonds and specialized funds will
be critical to your portfolio.
'If you are an accredited investor, you can also subscribe to my
free e-letter on hedge funds, private offerings and recommended
investment managers. Plus, we are working hard to add new information
each week (to our Web site) to help you in your efforts to maximize the
returns from your investment portfolio. Let us know what you think of
the Web site, and what you would like to see us add which can help make
you a better investor.'
That's just a taste of what you can expect every week from our
analysts, advisors and investment professionals. Again, thank you for
your interest in becoming a more informed investor.
Yours for Intelligent Investing,
The Editors

Mike, One of the things I am thinking is I would like to be able to port over to Linux and wanted to be able to keep the same code base then have the difference be different build trees or something. Your suggestions should get me started. I got a recommendation from someone to check out Qt. It looks pretty cool but a single user licence is over 1.5k. Little out of my budget. This simple thing I wanted to do is now becoming bigger and bigger. :) -chrisl On Wed, 29 Jan 2003, Lumpy wrote: > Date: Wed, 29 Jan 2003 17:20:29 -0800 > From: Lumpy <mi...@ma...> > To: ch...@sp..., scr...@li... > Subject: Re: [Scribia-dev] scribia development > > Hi Chris, > > I believe that Scribia is a CodeWarrior project, and CodeWarrior does > support building projects to run on OSX, although Scribia built with > CW will probably only run under the Carbon environment. Hi Chris, I believe that Scribia is a CodeWarrior project, and CodeWarrior does support building projects to run on OSX, although Scribia built with CW will probably only run under the Carbon environment. I haven't tried building a OSX native Scribia yet... However, if you are starting a new project, I would suggest that you try using the (free) Apple development environment, Project Builder. I believe that you can download it from developer.apple.com, or it's included on the Developer Tools CD/DVD series. You might also want to take a look at Interface Builder, which is another free development tool from Apple. I find IB makes it _really_ easy to build GUI apps, letting me concentrate more on the code, instead of the constant UI tweaking I used to do. --Mike PS: (disclaimer, etc.) I do work for Apple, so my opinion might be a bit biased... Hello, I had a quick question for this group. I am looking at developing a small utility for CL. I have done developement on Linux/Unix but I was wondering what tool most of you use for development on OSX? Do you use CodeWarrior? Do you recommend something else? -chrisl (Sielk) |

Yes.. check out the feature request tracker and the bug report tracker. :) Also keeping Scribia.l up to date with the latest trainers. I know we are missing some ethereal trainers and possibly potions. Do you have codewarrior 7? -Ben On Thursday, June 20, 2002, at 03:37 PM, CJ Holmes wrote: > I may be willing to help with the Scribia project. I'd appreciate it if someone could try out the prerelease of scribia.. the main thing I am worried about is ignoring stuff that happens in movie files. Some stuff might be getting picked up. In particular, share times might be getting messed up, i'm not sure yet. Haven't tested it much yet, thats what i want you guys for. You can build it from CVS (hopefully) or get it at http://homepage.mac.com/bhines/files/Scribiab7.hqx Note that the movie feature will only work on logs that contain the new movie messages. Please test: 1. Disconnect. Watch movie. Reconnect so you get a "short disc" ("welcome back"!) - make sure share times are correct. Make sure nothing in the movie got added to your character. (ranks,etc) 2. Disconnect. Watch movie. Don't quit Cl. Wait at least 7 minutes. Reconnect with a long disc. ("Welcome to Clan Lord!") Make sure share times are correct. Make sure nothing in the movie got added to your character. (ranks,etc) Changed since last release: - Do not parse while movies are playing. - Track "dispatch" and "help dispatch" beast kills. - Track both "clanmate" and "clanmates" for clan exp. - Track "Adventure" (exploration) experience. - Track luminescent salves, cultures, and catsbane necklace training. (check messages) - Fixed Leladar message. - Add Leradla and Lalerad trainers. (NEED MESSAGES, will track "evaluations" only) I haven't added the language trainer evaluation stuff yet. thanks, -Ben -- http://homepage.mac.com/bhines/ |

Was trying to use ifOurChar_BEGIN to add support for:
Par Troon says in Thoom, "Bones, you already know the language I teach."
.. and is it just me, or is the ifOurChar_BEGIN function totally
bogus. It actually doesn't check if yytext BEGINs with the
charactername, it checks if yytext *IS* the charactername.
(strncasecmp == 0 if they are equal, not prefixed). And if it's not
prefixed, it adds the entire yytext to the exile hash which is bad if
you try to use this as a yytext "prefix" function.
Either I am missing something, or Lark was when writing this function. :)
// Test if yytext begins with our character name, if so, put scanner
in state inState.
void CScribiaDoc::ifOurChar_BEGIN(const int inState) {
if((strncasecmp(mCharacterName.c_str(), yytext, yyleng) == 0) &&
// make sure name isn't simply a prefix of yytext!
((mCharacterName.length() < yyleng &&
// XXX use class ci_string instead of strchr
strchr(" \t\r\n",
yytext[mCharacterName.length()]) != 0) ||
mCharacterName.length() >= yyleng)) {
sHaveSeenMyName = true;
BEGIN(inState);
} else
// it's not us; add this name to the exile hash to improve
the karma heuristic
mExile[yytext];
}
Anyway, a new release will be soon, for those just tuning in.
-Ben
