Where possible, private power uses have been integration into the normal flow. This e.g. applies to special tile and token laying (extra Help info is displayed to notify players), and train buying (18AL NDY: an extra entry in the train list for the train at half price). Occasionally, an extra button is shown (1830 M&H/NYC swap). In the remaining cases, powers are exercised via the Special menu, which highlights if any such action is available. So in most cases players get a visual cue of some sort. Extra info could in theory be added, although I'm not sure if such usage info would mix well with the current use of the Info menu: only for static properties of game entities. But if we would add such info, we should settle on as few boilerplate texts as possible, because each message requires an entry in the resource bundle. Rails is designed to be multilingual (although so far everybody seems to be satisfied with English - at least, with what a few non-native English speaking developers think British English looks like). Hello rails-users In the 18Al game, you are only allowed to buy one train a turn form the bank. This has been implemented ok. But if you buy a train from the bank and then undo that! Than it is not possible any more to buy a train from the bank. sincerely, Hildebrand Tigelaar |

Unfortunately I have deleted a required lib from the release to reduce the total file size to cut down the upload time. The old files have been withdrawn, new files will be available only tomorrow, as I am currently away from home. Sorry for another delay... Stefan |

To all Rails users: as the automated game testing works (again), I ask all users of Rails to please supply save files of finished or nearly-finished games. I also ask the developers for test cases or files of fixed bugs. Game files for all versions 1.3+ are possible. For reference I will add the list of games to the wiki page which will describe how the automated game testing works. Please indicate if you are interested if your real name and/or the save file itself can be added to that list of the games. If not only the game name and version will be listed and the save file will only be part of the git repository. Please send save files directly to my e-mail address and not to the list. Thanks for your help, Stefan Frey |

Chris: even if I cannot open the save file correctly, it was easy to identify the reason for this issue: The Goderich tile (-939) is not the correct one in 1830 Tiles.xml: The station definition is omitted. The one in 1856 Tiles.xml is correct. However this is up to Erik to investigate, as Tiles.xml should be created automatically with the correct entries. Stefan PS: However there is another issue: I cannot open the save file due to an error occuring, as the N&W lays a base token on L16 in OR 5.1 On Wednesday, June 15, 2011 10:40:24 am Chris Pond wrote: > Morning all! > > It looks like Rails is not counting Chicago if it is run through. I just fixed this. The home bases of some of the new variant companies (N&W, RDG, MILW) had been set up incorrectly in the XML. The 'city="0"' and 'allCitiesBlocked="yes"' attributes should only be used with multiple-station tiles, like the Erie OO home hex. Just tried loading this one up. For some reason this works in the dev code but fails in 1.4.2 NW doesn't not have a lay or no tile option available in 1.4.2. Erik/Stefan: is this a result of the tilelay changes recently added to fix that D private issue in 1889? Salutations ! Am in endgame of an 1830 game played over the 'net, using Rails and Dropbox. Would like to use screenshots of Rails to illustrate a 'play-by-play' or 'session report' of the game on BoardGameGeek. Hope this will not cause any problems with copyrights, etc, etc. Yours, John Desmond PS, Holding off on 1.4.2 upgrade, want to finish current game, after Memorial Day weekend, maybe... |

John, If you want to keep all your user settigs then, yes, just copy rails 1.4.2 over the top of any existing install and you should be fine. Personally I like to keep seperate versions in different directories as if there are issues with a game after the upgrade then you can always finish that game with the earlier version. The initial release of 1.4.2 had a bug, redownload it again and that will fix your map issue. Have you tried loading this game with the problem in 1.4.2? Does this issue still occur? If it does then please send your save files and we can have a look at the problem. Salutations, gentlefolk ! First, a request for some hints on upgrading Rails - just copy new files to old directory, or ? Second, tried to open ongoing game with 1.4.2 - seemed to 'hang up' whil rendering the map ? Perhaps keep 1.4.1 in service till current game finished ? Third, seems to be bug in 1.4.1, bank not getting as much cash added, from stock purchases, as it should. Have game files from before and after stock round, if bug wasn't fixed in 4.2, and anyone wants to take a look. Thanks, very much, John Desmond |
