Hi, I just started using Pilot-DB. Coming from a ThinkDb background. I am looking in the documentation for the scripting that can be used = with 'calculated' types but cannot find it. Please provide pointers to = existing descriptions of how this works. Specifically I want to get the difference between 2 DATE fields in a = record as a DATE result. Also, is there any notion of getting the date of TODAY or of the = entry/last-modification of a given record, the time of NOW, the index of = the current record in the DB? thank you kindly for your attention Elias Biris, Member of Technical Staff Cadence Design Systems Ltd, SOC Design Centre 1 The Alba Campus |TEL: +44 (0)1506595036 Livingston, EH54 7HH |FAX: +44 (0)1506595959 |

Okay - I just mean that, if at any time there is a plugin that, say, requires a Color Palm, or a Clie, or version 4.1 of the OS, I hope that this will be documented so that users don't install a plugin that causes a problem because they didn't know that it would. > > 3. Hello all. Didn't get a lot of time to test beta 9 until tonight. Sorry, I have bought a new machine (old for all, new for me :-) and had a hard time to get all I she to do for me with linux. o I can't no more modifiy a list : when I add or remove entry, the prog tells me it must rebuild, ok, then displays a message stating that an error occured, no modififications made (exact message : "An error was encountered during rebuild. No changes have been made"). I'm pretty sure I saw that in beta8 but only when removing entries. o Strange : the same happen when I try to add a field in an existing database. I just installed beta9 over the beta8 I did install over the beta6 (I think) without first removing (I use filez for removing just one file) the existing version. I can do more tests if you need. I had another look at the previous mails and found out that it might be a problem with the mac-desktop (see Michael C. Miller 02/22/2002=A005:29:49). I still use Mac OS 8.6. DB just fits my needs, so I hope the problem can be fixed... Jan Ruitman |

I=B4m using DB (0.3.4beta5as) on a visor neo and have difficulties when I try installing a new database or even a backup of my own files. It is not possible to open the databases on the handheld also they appear in the list view. Are there any solutions for this problem? with best regards Jan Ruitman |

My point is other base formats plugins should only support what is necessary to convert bases to DB3 format. It's too much work to maintain all those formats. If someone want to maintain them, he will probably be welcomed in the dev team, won't he ? :-) Fab. |

Yes, I use db-en-light.prc, as I have a Palm III & prefer the b/w display. I did get an error when I installed the db-en after the hot- sync. I should also mention that I am running Mandrake/JPilot on my desktop (JPilot uses pilot-xfer, correct?). & I did try deleting all things pertaining to pilot-db & then reinstalling beta 8, but the problem persisted. The db-en-light version also had some other interesting effects: 1) All the categories of preexisting db tables were changed to "unfiled". 2) The 3rd-party tables you offer for download also cannot be read by the new version. 3) The http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pilot-db/db-MobileDB.prc plugin doesn't work. I assumed that the plugins under 1.0.0 were for the beta 8, as opposed to the 0.3.2beta2 plugins. I attempted rescanning for databases, but my mobiledb files didn't appear. 4) I tried the 0.3.2 db-tools to export one of my existing tables to csv & back to pdb, hoping that would make it readable by beta 8 without the crashing error, but to no avail. But . . . I could reinstall beta 1 over beta 8 & resume work on my existing files. But I really want to make use of the new field types, as they are quite exciting. Thank you for all your work on this wonderful program. ----- Original Message ----- From: marc-chalain <mar...@wa...> Date: Wednesday, February 27, 2002 9:20 am Subject: Re: [pilot-db-list] form.c, line:1728, object not in form > Wayne Dean wrote: > > > > I upgraded from beta 1 to beta 8 & tried opening > > an older db file, & got that fatal alert. > > Do you use db-en-light.prc? because there is this bug in the beta8 > If you use db-en.prc then there was a trouble during the hotsync (not > come from us but to have short link, Palm doesn't update > everything) you > must delete db on your device (backup your databases before, or > use a > tool like filez). I notice that in the pilot-db beta 8 release (and it is probably true for older ones) that the readme refers people to http://palm-db-tools.sourceforge.net/ but that is just a redirect back to http://pilot-db.sourceforge.net/ . Seems like if we are going to merge the two projects we should just refer to the latter. -- Never apply a Star Trek solution to a Babylon 5 problem. Larry W. Hello, I'm using palm db 0.3.4beta8cas on a palm 3xe. When I start a db, I must push the contrast to the limit. At first I think it was a problem of the palm, but by other programms the contrast is ok. I had installed the plugin for the colours, and I switch all colours to black or white, but it doesn't bring any help. Is it possible, to release a black and white version, like the old 0.3.x releases? With best regards Malte Kaldewey |
