First thank you for your README file, it's good for me.
Second the about popup only if you have the db-example.prc (old name was
db-plugin.prc) plugin.
Go on the plugin about box (in the Databases Chooser menu:
"help/...plugins"), select the database and tape on the "delete" button.

I have a wish for DB before it goes to 1.0.0 myself.

I would prefer that the About popup not come up every time I select
a DB database.  Other Palm applications display this information when
a particular memu item is selected.  DB is showing it every time I open
a database.

[pilot-db-list] Float data type info

Does anyone know specifically how DB stores the data for a float type
field? When I read it, and convert it using IEEE standard double
precision floating point bit coding, I get strange values. Perhaps
there is an alternate coding format for Palm or DB or maybe I am
missing soemthing.

You are right that DB Tools does not support all of the new fields.
There is a conduit out there but it likewise does not support all new
field types yet.

If you are using MS windows and MS access 97 or 2k, then the solution
that I am developing may be of use to you. It is in early develpment,
but at the current state, it reads DB files in to Access tables. I am
still having some problem with calculated, link and Float data types,
but others work well. NOTE: for link and calc you do get the display
value but not the link info. For floats, you get scrambled data.

I have not developed code to go the other direction. If you are
interested, and are familiar with coding in MS Access, let me know.

[pilot-db-list] db tools & new fields

It appears that the new fields aren't supported (e.g. List). Changing =
field type to string results in lost data. Any suggestions, besides not =
using new fields or not using db tools?

Not that I know of. The C++ source code is available so it should be 
straightforward for someone to write a Pyrite plugin (http://www.pyrite.org/) 
or what not

Yep, that's the typical Event handling for a Handera-ized app.
I'd add to this, that it would be nice to have the same record selection
with the jog dial in the database list mode, to actually select which
database to open.

Sounds like you didn't install the HandEra overlay.

Besides, this version works fine on Handera.  It's
definitly the most important application in my
Handera.  (It replaces my address book.)  Thanks

At the page mentioned here, I see a db-DB2.prc but not a db-DBold.prc - are
these the same thing?  Also, I don't see a db-memoexport, but I see a
db-informations.prc - is this the same thing?

to have DB in a particular language the user must load db.prc and the
overlay corresponding to the desired language.

The handera.prc contains only bigs icons for Handera devices. These file
is usefull on Handera device, on other device there isn't trouble.
an Handera user should load db.prc and handera.prc. (DB runs fine
without handera.prc on an Handera device but it don't look pretty).

Palm-db-tools 0.3.2 supports:
the field types: string, integer, boolean, time, date.
 the list views.
 the extended CSV file.

I work on Palm-db-tools 1.0.0 which will support:
the field types: string, integer, boolean, time, date, float, note,
link, linked, list, script.
 the list views.
 the extended CSV file.
 the proprieties for the field types: string, integer, float link,
linked, list, calculated.
 the date and time format.
 a graphic tool to import and export pdb file.

Now i must complete:
 calculated field type support.
 the gui doesn't support list views.

[pilot-db-list] DB 1.0.0 on Palm Pilot Professional

I attempted to load
DB 1.0.0 on my palm pilot professional (update 2.0.4) and it crashed with a
blinking "Palm" reset screen.  Had to hard reset.  Reinstalled DB 0.3.3c.

[pilot-db-list] beta 9 and colorselect plugin

The color select plugin does not work for me.  In the list view when I 
select the plugin, I get a debug dialog with this message:

resc -1


I have already tried re-downloaded the plugin from sourceforge, but I still 
get this error.  The other two plugins I have installed seem to be working 
ok (reports and information)

	I tried a lot of updates (with or without first erasing
the db prog) from beta to beta and never saw that. I use a palm
VX with OS 3.5. And you ?

[pilot-db-list] VFS

With the last 2 beta's or so, the VFS plug-in still does not seem to
function, allowing databases in /palm/launcher to be visible in the
database list view.  HandEra 330, OS 3.5.3A29 (and other VFS enabled
HandEra OS versions).

Assuming you generate a List field and populate entries in the database
design, if you later decide you need to add an item or two to the list,
the list becomes empty and you have to remember all the data types that
you had in there to begin with, and further, you can end up
affecting/replacing already entered data in the database.

[pilot-db-list] Loading PDB from desktop

I have backup a database and want to load it onto a second palm pilot.  I
used the instapp program and the database shows up on the file list, but
when trying to open the database I get a.n "Unable to open database"
message.

What am I doing wrong.

the databases are displayed correctly i.e.

This happens only after installing. If the display settings have
been changed (it does not matter to what) then this does bug
is not reproduced again.

This is not a new bug.

I think you'll have to install the plugin for the old db format, it's at the bottom of the download page for db.

I have made some database's with db 0.2.0.Now I have updated to 
db 0.3.3 and can't see my old Database's. I tried the German and 
the english version of db 0.3.3.

I saw that the documentation pointer was sent out already.  Here are
some specifics:

say field 0 and field 1 are dates.  this script should do what you want
	(dur (- (int %0 ) (int %1)))

	This can be done with dates/times in the current working version.  
It is not released yet.

I'm not sure what you mean by the 'index of the current record' this of 
course changes depending on the current sort order.  There is now function 
to calculate this for a 'calculated script' although I don't see a reason 
why there such a function couldn't be added.  However, you can set up an 
integer field to 'auto increment' such that a unique id is given to each 
record for that field.
