Michael Oertel wrote: > hope you enjoy it. > > cheers > -michael Hi Michael, thanks for the release. One question - I couldn't find any information on manually upgrading the existing system. There's a file called *CHANGELOG.html in the package, but it's empty unfortunately. Basically, our POC installation has been customized to run on Oracle - instead of MySQL. Therefore, we need to upgrade manually, to avoid erasing our customizations. Also manual upgrade will enable us to prioritize security update over feature additions. Something like this would be really nice: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=180610 But I understand that would be very time consuming, so an automatically-generated CHANGELOG would be enough for me; along with notes informing which ones are security updates, and which ones are new features. Hope you can help me with this, or feel free if you have suggestions regarding this matter. Thanks, Harry |

hi folks, yes, I know, it's my first posting as the maintainer of the PHPOpenChat-Project, but please keep in mind: * I have to do my 10h-a-day-job to be able to feed my two kids * I can't sit longer than 2-3 hours on my computer at weekend. All merried members know what I mean ;-) Okay, what's up with the POC? Currently we do a really big merge between two cvs branches for release 3.0.x and 3.1.x. That's a bit difficult, 'cause over the years there are big diff's between the two branches and so it takes alot of our time to fix the cvs-conflicts and to get the result running. If this job is finished, we going to release a first beta of 3.1.x. For updates from 3.0.x to 3.1.x, there will be a DDL/DML-script for a continuing use of existent databases. 3.1.x-Features: * Traffic statistics within the administration interface * customizable lines of other dialog partners. A chatter can overwrite the line styles, like the font-family, -size, -color, and the -decoration of other chatters lines. * new chat logging features * new IRC-commands like /ban /unban /away * Dice game * and alot of minor things In this week, we release 3.0.1 with some minor new features and bugfixes * xhtml error in registration confirmation (only if content is delivered as application/xhtml+xml) * added check for value of session.use_trans_sid. The delivery of content as application/xhtml+xml depends on (session.use_trans_sid==0) now. php adds invalid xhtml-code if session.use_trans_sid==1 for example, php appends to a link: &PHPSESSID=0815 instead of &PHPSESSID=0815 * new config-property MAX_EMAIL_REGISTER_COUNT. For one e-mail address, users can register MAX_EMAIL_REGISTER_COUNT times only now. * if POCs browser window is in the background there is a new task bar flashing when someone posts new text in the chat window. Okay. That's it for now. Have fun using POC! regards, -michael -- Michael Oertel ICQ: 8057112 Maintainer of the PHPOpenChat-Project http://phpopenchat.org/ Co-Founder of SchulWeb http://www.schulweb.de/ |

Hello! I really enjoyed your PHPOpenChat. I'm going to integrate it (3.0) into our website. As far as I can see, there's no Russian translation at the moment. If there's nobody working at this translation, I'd like to do it and send you back, so it could be incorporated into future releases. (I'm native Russian language speaker, so it should be ok ;-) Thanks, Andrey. |

The English part is not a problem - POC runs straight away. But you're using SQL Server - you may find that you may need to adapt the= code so it'll run with it. Hi, I am considering using POC for a site I'm working on, and have some questions about it. - How hard is it on server resources? Is there any data on how much memory it requires per user, and how responsive it is when many users are logged in at once? - Where to do I start looking to hack the login process? The site has an existing authentication scheme that I need to hook into (no LDAP server). - Is documentation in English coming anytime soon? thanks, -josh |

I'm creating new PHPOpenChat users through a separate form on my site, using the same MySQL statements as are in the class.Chatter.inc "register" function. Seems pretty straightforward -- add a username, password, and confirm code to "poc_user_account" and add a nick, user, name, email, picture, and regtime to "poc_user_data". I'm able to create the records of course, but the accounts cannot login to the chat system. It kicks back to the login page with no error message (why are there no error messages?). Is there something I'm missing that PHPOpenChat needs to authenticate a user? Thanks, -- Matt Grimm Web Developer The Health TV Channel, Inc. Hello, I was curious to know the ETA of version 3. We definitely want to upgrade from version 2. Is 3.0.b6 stable enough to run until the full version comes out? Is anybody running b6 on their site right now? Thanks. Brendan |

(getting POC to work with Oracle) We've converted db.schema to be compatible with Oracle. Some changes are non-issue I think, such as datatype changes: text become= varchar(4000), int become number(10), double become number(38) Comments changed to C-style (/* ... */) "IF EXISTS" has been dropped (not supported by Oracle) But we had to change some field names -- that means we'll have to adapt the= code for this. For example, "user" is a reserved word in Oracle, as well as "online" and= "start". I'll start working on the code adaptation, I'll keep you posted on our= progress.
