Hi, we're planning to use phpOpenChat in our website (a UK local gov= website). But we're encountering some problems. We have standardized on Oracle as the database, so we're very happy that= phpOpenChat uses ADODB. That doesn't mean it'll work straight away though.= At the moment our Oracle DBA is busy converting db.schema to make it= compatible with Oracle, and he already had to change the "user" column= because "user" is a reserved keyword in Oracle (which means I'll have to= change the relevant codes to reflect this change) While we're working trying to get it to work with Oracle, I wonder if= anyone has tried this as well ? (getting POC to work with Oracle) If someone has done this, do please get in touch. We'll be very interested= to hear your experiences in getting it up and running. Hello, I'm using PHP OpenChat 2.3.1 for a web site that will feature nightly chats. The other day we ran a test chat. When $ROW_BUFFER_SIZE = 0, 1 or 2 Users couldn't see eachother's posts. When $ROW_BUFFER_SIZE = 3 The chat worked with 2 people, but additional concurrent users couldn't see eachother's posts. When $ROW_BUFFER_SIZE = 5 The chat worked with at least 5 people (We only had 5 people to test with) My question is, why is it necessary to have the Row Buffer set in order for the chat to work? We are running a chat system where ideally a user would enter the chat system and see none of the previous lines... especially if they were from the previous night's chat. Is there a way to get around this? Thanks. Brendan |

How do you get it to forget your login settings? I registered a = different account that I want to use to Chat with, but every time I open = up the chat link it has "operator" as the account to be signed in all = grayed out and it won't let me change it. Thanks again! |

Can anyone explain how to customize PHPopenchat? I'm not familiar with PHP and the software was installed via Power Tools = supplied by my web host. I've seen that the manual is in German and I don't know German. I've customized template files before ... could someone tell me what = template files need to be customized and what fields need to remain so = that I can do my own customization? Thank you! Hi i keep on getting this error message about the tmp directory. Sorry, an error occurred. at /home/bt25/public_html/gz/phpopenchat-3.0.0b5/index.php:60 [2] session_start(): = open(/home/bt25:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp/sess_bba2ff32d767a0c= 7d140c58121285349, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) Your webserver has no write permissions in = "/home/bt25:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp"! In your favorite shell, do the following: chmod 777 /home/bt25:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp and press ENTER. I have run a cron=20 chmod: getting attributes of = `/home/bt25:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp': No such file or = directory but from what you can see there is no directory. Hello, I downloaded PHPOpenChat-2.3.4.zip and uploaded the chat folder to my webserver. Then I read in the /chat/INSTALL page that I should give Writer permissions to: <!--StartFragment-->* /your/path/to/<phpopenchat-2.x.x>/includes/defaults_inc.php and to * /your/path/to/<phpopenchat-2.x.x>/html/.htaccess I found defaults_inc.php and gave write permissions, but I did not find .htaccess. What shall I do? Shall I create a .htaccess file and should be in it? Then, I went to the installation page /chat/html/admin/install.php and filled out the form: In front of Username, password, databasehost I wrote the data given to me by the webhost, but when I clicked on enter I had this message: "error connecting to the database" and I could not go anyfurther. I don't know if this is linked to the fact that I don't have an .htaccess file or to another problem... Could you help me? (I tried looking at the archives, but I could not open their page). Group: I am installing 3.0.b3 on a Windows 2003 Server using iis6. I have been getting the following errors where only part of my screen appears. It seems as though the template class does not load. I have read some of the posts and it seems like others are having problems with 3.0.b3 but not with 3.0.b2. Do any of you know where I can get access to 3.0.b2? I have set everything up correctly and I keep getting red on the webserver write access, I have created a tmp dir in /home/midkiffd and have chmod the tmp dir to 777 and still get this error. Here is the code I have defining tmpdir:

Hi to all, afer installation (made twice), if i go on the index.php page i get the login page but after i try to login i get every time this error: Fatal error: The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition chat of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded _before_ the session was started in /home/httpd/server/docs/chat/index.php on line 181 I think it is a session problem becouse if the session file is not yet created i see the page and after no more, if i delete the session files i get the same behaviour. I have: apache 1.3.27 PHP 4.2.3 register_globals_off the /tmp dir is writable by the apache user and i find the session files inside. Any ideas?? Thanks, bye, MArcello |

Hi, I'm running PhpOpenChat v3b on a FreeBSD server and have a question about the forgotten password utility. All the mail that arrives when someone uses this tool comes from "Cha...@my..."... where can I can change this so it appears to come from "cha...@my..."? I might have missed a set up option for this, but if so, I'm not sure where it's found. Can someone point me to it? Thank you, Daniel Stegall |

New install on Win 2K with MySQL latest..
