Greetings, Please help me for Phpmylibrary installation. I have two questions... Is phpmylibrary can work on xammp? If it doesn't, i installed all the reqiured pachakes Php, mysql and apache and the preintallation check has come, then after the first phase i can't continue. it shows me the username and the password provided are incorrect. please help, I have stucked with this issue. --------------------------------- Talk is cheap. Hi all, I'm a new comer please help me.
I have xammp installed on my windowsXP machine. I have phpmylibrary database, on this i have created a user called root with password root.
while i'm trying to install phpmylibrary, the preintallation check has come and i have passed the first step.but when i'm trying to enter the reqiured data on the second step
host name : localhost
MYSQL user name : root
MYSQL Password : root
MYSQL Database Name phpmylibrary
it responds like
The password and Username provided are incorrect.
please help me.

Hi All - Great new installer, I tested phpmylibrary out a year or so ago, the mambo or joomla installer is very nice! The Koha folks have a nice feature that allows them to pull from amazon.com along with the MARC record. This is a way for libraries to make $'s (every item you sell on amazon through referrals you get 20% of the sale on). I'm working on it slowly and would appreciate any ideas as to where in the php to begin looking to integrate the ISBN look-up Great work, and thank you for such an easy to install software! But now I am not to proceed further. Greetings, PhpMyLibrary is now in active development again. New version will include revised catalog encoding process. It also include abstract search or fulltext searching. Usable for serial colletion like journals, etc. It can also be used as repository of thesis/dissertation database because of its fulltext/abstract searching capability. This will be released as version 2.1.1, addons, bugs or patches on this version will be named 2.1.1-1, 2.1.1-2, 2.1.1-x and so on. New minor feature addition will be named 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.x, and so on. Major feature enhancement will be named 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.x.1, and so on. The 2.1.x version covers major enhancement in cataloging module. Which is heavily modified because of the inclusion of the abstract/fulltext field. The 2.2.x version will cover major enhancement in cataloging again. which i plan to release soon. I just want to release the 2.1 version because it has been done already. but i found a new easier cataloging approach which will be included in 2.2.x I will make it clear into my mind that the 2.0.x versions are just my initial approach on software development. The 2.1.x version onwards as I plan, should be more formal and active, and i hope i can get in touch to other developers interested in this project so that this will become more popular, more useful, stable and secure for the benefit of the community in the spirit of opensource development. I just made this announcement as a note for myself and to be my roadmap. I also made this comment so everyone is aware about the plans of phpmylibrary. Im also hopeful to get some active developers, testers, writers to join me in this effort to stabilize and make the software usable to the community. As i've know our list have 54 subscribed users so this letter can reach them all. Also i've known that the PhpMyLibrary users are being used by almost 17% of US users as shown here http://www.phpmylibrary.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=56 I hope other countries can get this software also, aside from the US who is now the frequent user of this software. I accept to myself that this software is popular to US and not on my homeland, Philippines. It's because the people in Philippines has a very high standard. It should pass first from the standard of US people before being used finally in their libraries. No problem with that, thats the case in my homeland. This seems long. With some php background it wasn't quite difficult for me to translate the software into german language. Two problems occuree during that process. 1.) Cataloging: If I click on button "Help", I won't find neither the description nor the delimiters of the selected TAG. I've already modified marcdefs.php file...so where is the problem? 2.) Picture Upload: If I upload a users' picture file, it will not be displayed. The ordinary message "No Picture available" is shown. In conf.php I've also modified the "$picture_dir" variable. Hello, I have recently downloaded the program and have been reviewing it for implementation in an academic department library and am very impressed with the features and functionality. There is, however, one feature that I wish could be modified to be more user friendly. The cataloging feature requires both knowledge of MARC tags and the inclusion of additional characters to function properly. Is there a way the program can be easily modified to display the Tag descriptions on the Cataloging screen in place of or in addition to the Tag number? I realize the help button exists to offer descriptions, but that does not seem to provide any information when entering a new record - it is there when editing existing records, but still requires additional work. Is it also possible to modify the program to add the additional tags without input by the user? For example - instead of entering "1 $aParker, Emma." a user would simply enter "Parker, Emma." in Tag 100. I think these two modifications to the cataloging feature would be an excellent addition to the software and allow easier usage for those who are more computer illiterate. Dear friends,
I have install phpmylibrary.... but unfortunately i've got many notice that
something wrong had happened.

Greetings, This is not yet available as you are the first one to request it, if majority requires it the LDAP authentication will be perhaps be made in future releases. PhpMyLibrary is currently establishing all its basic feature, after that it will go through enhancement stage. As of now basic feature that are needed as of this time march 30, 2005 ar= e the following: 1) Online editing/updating of library configuration found at conf.php fil= es. This feature allows the user to edit their configs online without requiri= ng them to ftp'ing through their ftp host to modify the configs. 2) The z3950 feature that I always want to exist in PhpMyLibrary. This feature will allow the library cataloger to just copy or import marc from= the library of congress z3950 server by just filling in some keywords, an= d the result will show up, thereby allowing them to just select and import = it. 3) Make PhpMyLibrary as PhpNuke/PostNuke module and Mambo component. This= will allow cms users to just download and install PhpMyLibrary as a modul= e or component. 4) Make the PhpMyLibrary scalable in which it will be usable not only to library catalogs but also as a general data retrieval system of any natur= e whether it be library bibliographic info search engine, personal director= y search engine, telephone directory, archive search engine, etc. This idea= is backed by the CDS/ISIS feature/functionality in which during our time, we= can use it as a thesis database, book database, student directory, etc. CDS/ISIS users understands what I am talking here probably. 5) Enhance the generation of reports in pdf format. Enhancement Stage: 1) LDAP authentication 2) Barcode Integration using either wxpython or qt/c++ 3) Enhance the database queries to make it handle million of records. If interested anyone can participate in developing basic and enhanced feature. Hello all,
I only discovered PhpMyLibrary this morning and thought I'd give it
a try. I've setup a test server Running Fedora Core 3 with Apache, PHP,
and MySQL. I ran the install script without adding the sample data (I
couldn't get it to work with that option selected at all). Now I'm able
to load up the main page, but I can't log in. No mater what I click,
I'm brought back to the same page. I read in the archives that setting
"register_globals" to "on" might fix this. I tried that, but nothing
changed. Are there any other thoughts as to what I'm might be doing wrong?
