Hello all,new member here. I've just installed phpmylibrary-2.0.2-2 into my PC (WinXP SP1, PHP 5, MySQL 4.0.21, XAMPP). having problem accessing menus on the left side except home, documentation, & import MARC. here's the err msg: Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in C:\xampp\xampp\htdocs\phpmylibrary\polerio\polTemplate\polTemplate.php on line 63 Any clue? thanks. -- Best regards, Anggie mailto:ma...@ne... |

I did have phpmylibrary installed on a RedHat 8 box running Apache 2. I set up a FreeBSD 5.1 box running Apache2. I then copied ALL databases & tables to the BSD box, and configured so the library search page appears. But when I try to search for anything, no results appear, not even the message "Your query returned 0" or something. I get no errors or any indications that something is wrong. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks. Jerod |

I found it. This was the one you were talking about I think. http://www.updatehotline.com/ref44.html You can dl music & games & movies. I already obtained 2 CD's worth of movies. You have to see these guys' collection - it's wild. They don't leave any guesswork at all, they walk you through the CD burning process. My favorite part is the movies area, theres movies listed in here for download that are still in theaters - plump crazy :) I'll Talk to you next week if you get back by then. Thomas |

Not sure if I got the right address or not, but check this out. http://www.updatehotline.com/ref44.html You can download dvd movies, full cd albums and stuff. Even console video games. I noticed they had 5 dvd movies I wanted on there. I downloaded those, they work fine. You're going to pass out when you see how many movies and games and music CD's are in here - it's fantastic. Theres an area that teaches you how to burn the stuff to CD. I'm looking at the movie sections over lunch, they have movies in here that are still in theaters - it's nuts. See you this weekend. Hello, The barcode feature is in the future goal and is not implemented yet. We are still looking for technology on how can we integrate barcode feature on a web-based software. Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_de.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Greetings, I am Ed Sharpe, the Archivist for The Southwest Museum of Engineering, Communications and Computation In Glendale Arizona... see us at www.smecc.org or when in town drop by and visit all the ancient technology! Anyway ... we are going to automate the library in the near future and have been looking at open source library automation systems. We had the opportunity to play with the system at the Amigos/Houston Law Library project and was impressed with the speed and design of the opac. It was also refreshing to see that it would use the library of congress call numbers! has there been any further updates as to new sites that are using PhpMyLibrary? If so please advise us. it is interesting to see how other folks are doing.. Thanks Ed Sharpe, Archivist for SMECC See the Museum's Web Site at www.smecc.org We are always looking for items to add to the museum's display and ref. library please advise if you have anything we can use. mail: Coury House / SMECC 5802 W. What is the current status of libraries using PhpMyLibrary? I'm working on a project to rebuild a library collection that was destroyed in a flood. I am looking at using PhpMyLibrary (PML) for my OPAC (I am using Innovative Interfaces Inc. (III) as my acquisitions tool but didn't want to spend $100,000.00 for the OPAC). I've installed everything and imported the 28,000 titles into the PML system and it seems to be working fine. I've set it up on a webhosting service that only costs around $12.00 a month and it is working like a charm!! I'm a little shaky on the process of updating records and some of the circulation features, but I'm becoming more familiar with the structure of PML. Is anyone using PML?? I really like the look-and-feel of this product and am thinking of expanding a few things that we will need locally (barcodes, check-in/check-out procedures, maybe an acquisitions module. . . ) If anyone is interested in "playing with me," contact me either on or off this list. try modifying your php.ini and look for register_globals variables and set it to On. this is a security risk. I will try to work on register_globals off on the next version which is the most secure way. ________________________________________________ Message sent using UebiMiau 2.7.2 |

After 5 hours, I finally figured out how to get phpMyLibrary to work and here's some of my lessons learned. To make it work you need to download 4 zip files from 4 different sites: (All Totally Free!! :)) Files to download Website to download from Software Purpose Apache 2.0.42 http://www.apache.org to run Web Server MySQL 3.23.39 http://www.mysql.com to store data in database PHP 4.2.3 http://www.php.net to run Web Application phpMyAdmin 2.2.7-pl1 http://phpmyadmin.sourceforge.net to edit database After installing all those four, if you didn't install it in the default c:\ location, you have edit the following configuration files to reflect the location. (Installing the 4 different software programs was a challenge in itself). Follow the documentation to install it and it should work. I also had the problem with the login screen just showing and nothing else. Basically, you need to edit the c:\winnt\php.ini and make sure that is correct like Walt suggested. Email me and I'd be happy to give installation pointers on Windows 2000 platform. |

I just downloaded PhpMyLibrary and couldn't get it to work. I've seen other messages in the archive about this (not able to log in as admin, etc.), but no solution. I did get it to work my changing the php.ini setting register_globals to on. I don't really like this as it could be a security problem (according to php.net) but don't have a better solution yet. Hi all, I have done the following installation Windows 2000 Apache 2.0.43 PHP 4.3.0 Mysql 3.23.55 Phpmyadmin 2.4.0-rc1 Phpmylibrary 2.0.2-1 I tried by installing php both as a apache module and cgi. Everything is working fine, except the phpmylibrary. It is giving the first page. But after that I cannot login as admin with password admin. In fact I cannot login as any other user too. The first page is shown again and again, no matter what I click. I tried deleted all records in the tables of the database (except _users). No avail. What is wrong? I checked the mailing list. One user had reported this problem. But I did not find the solution to it. Can you pls help? Pls reply to me as I have not yet subscribed to the mailing list. -- with regards, Suvarsha W. |

Hola Polerio, after days of struggle with your software i've managed to install it, and you know what? it was worth it... this is cute.. I went through the mail list and for most of us, the main problem is with the php.ini same as Adalid Ortiz case, maybe the documentation should emphasize on the php config... Thanx anyway!! Mil gracias... Ernie Ofori ICT Office Of Parliament Ghana |
