Ahh. this is because it is the time that PHP gets from the server. If a users PC clock is off, you would want the server to say that the ticket was submitted at the correct time (assuming that your server is keeping time). -----Original Message----- From: php...@li... Greetings all, I've just completed a demo install of PHPHelpDesk for a client, but am having one small problem. The helpdesk system is running on my website again as a demo for them and when they enter their e-mail addresses the typical end user only enters the username portion of their e-mail, so my local mail server appends my domain name causing the e-mail to bounce. I've set the $g_mailservername to their mailserver, but phpheldesk doesn't seem to use this. Any suggestions on how to override this? Or am I just stuck with making the end-users enter their full e-mail address. David, It is possible to do this. What you would need to do is to have your call center enter the ticket information. Whatever department/company you put the ticket in is what department inbox it will go into (It really only goes to one spot). Then you have users from those departments that can only view their department tickets. This way, although all the tickets go to one location, it looks as if they are all separate inboxes to the users. =20 As far as the comments part, I need to add this. You can setup a user for each department that has the ability to view department tickets. This way they can logon to the web site and at least see the progress of their ticket. On a side note, I am trying to get PHP Helpdesk internationalized. Spanish is one language that nobody has talked to me about yet. If you have any time to possibly go through the program and write out a document with translations for me, The PHP Helpdesk crew would really appreciate it. What I'm looking for from you is something like this: LOGIN PAGE: What department are you in? ?Spanish equivelant would be here? Username: Again Spanish equivelant here Password: Etc..etc.. MAIN PAGE: Status: Spanish equivelant Departments: Spanish equivelant Last on: Etc..etc.. So if you have time, I'm sure many Spanish speaking PHP Helpdesk users would really appreciate it. Thanks, Joe -----Original Message----- From: David Sede=F1o Fern=E1ndez [mailto:fr...@us...]=20 Sent: Friday, May 04, 2001 11:30 AM To: hoo...@us... Subject: Some comments about phphelpdesk Hi! Hi First of all great work guys this has come on so much since I looked at 0.4. I do have a couple of questions/problems. I'm trying to run it on a Cobalt Raq - no problem there until it sends a mail it sends it as root@raq1234 which is the server name this gets refused by other servers as it doesn't route to an existing server. Is it possible to code where it comes from somewhere without altering php.ini as this is virtual server with other sites. Secondly is it possible to get it to send a mail to fixed account every time a job is added i.e. to a web phone/pager. I saw reference to this in addjob but couldn't work it out any further. Help please Regards Gavin |

Hi, I just downloaded the program and installed it. Problem is that once I = log in I end up in a loop. If I stop the browser and examine the source = code this is what I find at the end: <CENTER><a = href=3D"http://tanbo.sthk.posten.se/phphelpdesk//index.php?whattodo=3Dvie= wjobs&lstChooseCompany[0]=3DHuman = Resources&lstChooseCompany[1]=3DIT&lstChooseCompany[2]=3DSales&lstChooseC= ompany[3]=3D&lstChooseCompany[4]=3D&lstChooseCompany[5]=3D&lstChooseCompa= ny[6]=3D&lstChooseCompany[7]=3D&lstChooseCompany[8]=3D&lstChooseCompany[9= ]=3D&lstChooseCompany[10]=3D&lstChooseCompany[11]=3D&lstChooseCompany[12]= =3D&lstChooseCompany[13] ... and so on. From what I can gather from the code the offending thing is in = vj_choosecompany.scp.php, but that is generated in for example = viewjobs.scp.php like this: for ($i=3D0; $i < sizeof($departments); $i++) { $lstChooseCompany[$i] =3D $departments[$i]; } Seems like the sizeof returns something weird and the loop creates one = mother of a vector. Anybody seen this before? I checked the archives and could not find = anything which I find strange. There must be something wrong with my = installation in that case and I would really like to know what. Sincerely yours Karl-Koenig Koenigsson |

Phil, You are welcome to help out with the development of PHPHelpdesk. In order to help out, you just need to sign up on an account at sourceforge. I can then add you to the developers. So far, it seems that only a couple people have really been modifying the code. That's not a problem because we need many other things done for the program as well. For example, graphics, documentation, and internationalization are three big things that I would like to add to the program. As far as the bug goes, what version of the program do you have? The latest version is 0.5.8, which I think may have fixed the problem that you are discussing. If not, please let me know what text that you have to add to make it work. I just upgraded to 0.5.8 from 0.4.4 and noticed the following, which may be helpful to some: - If you have set up your phphelpdesk to be a subdirectory of your site, you need to include a trailing slash ( / ) at the end of the directory. However, if you do this, then your menus are not properly configured, and you can't, for instance, successfully log you out (at least it didn't work for me with IE 5.5). You will get a double slash between your directory and the file, as in www.mydomain.com/phphelpdesk//index.php. - To fix this, simply edit config/whattodo_items.conf.php, and do a bulk replace of href=3D3D\"$g_base_url/index.php with href=3D3D\"".$g_base_url."index.php Note that you should ONLY do this if your phphelpdesk is in a subdirectory. Hope this helps some of you. Brian Razzaque President Vision Multimedia Technologies, LLC www.vmtllc.com |

|The piece of software is fantastic. | |However, I am having a problem with my set-up. I have changed the mail |server in the config file, but when I add a ticket no e-mails are sent. First off, what platform are you running phphelpdesk on? The instructions listed below are made assuming a *nix system. Second, php has a few options concerning e-mail in the php.ini file, that are used as parameters for php's mail()-function, which phphelpdesk uses. Unless the server you're running phphelpdesk on is also an e-mail server with a valid mx-record (ie. a live, dns-registered mailserver), you'll need to trick sendmail into seeing your originating address as a valid one, in order for the message to validate properly. A 'tail /var/log/maillog' should present you with a bunch of messages that are delayed or paused, due to missing validation. At line 320-325 approx. of php.ini, you'll find a section celled [mail function]. Since my server will not be recognized as a valid mailserver by my ISPs smtp- and dns-servers, I added the -f option to php.inis sendmail-path. Thus, my [mail function] reads as follows: SMTP = localhost ;for win32 only (not necessarily true. uncomment this line) sendmail_from = som...@yo...main (def. which add. the msgs. will originate from) sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i -f va...@my...main Give it a try, and see how it works. (Note that httpd will need to be restarted for the changes to apply.) \aw |

The piece of software is fantastic. However, I am having a problem with my set-up. I have changed the mail server in the config file, but when I add a ticket no e-mails are sent. Have you any ideas on fixing this problem. Regards Stuart Drennan Manager Northern Ireland Networking www.ninet.ws |

It deals with cookies and how IE handles cookies versus the way everything else handles them. I thought that it may have been fixed, but apparently people are still having problems with this. The only fix that I can give you at the moment is this: In /includes/cookie.inc.php and /includes/logout.inc.php there are some things that you should change. Just take out the lines that say something like "If (HTTP_AGENT_HEADER="MSIE") { } . Get rid of the if/else and basically just make everything do what the "else {}" section does. This is for both of those files. If you change one, and not the other, then you won't be able to logout and you will have to wait for the cookie to timeout. Hello, I installed phphelpdesk as indicated in the INTSTALL file. When I log in as admin with password admin I get a screen with fake data. When I try to add a Department or Add a user I get redirected back to the login form... Any ideas on how I can resolve this issue? Thanks Phil |
