I had the same problem when I first set up PHP Helpdesk. Here is the solution I got from a previous post. You should try reading through the previous posts. Usually they have solutions for most problems. For those of us suffering with the error: <snip> >When I am adding a user, I select the available departments for the user and >hit Add. > >I get the following error. >In this case I was adding a user called test and I chose one department. > >SQL ERROR: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '='test'' at line 1 > >If I select multiple departments, I will get the same error repeated like >so: >SQL ERROR: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '='test'' at line 1 > >SQL ERROR: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '='test'' at line 1 > >SQL ERROR: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '='test'' at line 1 > <snip> Here is the answer: Edit your adduser.scp.php file. Look for a line that ends with ...userdepartments"; Add a space before the " so it reads ...userdepartments "; -----Original Message----- From: bw...@it... Hi folks, I'm having a little setup problem, hopefully someone can punt me in the right direction... My setup is... WinXP pro, IIS5, MySql3.23.47-nt, PHP 4.1.1 When I load up the main phphelpdesk page I get the following error showing up on the right hand side... Executed SQL: SELECT events.e_id, events.t_id, events.e_status, events.e_assignedto, ticket.t_id FROM events, ticket WHERE events.t_id = ticket.t_id ORDER BY events.t_id, events.e_id; (35 rows affected.) Open Tickets: 4 Assigned to you otherwise the screen looks normal. When I log in using Admin it gives a bunch more errors listed below... Executed SQL: SELECT * FROM security WHERE s_user='admin' AND s_password='admin'; (1 rows affected.) Executed SQL: SELECT d_name FROM userdepartments WHERE s_user='admin'; (3 rows affected.) We are looking at using this software for our Network Operations Center, and being that I am a PHP/MySQL newbie I had a couple questions. 1. The Pop Location area in the new ticket submission. Is there a way to add that to the database similar to the "Category" listing. (Without a major rewrite of the database/software?) We want to administer the list of names for the Pops being that each of the contacts we have for each customer may call the same pop two diffrent things. :-) 2. I also wanted to see if there was a way to have e-mail sent out to a default account "ANY"time a new ticket was entered. 3. Another question is concerning when updates are made to the tickets. Is there a way to send notification each time a ticket is updated to keep the customers informed of any changes. Even including when a ticket is assigned and reassigned. I appreceiate any and all help that you can give me! This software rocks!!! Thanks! ------------------------------------------------------ Mike Mentges Manager/Net-Admin ComNet Network Operations Center mailto:mme...@br... Thanks for the config files. I checked both and didn't find any difference between them. I tried downgrading, but I would have broken a couple of dependencies. I am running Windows 2000 and IIS 5. Number 2 or 3 should work. (preferablly #2) Since your using windows, I have to ask: Is your SMTP set to the proper outgoing machine in your php.ini file? the value should be set like such SMTP = outgoing.mailserver.com The default most likely looks like this: ------ [mail function] ; For Win32 only. SMTP = localhost ------ This is typically the same machine you set your "outgoing SMTP" in outlook or other mail client. I hope this helps. -k |

Hi John, Sending mail through a POP3 server is not possible. You must send it via a SMTP mailserver. The server running phphelpdesk must be able to send mail and need to know the smtp server it can send mail to. In the configuration you give the name of the domain the mail is coming from. It is used in the "From:" header field and nothing more. It does not say anything about how to send mail. That is something the operating system must be able to do. Thanks for your reply. The lines are in functions.inc.php. Is there anything else I can check? THX Karl ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark E. I maybe should mention that I'm using the stable release and cvs with the same results. Hello, I just installed phphelpdesk and I'm getting the same error msg Fatal error: Cannot redeclare showsummary() in /www/devel/helpdesk/includes/functions.inc.php on line 61 Is there a patch out or can somebody point me in the right direction? TIA Karl --------------------------- FROM: Andrew DATE: 11/28/2001 17:15:53 SUBJECT: RE: [Phphelpdesk-help] PHPHelpDesk and Debian Testing There is code in the functions script that prevents it from being included more than once .. Maybe the current CVS version is not what you have installed .. Check your includes/functions.inc.php file .. The first few lines of my version look like this: <?php // Global Functions if( isset( $FUNCTIONS ) ) { return; } $FUNCTIONS=1; These lines prevent the rest of the file from being imported more than once. I have a nagging suspicion that there are a lot of little bug fixes like this that are not in the most recent release .. I will talk to Joe, to project leader, and we will look into making a new release which includes these fixes. Also, someone from the list says he will send me some patches, so I would like to include those also. Hope this helps; Andrew On Wednesday 28 November 2001 15:21, you wrote: > Hello. Howdy, folks. I must be missing it due to the late night, but can anyone point me in the direction of the documentation of how the database is laid out and what each table is used for? I'm assuming there's a more succinct version of this documentation than "pore through the sourcecode"? :) This relates to a question: We're using PHPH to track time spent for clients. Pursuant to this, I need to have a report that shows me, between any given two dates, how much time each person's spent on a given company. That report does not currently seem to exist, right? I'm happy to create it, assuming I'm not recreating the wheel :) -roy |

I cut'n'pasted something similar into my addjob.scp.php and vj_closejob.scp= .php files to give me this functionality. if you replace $mailto =3D "$t_useremail"; with=20 $mailto =3D getuseremailaddress($Company); and you've set each school's/department's email address to the principal's = email address, it should do what you want. Hello, I work for a medium sized school system and I am trying to customize phphelpdesk to better suit our needs. I have setup my departments to represent each school. I would like to automatically send an email to each principal of the school/department whenever a ticket is opened for thier school. I don't want this to be a user available option. Just something that happens behind the scenes. Here's what I've done so far: 1. Bought a PHP book 2. Created a column called " t_adminemail " in the TABLE " ticket " inside my database. It is indentical to the " t_useremail " used in the file addjob.scp.php 3. What I need to know now is how to write a statement that is something like this: IF $l_deparmtent = Jones High School, THEN $mailto=pri...@jo... IF $l_deparmtent = Smith Elementary School, THEN $mailto=pri...@sm... See what I'm trying to do? I'm very new to PHP so any help is greatly appreciated. Please remember to reply in newbie language since I'm not a programmer by default. I also want to Thank everyone who has helped to create this terrific tool. Our school's are not wealthy and a free option was our only hope. Thank you very much! Sincerely, John Ferrell |

That's a really bad thing to do, as it means the files on your system can be modified by anyone with a login to your system. 644 for files and 755 for directories is always enough. 644 means owner can read and write, group and everyone else can only read. 755 means owner can read, write, and execute, everyone else can read and execute. If you are using groups, you might use 664 for files and 775 for directories, but 777 is definitely wrong - it is a gaping hole to give these rights anywhere on your system that you remotely care about. Hi, I really find your software to be interesting especially it conforms with a requirement to keep track of problem escalation more efficiently. I already installed and configure apache-php and mysql, notice that you don't have any details on the database especially on how many tables to be created, what are the variables to be included, and so more. My concern on what will be the data structure that will be used on this software. Hope for your response.
