A release of php set the "register_globals" to off by default. you're probably using php 4.2.x or higher. (I am unsure of the exact version number. I was released=20 earlier this year.) phpHelpdesk is not compliant with php when globals are turned off. Either turn globals on, or find and fix it through out the code. I began fixing it in mine when I upgraded my php, but needed to use the software, so I had to turn globals back on in order to continue to use it. -k On Thu, 26 Sep 2002, Paul Fernandez wrote: > Hello, > =20 > I have seen this problem in the archives but no answer... You have a couple of options, option 1 is to go into MySQL and remove the entries using the command line (a pain unlesss you are god at SQL commands), option 2 is to use a graphical (web) database browser like phpMyAdmin and remove them. If you are going to be using MySQL databases I strongly recommend installing phpMyAdmin. It is an awsome tool. http://www.phpmyadmin.org/ Good luck, Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Bulson" <bul...@mu...> To: <php...@li...> Sent: Thursday, September 19, 2002 11:37 AM Subject: [Phphelpdesk-help] Remove open tickets from old (setup) department > I installed, setup my own department and removed the sales, IT, and HR > departments from helpdesk, but there must have been tickets left open in > those examples because the header file shows 4 more open tickets than > what I actually have. I've just installed phphelpdesk in /usr/local/apache/htdocs. I'm running RH 7.3, mysql 3.23.51 and php 4.2.2 on a PII 300 PC. I'm also new to linux. I'm having a problem with the permissions associated with the admin functions of adding departments and users, deleting tickets, assigning tickets, etc. The problem is browser independent. I'm using I.E. 6.0, Netscape 4.76.0.11, and Mozilla 1.0. I've tried to gain some functionality by adding my username to the root group and adding my username to the permissions on the apache and mysql directories with show, write, enter, and special classes selected. When I try to add a new department, the error message states that I do not have root privileges. When I try to add a new user, the error message tells me that I do not have administrative privileges. I added my username to the security table with the same options as admin. (By the way, admin works the same.) If you could nudge me in the right direction or tell me what to read, I'd appreciate it. If you search the archives, you will see some other questions to the same= =20 effect. PHPhelpDesk actually has this built in to some degree. When som= eone=20 submits a ticket, they have the option to check 'email this ticket'. The= =20 option defaults to 'no'. I just changed the option to default to 'yes'. = It=20 worked pretty well for me. PHPHelpDesk is great! I have a question about the mailing option. When assigning a ticket to a person an e-mail is suppose to be sent, correct? But for some reason I doesn't send for me. The error is in addjop.scp.php. Since the product is being used on an intranet the outside world cannot view it. I get this error: Warning: Failed to Connect in c:\apache\htdocs\helpdesk\scripts\addjob.scp.php on line 98 The code for that line is: mail($mailto, $mailsubject, $mailbody, $mailheader); The functions mailto, mailsubject, mailbody, and mailheader is: $mailto = "row[0]"; $mailsubject = "$g_title - $l_summary: $txtSummary - $l_priority: $optPriority"; $mailbody = "$txtSummary"; $mailbody .= "\n\n"; $mailbody .= "$txtDetail"; $mailbody .= "\n\n"; $mailbody .= "$l_senton $current_date $l_from $user"; $mailheader = "From: $user@$g_mailservername"; One of the thoughts of reason for not working was that our mail server requires a SMTP username inorder to send mail. In the general.conf.php file: $g_mailservername = sultan.k12.wa.us I see the MySQL Query commands in the earlier part of the code. (Before row[0]) if ($optMailuser == "yes") { $queryemail = "SELECT s_email FROM security "; $queryemail .= "WHERE s_user='$lstAssignedto';"; $mysql_result = query($queryemail); $row = mysql_fetch_row($mysql_result); Since I am still new to PHP and MySQL Databasing and my knowledge on MySQL query commands is very limited I can only imagine what SELECT and FROM are. I viewed the database and found that s_email is a row in the security table. I also figured that "s" identifies it as "security." Anyway, PHPHelpDesk is an awesome product and will help the Sultan School District's Tech department answer problems throughout the district and I would really appreciate the help. Thank you. Sincerely, Michael Segle |

I had the same problem with my server. It was working great on server A... I copied all of the files to a server B. Same OS (FreeBSD), same directory structure, upgraded Apache and mod_PHP. I copied the same httpd.conf from server A to B and reset my Apache. Nothing. I finally got it working when I moved it to server C. This is very odd. I was not able to find a resolution, but I think it is something in the mod_php. I believe this is a bug that props up between PHP 4.0.X and PHP 4.1.X. It looks like originally setcookie accepted string-formatted expiration dates but sometime in the near past it stopped doing so. I'm a little surprised nobody else has encountered it. I figure one of three possibilities exists: A) Everyone's running an old version of PHP; B) Everyone just fixed it for themselves; C) I misunderstood the nature of this bug Either way, the CVS repository is now fixed, so you can take out that file from the repository. If you don't know how to do that, here's what I did: The original two lines of cookie.inc.php: $time = time()+$g_cookietimeout; $date = date("l, d-M-y H:i:s", ($time)); I changed that to: $date = time()+$g_cookietimeout; // $date = date("l, d-M-y H:i:s", ($time)); -roy |

I have the need to be able to modify the text after the event has been submitted with the "AddEvent" button on an open ticket. I will be adding this functionality, but I don't want to rewrite the wheel. If anyone has any changes/additions that do this please post them. thanks.. -k |
