Anybody on list know of how I can do the following in php

ping 10.50.50.50
it has to return "UP" or "DOWN"

maybe using the system( ) function=20
system (ping 10.50.50.50)=20

but how do you get it to return up or down

[Phphelpdesk-help] Problem with login

I can't login after succsful install 
I install phphelpdesk on SuSE 8.1 with last php 
instalatin is OK 
the mashine name is test domain si give by dhcp 
then the mashine name is test.mls.sl.be 
i setup the mysql it is OK 
then i made settings in dg.config.php 
in general.config.php 
for: 
g_base_url="http://test.mls.sl.be/phphelpdesk/" 
g_domain="mls.sl.be" 

then i go to the baseurl 
the first page apper but when I click on login or 
it problem or other form this links notting happened 
the first page reloaded, there aren't any error in log filese 

please help me how to resolve thsi problem?

converted to sessions if anyone needs help they can

Yes I have been looking for a way to do this as well and I found it in
conjunction with the email posted here called: Automatic email send with
ticket creation.  There was a chunk of code posted there to add to the
vj_addevent.scp.php script.  Once I added that I changed the $mailto
variable to "$lstAssignedto" - this will send it to the new assignee.  This
variable looks like number one - 1stAssignedto - but after trying this a
couple of times trying to find the correct variable I noticed that it is
actually a lower-case letter l.  I changed it to l and it worked.  Hope this
helps.

 If you search the archives, you will see some other questions to the same
 effect.  PHPhelpDesk actually has this built in to some degree.  When
someone
 submits a ticket, they have the option to check 'email this ticket'.  The
 option defaults to 'no'.  I just changed the option to default to 'yes'.

Thanks for your posting and code.  I added it to the script you mentioned
and was able to get the email portion working.  I copied the code into the
script so that when I assign a ticket to another user an email will be sent
to that user.  I saw a couple of postings on that question as well.  To get
that to work I simply added your code to the vj_addevent.scp.php script and
then changed the $mailto variable to "$lstAssignedto" - this will send it to

 Yes Paul there is. This is a simple edit, but it works.
 Edit addjob.scp.php.
 Find $mailto = "$txtUserEmail";
 Change it to $mailto = "$txtUserEmail, paul.greidanus@ua...";
 You can add as many recipients as you like separated by commas.

 I have even modified my scripts so an email is sent to the user when ever
an
 event is added, that way they are notified whenever I update their ticket.
 If you want that ability add the following to vj_addevent.scp.php after the
 last occurrence of $mysqlresult = query($query); (It's near the bottom).
 Watch for wrapped text below. Each line begins with $mailbody except for
the

When i login as soon as i click a link it boots me out
to home page. I see in the Forums lots of people have
this issue how can i resolve this. I have no issues
with Netscape.

This app is not compliant with respect to global 
variables. To operate properly, you will need to turn
on the "register_globals" in our systems' php.ini 
configuration file.

To check if this is your problem, create a php file
and add the following line:
<? phpinfo() ?>

Then view it via a browser. In the "Configuration - PHP Core"
section it will have a line like so:
register_globals	Off 		Off 

If it says off/off then you do not have them on. This is your
problem.

it seems like an Apache configuration problem...
Have you set up the authentication correctly? Please look at the
PHP-HelpDesk docs for more info on this issue. There you'll find some useful
examples on how to fix your problem.

PHP-HelpDesk has been working fine for some months now, but now suddenly
it's creating what I believe are parasite tables...

Please, look at the following output for 'show tables':

The parasite tables are those begining with a number.

These tables also produce an error, for example:

It doesn't matter if I (double)quote the table name... I still get the same
error.

Furthermore, these tables do have the following associated files:

ls -l 74.*

So, my questions:

	* where do these tables/files come from?
	* how can I get rid of them?

are not available when the hyperlink is selected.  What did we do wrong?

This does not work on the demo either.

it should be there.(in the apache src dir)
When you configured php did you tell it where
the apache source tree is?

like so when installing php (this is what I did):

	cd ../php-4.2.3
        ./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.26  \
          --enable-track-vars
	make
	make install

Hi there.

New to list will hopefully get the help that I need here.
I've gone to the step by step manual on devshed on how to set up

MySQL
php
apache

I'm at the point where I have to configure apache
./configure --activate-module=3Dsrc/modules/php4/libphp4.a \
--enable-module=3Dphp4 \
--prefix=3D/usr/local/apache=20

but I've noticed that the file libphp4.a files is not there.

Actually the whole directory for php4 in gone.
how many file should be in there and where do I find them if I can download=
 it.

I've searched just about every where and tried to understand what to do but=
 with no success.

Running Redhat 8=20
Please inform me if use need more info for assistance.

This would be greatly appreciated.

are you saying that the index.php login page is reloading
when you attempt to login?

if so, most likely you have register globals turned off in your
php.ini file.

I had a similar problem when I moved my PHPhelpdesk to a new server.
I copied the entire phphelpdesk data and mysql data to the new server.
I copied my apache config and my MySQL config to the new server.
When I went to log in, it just refreshed the page back to the login.
I never was able to get it working on that server.  I ended up
reinstalling
PHP and Apache on a different server and copying all data to it.  As far
as I could tell, it seems to be a PHP or Apache problem.

comment out your $time and $date variables in the top of
the file:

/home/mattdpet/public_html/phphelpdesk/includes/cookie.inc.php

And replace it with this:

$date = time()+$g_cookietimeout;

I've installed and am trying to get phphelpdesk working and am using my
personal site as a test installation.  You can see it at

I'm getting the following errors when I try to login
