It is true that this feature was accidentally forgotten from 2.x, as it was added late to 1.1. The funny part is that most of the code for it actually is still in the application. It just isn't hooked up all the way through the UI. However, I'm currently treating v2.0 as string-frozen for internationalization purposes, and this feature does require menu items with text, so it may get pushed to 2.1. That being said, the 2.0 beta is (hopefully) stable enough at this point that I may start merging my fixes back into trunk and get the pre-2.1 development build into a useful state again. Once I do, this may be one of the first features I implement. (Of course if I do have most of the internationalization strings for this feature in the 1.1 code, I may be able to just sneak it into 2.0 anyways. We'll see.) -Derek On 03/09/2011 04:34 PM, Don Ireland wrote: > It is my understanding that the code for 2.x was almost completely rewritten from the ground up. It is my understanding that the code for 2.x was almost completely rewritten from the ground up. Although I'm sure some of the basic protocol stuff was ported over. With that being the case, it's pretty easy and understandable to drop a feature that was there. However, I have seen a ticket in which this was requested. Don't forget that Derek is basically donating his time & efforts to this project and we all benefit from that. -- Don Ireland On Tue, 8 Mar 2011 17:15:54 -0600, W2HX wrote: > Wow! What can I say? It is my understanding that the code for 2.x was almost completely rewritten from the ground up. Although I'm sure some of the basic protocol stuff was ported over. With that being the case, it's pretty easy and understandable to drop a feature that was there without realizing it. However, I have seen a ticket in which this was requested. -- Don Ireland On Tue, 8 Mar 2011 17:15:54 -0600, W2HX wrote: > Wow! What can I say? Wow! What can I say? I had been using 1.1 for a few years and never upgraded because I was running 4.2 on my 8310 I finally upgraded the bb and was able to get 2.0 working. What an incredible upgrade! So many new capabilities! Most important to me was switching identities at the time of composing the email. Really useful! One feature in the old version that was sorta semi-implemented that I was hoping would be fully implemented seems to be completely gone? Marking a message as unread. In the 1.1 version you could only mark a msg as unread (or unopened forget which) while you are reading the msg. most email tools (including the blackberry bes email client) allows that and also when you are looking at the list of messages. You could move the cursor ontop of the message and have a menu of options such as open the message or mark as unread. 1.1 did not allow marking the msg as unread from the msg list. So whenever I exited a msg and forgot to mark it, I would have to open it again, wait for it to download and then mark. Have I overlooked this function in 2.0? Its a really useful function because I use that to remind me to read more carefully or respond to an email (basically save for later) Thanks and again, what a massive improvement to the software! -- 73 Eugene W2HX |

I created a ticket for this a few weeks ago. I've done some more checking and testing. As a result, I have some more info. But I've been unable to login. The ticket number is 302. I've found that if I turn off "Hide Deleted Messages", the deleted Draft messages DO appear (but marked as deleted). But I can't remove them permanently from the list. -- Don Ireland |

We have some other Blackberry models 7290, 8110, 8210, 8310 and 8520 so I will try LogicMail on these next. Okay, it appears that the 8700 may be the *only* BlackBerry still out there that can both run OS 4.5 and has the vintage thumbwheel for navigation. At this point, LogicMail pretty much assumes you have a more modern device where the "trackball click" and the "menu button" are separate actions. As such, I've never even tested the current code on a device like yours, and I'm not sure how usable it will even be. Normally, the menu options you are looking for would appear on the Configuration screen, if you clicked the Menu button while something in the "Accounts" section is selected. -Derek On Mon, 28 Feb 2011 16:11 +0000, "andy thomas" <an...@ti...> wrote: > On Thu, 24 Feb 2011, Derek Konigsberg wrote: > > > To use POP3 instead of IMAP, you have to configure a new account. You should see > two options of interest: > - New account wizard... > - Add account When I start Logicmail on a 8700, after the LogicMail animated greeting I'm put into the 'LogicMail - Home' page. This has three lines: Local Folders Outbox DNM test (the last is my test account). Clicking on 'Local Folders' or 'DNM test' with the trackwheel (the menu button on a 8700) does nothing but double-clicking on 'Outbox' gets ne into the Configuration page with the 'Identities', 'Accounts', etc pages as described in the set-up guide. But there's no 'New accounts wizard...' or 'Add account' options - how do I get these to appear on a 8700? > The wizard is the guided configuration sequence you saw when initially > installing the app. The other option just creates a blank account > configuration where you have to fill in all the settings. > > An existing account configuration cannot be switched between POP and > IMAP, since there are a lot of differences (in the advanced options, and > how LogicMail handles the mail data) between the two. Thanks for the explanation. As I can't get into some of the configuration pages for some reason, and re-installing LogicMail doesn't solve this, can ypu tell me how I can delete my LogicMail saved settings so that I can reinstall again and get to the initial wizard? Maybe my 8700 is just too old? Ok thanks. Too bad it couldn't import/migrate those settings during install. At least now I know to write them all down before attempting the install! thanks 73 Eugene W2HX -----Original Message----- From: Derek Konigsberg [mailto:dko...@lo...] Sent: Sunday, February 27, 2011 5:01 PM To: log...@li... When one does an upgrade from 1.1 to 2.0 do all of the settings (smtp server, imap, ports etc) get carried over? Or do I need to put them all in from scratch? Thx -- 73 Eugene W2HX |

To use POP3 instead of IMAP, you have to configure a new account. On the configuration page (click the menu button, select "Configuration"), go to the "Accounts" section and press the menu button. You should see two options of interest: - New account wizard... - Add account The wizard is the guided configuration sequence you saw when initially installing the app. The other option just creates a blank account configuration where you have to fill in all the settings. An existing account configuration cannot be switched between POP and IMAP, since there are a lot of differences (in the advanced options, and how LogicMail handles the mail data) between the two. -Derek On 2/24/2011 3:00 AM, andy thomas wrote: > I have upgraded the operating system on a Blackberry 8700 to version 4.5 > and done an OTA installation of LogicMail 2.0.0.257. I have upgraded the operating system on a Blackberry 8700 to version 4.5 and done an OTA installation of LogicMail 2.0.0.257. The installation was successful and at the end of it, the installer took me to the setup process where I was able to set up an IMAP account but the connection test reported no connection could be made. I've since fixed my T-Mobile UK TCP/IP network settings and installed the Opera browser, which now works fine. But how do I get back into the set-up and connection tests at the end of the installer? I can't get my my Blackberry to connect to any IMAP server and I would like to try a POP3 server instead but can't see how it can be reconfigured to do this. I've tried reinstalling LogicMail but it finds my old settings so doesn't go into set up. Andy |

The "simple OTA downloads" page is: http://logicmail.org/ota The long link gets updated every time I check in code and the build server cranks out a new revision. The simple page is updated manually, at a slower pace. Its been a while since I've updated the simple page, mainly because I've been working a complex IMAP issue that's still a work-in-progress. (I've checked in a lot of code for it, but am not yet 100% done, so the main ticket is still open. Its the one about handling untagged responses, if you look on the website.)
