Hi Thanks for fixing the signature position issue, I now have a few feature requests for Logicmail. (Most are just useful features in other clients.) Transports ========== 1. Include all configured blackberry email accounts (and PIN message) as folders, allow replies to be sent using any account (SMTP or Blackberry). (Locigmail doesn't work on BIS for me.) 2. Usenet access. Text email display enhancements. ================================ (all as options) a. colour and use a smaller font for quoted text. The colour dependant on the number of chevrons. eg. one chevron - blue, 2 chevrons - red, 3 chevrons - cyan. Similar to Thunderbird's quotecolors addon, (with background colouring, solid bars disabled) b. grey out signature c. auto scroll to first new text, (for when people forget to trim interleaved replies.) Text email composition enhancements. ==================================== (all as options) Only quote selected text in replies, if nothing selected either (options); i; quote everything (as currently). ii; quote up to the sig separator, or the start of any trailing previously quoted messages iii; quote nothing Display and Composition enhancements. ===================================== (all as options) Tidy chevrons; remove spaces from between quoting chevrons and remove chevrons from any blank lines ie "> > > Some text " "> > > " "> > > Some more text" Becomes ">>> Some text " " " ">>> Some more text" Delete multiple blank lines. Thanks -- Jess Hampshire Plain text emails with interleaved, trimmed replies please. (RFC 1855) |

It's not just about notifications, but also about having the message downloaded and ready for you when you open the appropriate folder. (And for the record I don't really care either way, IDLE support is good enough for me and I primarily use LogicMail to access the same IMAP account that I have added as a BES account just to access alternate folders that I don't normally push through BES) |

Hey, I agree new message waiting notification isnt high on my priority list either, a small utility app might be better for those wanting instant gratification! On the really cheeky request side of things, I would love a version of logic mail for Android. I miss it when Im using my android! Thanks for the hard work on logicmail, its a great app! This sounds like a possible bug. Please send me a useful bug report so I can work the issue. First, is this IMAP or POP? Second, it would be helpful to send me the raw MIME source (that gunk you see when you do View->"Message Source" or similar in a desktop e-mail client) of some of these messages that fail to display. > For the Storm, a delete icon would be really nice. There are several > blank icon spots in the folder view. Make one of them message delete. I totally agree, and plan to implement this for several screens directly into 2.0 during the beta period, since its really pretty simple to do: http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail/ticket/254 > Multiple message move/delete. IOW, the UI should support marking > multiple messages and deleting or moving them. If you can’t do this, > move should at least default to the last selected folder. For deleting, you can use a hot-key (on keyboard devices), or the shortcut I will be implementing for #254 above. For copy/move, I'll add a simple "Remember last folder" usability enhancement into 2.0: http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail/ticket/255 Multi-select support itself will be quite a bit more complicated. The BlackBerry UI does not lend itself to the multi-select listbox approach used by desktop applications. You'd need some sort of per-item checkbox (Fastmail does this for their webmail interface), but it would need to be invisible unless used. Also, triggering that "check" function would be harder on a Storm than on a keyboard device. Here's the feature-request ticket, for 2.1: http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail/ticket/256 > Bucketing messages. Right now, you bucket by day. What I would like to > see is if the message is older than two days but this week, create a > heading called “this week”. If it’s prior to the start of this week, but > less than two weeks old, make heading called “last week”. For all other > messages, make a folder named “Older”. The current grouping approach is directly based on how the BlackBerry messaging application does things. I can make the grouping configurable, as you suggest, provided everyone can agree on what the options are. The folders are directly based on how things look on the mail server itself. This matter may need more discussion before it can become a simple feature request. > Attachment handling. It would be nice if you could handle at least the > same mime types that the blackberry mail program can handle. E.G. PDFS, > images, and Office Docs. Feature request ticket created: http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail/ticket/257 > For me, all of these are more important that message counts or > background message checking. For me too, actually, but you'd be amazed at how many people disagree. I've been getting E-Mails asking how to configure background message checking since 1.0, maybe even earlier. I just hope they don't revolt when it starts draining their battery. :-P -- ---------------------------- Derek Konigsberg dko...@lo... ---------------------------- |

FWIW, here are my things for 2.x: LogicMail can't open some messages. Just say's there are no parts to display or it can't display the parts. For the Storm, a delete icon would be really nice. There are several blank icon spots in the folder view. Make one of them message delete. Multiple message move/delete. IOW, the UI should support marking multiple messages and deleting or moving them. If you can't do this, move should at least default to the last selected folder. Bucketing messages. Right now, you bucket by day. What I would like to see is if the message is older than two days but this week, create a heading called "this week". If it's prior to the start of this week, but less than two weeks old, make heading called "last week". For all other messages, make a folder named "Older". Attachment handling. It would be nice if you could handle at least the same mime types that the blackberry mail program can handle. E.G. PDFS, images, and Office Docs. For me, all of these are more important that message counts or background message checking. Sorry for hijacking the thread. The option present is 'Select Address' not 'Paste'. Iow, selected text cannot be pasted, only address book entries can be used where an email address is present. In general, the Paste option (paste from system clipboard buffer) should be present in any field that serves as text entry. F.ex. it is present in the Subject and Body fields, as it should be. I find that the context menu is identical to the Menu button menu, by the way. Thanks for addressing the issue so quickly, -- Peter --- On Tue, 12/28/10, Derek Konigsberg <dko...@lo...> wrote: Note: Please don't reply to announcement e-mails unrelated to your issue. Small feature request: In 1.9.1.217 (which I have) there is no way to Paste from the menu while in the address field of the email composer. The server got "accidentally" shut down on Sunday, due to some confusion amongst those actually managing the systems at the hosting facility. (Its a co-op arrangement, and they thought my system was one of the ones that's no longer in use. The guess-work was great. Latest build fixes the problem. Lots of thanks. ----- I think it did help. It took some code-reviewing and some guess-work, but my current theory is that my INBOX-searching code was case-sensitive, when it should have been case-insensitive. (and Yahoo! doesn't send the INBOX in all-caps, according to your log) I checked in a fix, so give the latest build (227) a try, and let me know if it fixes the problem. |

Okay, that's the important part. This is already a known issue, and a bug is already written up on the website for it. Lack of a writable filesystem is not currently supported, and plugging in the phone in mass-storage mode makes your phone's filesystem inaccessible. I need to fix this before 2.0 is done, of course. (Either with an error message, or with alternate local data behavior) Both for startup, and for the case of plugging the phone in while LM is already running. -Derek On Wed, 17 Nov 2010, [iso-8859-1] Daniel Machín Vazquez-Illá wrote: > Hello Derek, > > I get the same log in "Debug info" logging level. > > However, I have found that the error only happens when the phone is connected to a computer in massive storage mode (as far as I know, the media card is read only in this mode) > > I'm using BB Bold 9000. > > > ----If you turn the logging level up to "Debug info" (on the options screen > of the event logger), you'll get more log messages will be useful. > Immediately before this error, there should be one that starts with the > text "MaildirFolder.open()". Hello Derek, I get the same log in "Debug info" logging level. However, I have found that the error only happens when the phone is connected to a computer in massive storage mode (as far as I know, the media card is read only in this mode) I'm using BB Bold 9000. ----If you turn the logging level up to "Debug info" (on the options screen of the event logger), you'll get more log messages will be useful. Immediately before this error, there should be one that starts with the text "MaildirFolder.open()". It should also contain whatever URL is causing this error. I'm curious to see what it is. The problem LogicMail is having has something to do with accessing the local file path where I store the local message folders. So something changed there in the past week. (perhaps you removed the SD card, or changed file permissions on it?) Its important for me to know what broke this, so I can make LogicMail less sensitive to that in the future. -Derek |

Its important for me to know what broke this, so I can make LogicMail less sensitive to that in the future. -Derek On 11/15/2010 8:19 AM, Daniel Machín Vazquez-Illá wrote: > Hello, > I've been using Logicmail for a week and, since this morning, the app > hangs in splash screen. > It throws the following exception: > #BlackBerry Event Log (cpt) > #HwID: 0x84000e07 > #DPIN: 0x2286f473 > #PVer: 5.2.0.33 > #AVer: 5.0.0.411 > a Java Exception - IllegalArgumentException - 15/11 14:15:09 > | no ':' in URL > | net_rim_cldc-21(4B16F6D3) > | RIMConnector > | <private> > | 0x8C88 > | net_rim_cldc-21(4B16F6D3) > | RIMConnector > | open > | 0x8ACE > | net_rim_cldc-2(4B16F6D3) > | Connector > | open > | 0x10B6 > | LogicMail-2(4CD1EA25) > | LocalMailStore > | getMaildirFolder > | 0x7754 > | LogicMail-2(4CD1EA25) > | LocalMailStore$MaildirRunnable > | <init> > | 0x79A2 > | LogicMail-2(4CD1EA25) > | LocalMailStore$RequestFolderMessagesRecentRunnable > | <init> > | 0x7B43 > | LogicMail-2(4CD1EA25) > | LocalMailStore > | requestFolderMessagesRecent > | 0x747B > | LogicMail-2(4CD1EA25) > | AbstractMailStore > | requestFolderMessagesRecent > | 0x15C > | LogicMail-3(4CD1EA25) > | LocalMailStoreServices > | requestFolderRefresh > | 0x6891 > | LogicMail-3(4CD1EA25) > | MailboxNode > | refreshMessages > | 0x8A43 > | LogicMail-3(4CD1EA25) > | MailManager > | <init> > | 0x7A0D > | LogicMail-3(4CD1EA25) > | MailManager > | getInstance > | 0x7A41 > | LogicMail-3(4CD1EA25) > | MailManager > | initialize > | 0x7A21 > | LogicMail-1(4CD1EA25) > | LogicMail$1 > | run > | 0x46F > W LogicMail - Application startup > Date: Lun nov 15 14:15:08 Europe/Brussels 2010 > Name: LogicMail > Version: 1.9.1.226 > Platform: 5.0.0.411 > - 15/11 14:15:08 > Regards, > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Centralized Desktop Delivery: Dell and VMware Reference Architecture > Simplifying enterprise desktop deployment and management using > Dell EqualLogic storage and VMware View: A highly scalable, end-to-end > client virtualization framework. Hello, I've been using Logicmail for a week and, since this morning, the app hangs in splash screen. See blog post for details: http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail/blog/min-os-now-4-5 This affects build 1.9.1.221 and forward. FYI, build 221 (and likely a couple following it) will mainly contain changes to support upgrading the base OS version. (renaming of old references, fixing usage of deprecated APIs, etc.) The next task on my plate afterwards is fixing the HTML message display problem on OS 6.0 (as discussed in a recent e-mail). -- ---------------------------- Derek Konigsberg dko...@lo... ---------------------------- |
