Hello, I've been installing Debian linux using as my sources Potato and Testing. I've installed XFree86 v4.1 and am unable to launch a working X diplay. I have tried both the config files available from the linux-apus site on sourceforge but both give the same problem, namely a black screen that I am unable to kill the session for. Control alt delete has no effect, and there don't appear to be any error messages. Any suggestions gratefully received. Oh, and I am using the PPC distribution with a BVision graphics card. -- Regards, Stephen Webber st...@co... ste...@or... ste...@bl... "The older I grow, the less important the comma becomes. Oh, i really tried :) but couldn't find out how to do just that... On i386 there's an fdisk option -b 1024 which would help me i guess, but neither cfdisk nor the apus version of fdisk have such a thing. Anyway the disk works, i just have to set the geometry by hand... Thanks and bye, Pieter... |

Well, i got it to work by formatting it with the wrong geometry, compensating for the 1024 byte disk blocks. It still fails on inquiry's. I saw there's some stuff in the kernel about blacklisting drives that don't like being scanned in a specific manner. But i dont need that, the only inquiry that is fine is at boot time. Anyway, I don't see how looping it could help, but i'm probably wrong. Does that allow me to set different specs like blocksize? Thanks for your reply, Pieter. |

Yep, the idea behind new revisions of stable releases is to fix grave bugs and security holes. New versions, which might introduce new problems, are avoided as well as possible. > All those things will appear in Debian 3.0 (Woody) which atm is in > "testing" phase.
