Hello, Everyone :) I have this problem with Krename 2.7.3. When I choose to "Add KRename to konquerors context menu", it does exactly that, except for the following problem: if I right click on a "file" (as opposed to a directory), I get the context menu with no error message. But if I should happen to right click on a "directory", then I get the following error: The desktop entry file /home/steve/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/krename_dir.desktop has an invalid menu entry Rename After I click the "ok" button that appears on the error message, then I get the context menu like I'm supposed to. I have never seen this error before with Krename, or with any application, actually. I am running the RPM of Krename 2.7.3 that I made for Red Hat 9. Just in case, here is a copy of the file referred to in the above quoted error message: [Desktop Entry] Actions=Rename Encoding=UTF-8 ServiceTypes=inode/directory [Desktop Action Rename] Exec=krename -r %U Name[de]=Mit &Krename umbenennen Icon=krename There is another file in that directory: krenameservicemenu.desktop here is that file: [Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 ServiceTypes=all/allfiles # Don't show twice on the left side #,inode/directory Actions=Rename [Desktop Action Rename] Name=Rename with &krename Name[de]=Mit &Krename umbenennen Exec=krename %F Icon=krename Right down to the above quoted files themselves, I have full ownership of every directory and file. I have execute permissions on all the directories, and read/write permissions on these two files: /home/steve/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/krename_dir.desktop and /home/steve/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/krenameservicemenu.desktop Well, now I have to go get ready for work. Hello, I released KRename 2.7.3 today. I has a lot of improvement and a new French translation. I fixed many bugs (even the long standing crash with KRegexpressions editor is fixed now). Support for formatting numbers from plugins was added, too: [##Tracknumber]. After I read your request for help, I tried, and succeeded at accomplishing exactly what you asked. So here are the instructions: 1. Run "rpm -e" on kdemultimedia, kdeaddons, and kdeaddons-devel (If you don't remove the kdeaddons packages, rpm will complain about dependencies when you try to uninstall kdemultimedia.) I must add a warning here: if kdeaddons is real important to you, you might want to research this a little further, as I haven't been able to reinstall any version of kdeaddons yet. If I succeed at reinstalling it, I will let you know.) 2. Download kdemultimedia from the following location (or a mirror of your choice.) - ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/3.1.1/src 3. Then do the following as a regular user: bunzip2 kdemultimedia-3.1.1.tar.bz2 tar xvf kdemultimedia-3.1.1.tar cd kdemultimedia-3.1.1 ./configure --prefix=/usr make 4. su into root and do the following: make install That's it :) I not only immediately got the mp3 plugin working in Krename, but I got the audio cd browser working as well (looks cool, but I do all my CD related work from the command line) I hope this helps :) If I messed up on the directions, and I can be of any assistance to you, feel free to contact me and I'll be glad to try to help you. Just a warning: I'm good at what I know, and I've learned a lot in my years of using Red Hat (since 7 came out), but by no stretch of the imagination am I a Guru :) Have a Great Day :) Steven P. The MP3/Ogg plugin is not avaible for RedHat, because red hat removed mp3 support completly from its distribution. If you need this plugin you will have to compile kdemultimedia from source (or look for a pre compiled package with mp3 support for RedHat 9). How do I add various plugin support to Krename? Looking at the screenshot= s, it looks like postscript and MP3/OGG support is available. Any pointer= s where I can get the plugins - especially the MP3/OGG plugin. If it matters, Krename 2.7.2 on RedHat 9. Thanks, Kevin |
