Dear Sir/Madam,

World Wide Web (W3C-www.w3.org) India Office operating under the aegis of
Technology Development for Indian languages (TDIL) Programme of DeitY.

CSS can be applied to our web pages in many ways; however the most powerful
way to employ CSS rules is from an external cascading style sheet. When
used in this manner, the full power of CSS can be used to control the
design and appearance of our work from a single controlling location, which
makes it easy to update our site on a global basis.

W3C India (WWW.w3cindia.in) is currently working on the CSS technology
w.r.t Indic script and discovers various CSS styling issues initially in
Hindi language such as issues in formatting, line breaking and text
segmentation etc. Each cultural community has its own language, script and
writing system. In that sense, the transfer of each writing system into
cyberspace is a task with very high importance for information and
communication technology.

For this purpose W3C India prepared a Test report format for collecting the
requirements of CSS in all 22 Indian languages. I request you to kindly
test the CSS properties in different browsers and send it in the same
format.

Today at the Microsoft //build conference in San Francisco, Dan McLachlan
of our Graphics team will talk about Windows 8.1 approach to color fonts.
We'd like to thank P22, Monotype, The Font Bureau and FontFont for
providing us with font data that we were able to use to test this approach.

Our implementation uses a base glyph for reference, which would be used for
non-color situations. A data structure, implemented as a new 'COLR' table
in OpenType, breaks down the base glyph into a separate set of glyphs, each
with its own z-order and single color reference. The color references are
handled has palette indices, with a separate table, 'CPAL' in OpenType that
resolves the RGBA colors actually used for the glyph.

We plan to submit documentation on this approach for standardization
through the ISO MPEG process (for inclusion in the Open Font Format) within
the next few weeks. However, if you'd like to see the approach in practice
you can download the Windows 8.1 Preview and see a color font (Segoe UI
Emoji) used on the touch enabled keyboard.

Very sad news, indeed. I still remember participating to FOSS.in 2007
and having great exchanges and discussions with Atul before and after
planning the talk I gave there about l10n in Debian.

Since then, I was following his blog posts and FB news and was aware
about his health, sadly.

Context as an concept is a very controversial subject in various discipline. Here we have tried to understand the concept of context in the field of technical translation and in particular related to the FOSS area. It is same as Desktop version. Just exported to woff and eot.

Apart from font format change, is there change in quality, or number
of glyphs (if glyphs have been reduced for web version)? Or its
identical to desktop version, but just exported to woff/eot.
