How about deleting a membership type if no one has requested to join or been confirmed paid for join that type? Otherwise we have a data inconsistency where people are members of types that do not exist. Does this fit with what you need, or do you need an active or hidden flag thing? Let me know what you want and i will put it in to the ToDo list... Thanks for the feedback it helps to have a fresh real world perspective, Doug Patrick Ruf wrote: > Deleting a membership type would be nice but not most important. > > Thanks that is want I wanted. Hi Adrian, It would be great to have another Java developer on the team. Register with SourceForge and send me your user ID. I will add you as a commiter. There is loads of info on the Project site http://imca.sourceforge.net/ at the moment people are testing the working version but the bugs are a bit to obvious at the moment. The live site is: http://www.moth-sailing.org/imca/faces/login.jsp See if you get get it running locally and ask me for help if you need it. I am using the project to learn new Java tricks so it may not all be as easy as I hope it is. See: http://imca.sourceforge.net/how2hack.html for the basics. Email or skype me questions: snap-dc = work sykpe dougculnane = private skype I am online for to much of the time. If you are still interested join the mailing list: imc...@li... and use it for gourp messages. Let us know how you can and if you want to help and I will be grateful for any time you can contribute. Thanks, Doug Adrian Murphy wrote: > Hi Doug, > > I'm interested in helping out with the new moth online database. I give up. Did not find anything that actually makes life easier. So I will do it with use cases and custom built tiles. This is a bit tedious but so is trailing the web and evaluation frameworks etc... Maybe we should have a look at creating custom components. This will be a lot of work but we can maybe have a feature rich component for: boat, person and event. They can have lots of IMCA login built in. Therefore this maybe a good solution to think about long term. If you have any better ideas let me know. Thanks Rohan, You Aussies are do things the wrong way round. State associations and year end in june. Therefore I will program the software as it is so a association has a country and area, and individual year end. This is complex but it is much easier to do it at this stage than later. I can also see the US doing the same kind of state thing if the boats take of there, so that is another reason to do it. All the best, Doug > Yep, IMCA Australia has multiple State Associations. Scott, OK we have pages (tiles) for the use cases, but I do not want to have to make and maintain a separate page for the admin of each enitity type. I have a JPA entity model that describes the data structure and so I want to have a servlet or JSF component that will generate pages for editing data in the database. This should be dynamic so that changes to the JPA entities abd relationships are then seen in the web application. I have heard that we can either use AndroMDA (http://www.andromda.org/docs-3.3-m2/index.html) to generate pages from UML but this raise the technology level a lot, and means that others will not be able to hack on the project so easily (maybe including me). I have also heard that IDEs can generate JSF pages for your entities but can not find this in the latest Eclipse. Do you now of anything that will help with this? Thanks, Doug |

Mike, Mike are you up for the Moth website graphic thing? I have added you to the team (http://imca.sourceforge.net/team-list.html) and I am hacking away on the basic use cases. It would be cool to know if I have a nice looking website being progressed in the background. That would be one less thing to think about. If you want to chat my skype id is dougculnane. All the best, Doug PS: I cc in the rest of the team just in case they have not subscribed to the mailing list. Doug Culnane wrote: > Hi Mike, > > Thanks for the offer of help. Guys, Do you know if the AUS districts run their own membership lists and books? I am starting to programing the join the IMCA thing and I need to know if a country can have many associations or is it one country one accosiation? I think Aus is the only case where this maybe true. I can do this easily now but it is hard to change later so do we want it simple or complex? Thanks, Doug |

Hi Mike, Thanks for the offer of help. It would be great to have help. So far we have me and Scott doing java hacking and kati is going to make the interface multi language. There is definitely room on the team for a graphic artist. I have to do a lot of work on this to get the basics use cases working, but you can start playing with the graphics. If you want to get really geeky try to follow: http://imca.sourceforge.net/how2hack.html Register with Sourceforge and I will add you as a commiter. Getting this all working without Java experience may be too hard. Therefore you can also send be made up screenshots and I will do the HTML and build the pages. I can do the geeky bits but it would be great to get help with the photoshop work, as that is not my main skills area. Mailing list for developers is at: http://imca.sourceforge.net/mail-lists.html Please ALL subscribe. So busy at the moment I have no time for Moth building but i hope things will calm down soon, and I can think about getting the Flashheart to the next worlds- All the best, Doug Mike Cooke wrote: > Hi Doug, > > I am by no means a programmer and only have limited HTML knowledge, > but I was formerly a graphic designer before boatbuilding so if you > need any help with logos/graphics etc etc on the new website please > let me know. > > It was good to meet you at the worlds, hope the new boat comes > together before the next one! > > Cheers > > > > > > Mike Cooke > mi...@aa... <mailto:mi...@aa...> > Aardvark Technologies > Unit 29 Knightcott Industrial Estate > Banwell > North Somerset > BS29 6JN > > |
