How about deleting a membership type if no one has requested to join or
been confirmed paid for join that type? Otherwise we have a data
inconsistency where people are members of types that do not exist.  Does
this fit with what you need, or do you need an active or hidden flag
thing?  Let me know what you want and i will put it in to the ToDo list...
