#1288 Last Version 4.0.9 is DELETING contacts with no reason
I hope I'm the only one facing this problem, because it's very terrible.
After I have installed the new version 4.0.9 GCSM has started DELETING some contacts without any reason.
I have immediately seen the problem because some of the contacts are frequently used contacts (one of them is my wife).
From the attached picture you can see that apparently GCSM has decided to delete the contacts because Google has deleted them, but I have done some tests and Google is not the origin of the deletion.
My temporary solution is uninstall last version, and install the precedent one.
After I have installed the new version 4.0.9 GCSM has started DELETING some contacts without any reason and i must cancel the synchronization.
I have the same problem and for this reason i can't synchronize my contacts.
Please correct this problem asap !!!

I am seeing this as well with 4.0.9 and Outlook 2010. As I have it set to confirm it seems to randomly select some to tell me are deleted on the google or outlook side (neither is true). Returned to v4.07 which doesn't seem to have this issue.

The question is more complex than first impression.
I'm testing the version 4.0.6 to check if the problem is only on version 4.0.9 and for some days the problem was solved so I was thinking the cause was version 4.0.9
But this morning GCSM is not recognizing some contacts and it wants to delete them (see attached picture).
Luckily I have activated the safety flag “Prompt Deletion” so I’m detecting the problem and I’m stopping the deletion.
Of course I have verified that on google side the contacts are there, so I have to think that the problem is that GCSM is wrong.
But on the other side I see that sometime google updates the contacts and maybe this is the reason of the conflict.
Another possible cause can be a windows update on hold, because this is the only uncommon thing on my computer this morning.

I'm having the same problem too. I'm using 4.0.7 and I just noticed about 30 of my contacts have been deleted too after installing that verson. I don't have a log text of it because I just caught the error yesterday and it might have happened a week ago.
I synchronized my contacts two times in the morning and it work perfect.

Don't think that the problem is fixed just because the sync works 2 or 3 times.
In my case the problem reappared after 4 days and I sincronize the data aprox 10 times per day. This means that 40 times GCSM has done the job properly before the problem reappare.
Unfortunately after two perfect sync i have the same problem again !!!
Hi, I detected the same also when migrating from old Google Contacts to new Google People API. I was using "Merge Outlook Wins" without "Prompt Deletion" and detected after a while, that contacts have been deleted on Outlook AND Google side. The good news is: Outlook as well as Google don't forget, you can easily filter in the recycle bin (e.g. goto folders view in Outlook and search for the "Deleted Items" folder, there you can filter for the contact icon and find all contacts deleted. And you can also check the GCSM logfile for the Deleted message. Nevertheless, this bug was already present in previous version (before People API migration, I recognized it from time to time). Therefore I have switched on "Prompt Deletion" for now, to avoid incidentally unintentionally contacts. I would advice you to do so as well, until the bug is fixed
I have the same problem: it proposes to delete a lot of contacts on two outlooks, and I saw that on the google side that some are in double.
So I uninstalled and I wait for a new update.
To add to the list. I was having this same issue and went back to 4.0.6 (still had some) then back to 4.0.4 and all was well for several days, but this morning (I have confirm delete on) I caught two. Outlook 2010 with a few over 1850 contacts.
I have the same problem. Fortunately, I've safe settings: only google to Outlook modification (in my case, Google Contacts are the reference) and prompt for deletion is enabled. I think it's not a problem only of GCSM but a combination between it and the new Google API interface. Furthermore, if I sync again a minute after I've had the problem, often I don't have the problem. So, it's not deterministic. Here is my last log , where I had 6 outloook contacts not found in google (it's not true, I have them) and 6 google contacts that are not found in outlook (it's not true again).

I've just installed 4.1.10, which may not solve the problem yet (ticket still shows open), but I'm going to resuscitate my wife's contact info, and hope for the best.
No offense, and it's not that I actually expected the problem to have been solved when it was specifically not flagged as solved, but a contact sync program that deletes contacts, INCLUDING MY WIFE, is arguably utter garbage, and I've moved on.

Getting the same issue where it is trying to delete contacts. Luckily i have the settings set where it prompts me for deletions. I am using 4.1.10
SAme issue here. Over and over again. After several error-free syncs. the program keeps creating duplicates and randomly reporting deletions that are not true. Looks like rolling back is not a solution. Help!
Adding to my first comment. I have 3 PC that I sync against my google contacts and this seems to happen when I sync one of the other two accounts (desktop I sync often and laptops only when I will be traveling). Is this happening to any of you above that only sync to one PC?
Please try again with new version 4.1.11, I found some places in the code, which could be responsible for this behavior. I consider it as a bug of the new Google People API, but I found a way to workaround it (I hope). Will monitor alson my hand. Until further notice, I would advice to keep the "Prompt delete" option switched on. You should also check your recycle bin for deleted contacts (on Google side as well as on Outlook side) to recover your incidentally deleted contacts!!!
I confirm that the new version 4.1.11 appear OK.
But to be 100% sure it's better to wait some more days, because older version was not generating the error continuously the problem was random. in my case the problem was appearing one day and then for 2 weeks zero problems.
(so I keep prompt deletion active to avoid risks)
I'm confident that you have fixed the error, because this morning the old GCSM version was trying to delete 5 contact, so I have installed the new 4.1.11 and immediately the problem disappeared.

Old problem has not appeared in the last days, so I feel you have fixed it; but today I have seen a new strange error.
GCSM says OUTLOOK CONTACT DELETED, but the contact is not deleted at all (See attached picture).
I simply click CANCEL at deletion prompt and restart SYNC and GCSM doesn't say again contact deleted.

Same exact problem here. If you select delete google it in fact does delete google and and if you select keep google it make a duplicate in outlook
Over the past 5 days I've run at least 15 sync between Google and 3 PCs. So far so good with 4.1.11
