Syncing problems after migration from Win 10 to Win 11 (new PC)
Sorry, typo: We recently updated from 44.1.33 to V4.2.1 should be V4.2.1...
Sync Notification: Appointments Have Changed
yes, that is true. But this timeline was already adjusted several times. In 2023 it was said 2+ years, now it is 2025 and still not disappeared, actually the classic Outlook is still standard in many companies, as the one I am working in. So maybe they will even prolong it after 2029. But we try to work on a new fork for this GCSM new to support Outlook web services as well, but I think we need some volunteers to do so, because I am currently quite busy with other (business and private) tasks
Indeed but the writing is on the wall. Classic Outlook will be EOL in 2029. Sure, quite a few years. It's why I wrote "One Outlook will be a total breaking change for GCSM"
GCSM is currently NOT working with New Outlook. The Microsoft announcement only affects the old (free) Mail & Calendar apps, which are pre-installed on Windows 11. see the content of the links provided below: These changes will not affect your organization’s use of classic Outlook for Windows. In parallel, we have a feature request to also support the Web version (new Outlook), but the (sparetime) developers need time for it and maybe some more donations to afford this fundamental change, maybe it...

GCSM works with PST (e.g. if using POP), but also with OST (e.g. if using Exchange or IMAP)
Hi Rob, as mentioned above, this is NOT true. Traditional Outlook is still working. If you switched to new Outlook (e.g. to try it out), you can easily switch back, just click the button on the upper right of the new Outlook
Hi! Try clearing the app cache and reauthorizing your Google account. Make sure you’re on the latest version and have a good internet connection. If it still doesn’t work, please share any error messages. bitlife
I can confirm that this is happening on my wife's computer with 4.2.1 but not on mine with 4.1.33. I'm going to try to downgrade hers to 4.1.33 to see what happens.
Sorry, it didn't work well with what I've posted for you... The examples shown for "after sync in Google" are here correctly reported, instead of what I wrote in my message with HTML codes as they appear in Google! You'll find attached image of reality!
Bug Report – “Suffix” Field & “Notes” Encoding Issues in GO Contact Sync Mod
GCSM and New Outlook
Hmm, but it runs fine on my Win10 and now Win11. Why shouldn't it run properly with this setting? And what is your advice, how to replace this setting?
Problem seens to be that definition in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run defines GCSM for Windows server and not for Windows 10 or 11. This entry is greyed out and cannot be changed. I seems the task was created on an older Windows version and isn't fully compatible with Windows 11.
I see now that both OUTLOOK and GoContactSynd are started by same user, but Outlook is started normally and Gocontactsync is elevated (started as administrator). I do not see how GCDM is started (it is NOT in startup programs and not in task scheduler). How can I change the automatic startup of GCSM so it will start as normal user?
Further information. I reboot my P daily. The last few days I see I do not get this error message a few minutes after booting, but many hours later. It looks at GCSM works fine for first (and maybe second) sync. But then the error appears agin
Error: GCSM and Outlook started bij different user
I just installed 2.4.1 and, after a bit of confusion, caused because I didn't understand the settings, it appears to be working well. In the settings, there is a check box to start it on Windows startup, and choices for how frequently to run it.
I checked task scheduler and gocontactsync is NOT there. Why/how does it start automatically?
I also added outlook.exe to startup folder. After rebooting outlook now starts up automatically but I still get same error msg from jo contactsync. I checked task manager again and again both processes have SAME user id
I get same problem. When using Task Manager - Details I see that both Gocontactsync. exe and outlokk.exe are running with the same user. So the mesaage generated by Gocontactsync that the apps were started by different users is NOT correct. When I exit Gocontactsync and restart it again the problem does NOT appear. So, it seems to be linked to Gocontactsync starting before Outlook has started
What is the status of this bug report?
Roll back to version 4.1.33 and it should sync properly without the errors one gets n 4.2.1.
I'm having the same issue too. I tried deleting the birthday appointment on both Gmail and Outlook, but syncing again gives the below prompt every time: "Both the Outlook and Google Appointment "XYZ's Birthday - 2000-12-31 Recurrence" have been changed. Choose which you would like to keep" "Keep Outlook Entry" or "Keep Google Entry" or "Skip" or "Cancel" (I have both "Sync Deletion" and "Prompt Deletion" checked) So there's no way to actually remove these birthday reminders with v4.2.1. Thanks, ...

Probably the same or similar issue as reported here: https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/bugs/1410/ https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/bugs/1408/
Sounds like the same or similar issue mentioned here: https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/bugs/1408/ And earlier in the Support subforum: https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/support-requests/1026/
UPDATE - While I still do not understand the issues shown in the log file, I do have more information. I noticed that I have set the SYNC WINDOW for months PAST to 1 month. If I change that to 4 months so that the 1/2/25 and 1/15/25 are covered, then I get the same issues for those 4 appointments that I get with 4.2.0 & 4.2.1. So it looks like the Months PAST setting with 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 are going back beyond the one month set for some reason. In all 4 cases these are recurring appointments where...

How do I know if I have the most updated version of Go Contact Sync Mod
I should add that after going back to 4.1.33 and it working without the issue, then installing 4.2.1 again, same issues. Going back to 4.1.33 good again... I then loaded 4.2.0 and the issues happens there too... Back to 4.1.33 all good again. In both 4.2.0 & 4.2.1 the sync would start with every appt showing as Outlook updated Google
Appointment issues sync with 4.2.1 that do not happen with 4.1.33
Just to provide an update, I downgraded to 4.1.33 as recommended by another user and the initial sync did run shockingly fast compared to 4.2.1. However, I started a second manual sync just to ensure everything was working properly and it started syncing very slowly again. Please see attached for a photo. I have no idea how to fix this, so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Updating all contacts from Google to Outlook every sync
Can confirm. Both 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 have the issue in my setup. Downgrading to 4.1.33 and the sync runs correctly, without this issue.
I have similar issue with latest version 4.2.1 and 4.2.0 - I've downgraded to 4.1.33 and syncing is quick again. Hopefully this can get resolved in future releases. If it helps, I am using Microsoft® Outlook® LTSC MSO (Version 2502 Build 16.0.18526.20286) 64-bit

FIX: added default folders https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/bugs/1363/
The fix actually turned out to be very simple. Office 2024 has two versions of Outlook. The first is the 'new' look and feel which doesn't have all the features and this is used by default. If you look in your start menu, you'll see there is also the option for Outlook (classic). This one works perfectly with GCSM and has all the features that you expect from Outlook.
I deleted it. And it works on my side, unfortunately no indication in the log, what happens. Maybe too less memory? I have no clue, what this can cause. Maybe you have to review your contacts and fix suspective entries

closed, because after deleting the empty contact it was working, as user reported

GCSM also should work with every Outlook supporting Interop/Com. It cannot work with the Web Version (Outlook new). Currently it works fine with my Outlook 365 installation, whcih is using always the latest version of Outlook, but you must use the traditional way with profiles and Interop possibility
GO Contact Sync Mod can't find Outlook contacts and calendar folders, even default ones
patch cannot be used, because otherwise it will scan through all folders, even multiple recursive folders within mails, and this will cause big performance lag in case of big folder structures. But I used the second proposal to add default folders on demand. If there are any contacts or appointments below a calendar folder, please move them up to a root folder with type Appointments/Calendar or Contacts, so that it can be properly scanned thrugh. The version covering this will be 4.2.1
Hi Florian, There does not appear to be any options to delete the attachment? Are your able to delete? I have tried v4.2, same problem. It does work with the 32bit version. I use outlook 2007 as it has a very clean interface and I have used it with go contact for many years.

Did you try with newest version 4.2? And did you try to remove one of your Outlook accounts/profiles (you are having 2 accounts, maybe this is the problem?) And Office2007 is already very old and as far as I know NOT supported by Microsoft anymore. Can you try to update to newer (supported) Office version?
Just noticed that your log contains private data - you may wan't to remove that attachment, replacing it with a revised version? (I am not affiliated with this project or site - just passing by as a user of this tool).

It would be great if Google Sync Mod could incorporate features to make syncing across multiple platforms even smoother. In the meantime, if you're looking for a fun distraction, I recommend checking out online games that also involve a bit of strategy and luck. For instance, the Thimbles game at 1xbet has gained significant popularity in India, offering both excitement and a chance to win. You can read more about it here: Thimbles 1xBet Overview and Popularity in India. While this doesn’t directly...
An update. I noticed a blank contact at the start of my Outlook address book - hadnt been there before. I deleted it, ran the sync and all went well. Please keep this ticket open for a few days and I will update if it fails again. Thanks

Update, On the same computer my wife's syncing works without problem. The main difference between us is that she has just 1 mail account whereas I have several. I did a big of digging into the code and the re-connect to outlook works fine but when trying to access the target synchronization folder is when the error happens.
Here is the log file error

I'm having the same problem too, only on Windows 11 and MS Outlook 2019 computers. I tried the below method and did not work on any clean installs of MS 2017 with Windows 11 for the past 2 years. My question is identical to yours. As soon as the "new" Outlook appeared, I gave it a go. I thought it wouldn't be compatible with Go Contact, so I quickly reverted to using Outlook 365, even though it looked fascinating. basketball stars

It sounds annoying! Even though Office 2024 isn't officially supported yet, you might attempt utilizing Windows' Mail settings or the Control Panel to manually create a mail profile. If it doesn't work, watch for compatibility news updates from GCSM. I wish you luck! slope game
I think your default browser must be Chrome. I installed the latest software today for the first time and had this problem. I have Win11 Pro, Microsoft Defender, Firefox. I turned off the firewall, but I still had the same error. I uninstalled GO Contact Sync, then I set my default browser to Chrome from Firefox. I reinstalled GO C S and was able to connect and sync. I reset my default browser to Firefox and GO C S sync'd.
