#1410 Appointment issues sync with 4.2.1 that do not happen with 4.1.33

pending
Sync issue (7)
2026-02-22
2025-04-23
No

Two different issues in the attached file. 4.2.1 has some sync issues that moving back to 4.1.33 resolves.
[Note: I never loaded 4.2.0 ]
In four(4) cases across two different days a 30 min repeating appt time adds hours to 0600 from different start times and will not sync saying both Outlook and Google have changed - however deleting from both Outlook 2021 and Google - it comes back. I tried reset matches - no help.
The other issue doesn't report to the sync details & log window, but has several notes and is included at the bottom of the attached file as it may have some useful debug info.

I should add that after going back to 4.1.33 and it working without the issue, then installing 4.2.1 again, same issues. Going back to 4.1.33 good again...
I then loaded 4.2.0 and the issues happens there too... Back to 4.1.33 all good again.
In both 4.2.0 & 4.2.1 the sync would start with every appt showing as Outlook updated Google

UPDATE - While I still do not understand the issues shown in the log file, I do have more information. I noticed that I have set the SYNC WINDOW for months PAST to 1 month. If I change that to 4 months so that the 1/2/25 and 1/15/25 are covered, then I get the same issues for those 4 appointments that I get with 4.2.0 & 4.2.1.
So it looks like the Months PAST setting with 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 are going back beyond the one month set for some reason. In all 4 cases these are recurring appointments where one occurrence was changed. And maybe this is why they come back after been deleted from Outlook and Google and why the check is going back more than a month... the later versions follow the entire recurring event time window.

That is what I ended up doing. Also, 4.1.33 does not list every contact whether it is or is not updated which takes a long time to list all 350+ contacts.

Hopefully they will fix so we can move back to the current version. Until then, I suppose we are stuck on this older version.

I think I found the reason after several internet searches and trying out: Obviously, the hash algorithm we are using to collapse the Google Account name into an Outlook Property name changed between the .NET Framework 4.7.2 (used in 4.1.x versions and earlier) and 4.8.1 (used in the newer versions). Unfortunately we needed to upgrade to 4.8.1 to be on the Microsoft supported Framework, but there seems to be no backward compliance with the hash algorithm.
Please test the version I released here and let me know, if it works https://sourceforge.net/projects/googlesyncmod/files/Releases/4.1.34%20-%20Branch%20for%20.NET4.7.2%20fixes/

Anyway, I would advice you to upgrade to latest .NET Framework to not oppose your system any security threads. To do so, you should install the latest version (4.2.x), then Reset matches first, before resync (maybe, if possible, delete all entries first on one side, Outlook or Google, and then reset, and then start the sync again to copy over a synched version to the other side again)

UPDATE #2 Loading v4.2.1 again and setting the months back to 1 month, the error still occurs as first reported with the times extending to 0600 , plus every one of the appointments now (slowly) scrolls on every sync with date & time then Information Updated appointment from Outlook to Google.
This is the same type response when the matches are not in sync - like when I Sync my notebook instead of my desktop. The first sync is always slow, then slow again when I return from traveling and move back to the desktop.
As I already tried resetting matches - I did not try this again.
Back on 4.1.33 (set to only 1 month back - the 4 error appoints are 4 months back) all run very quick and no more of the ==> date & time then Information Updated appointment from Outlook to Google for every appointment.

OOPS - open and saved this by mistake - nothing new added.

Florian Saller - Using v4.3.0 with the v4.7.2 NET seems to work as closer to 4.1.33 results.
The first run I did get a few contacts (like 50 out of 1700) saying they updated from Google and as well all Holidays appts and a few birthdays were updated from Google.
The second run following the first - only 8 contacts updated from Google and still same amount of appts - most being birthdays and all or most all holidays [ones with fixed day of the month]
(note: I sync 1 month back and 40 months ahead). And Google is my hub to sync 2 laptops and 1 desktop all running Win11 with classic Outlook 2021.
The birthdays are ones based on yearly appt and spanning many years - like ones that were entered back in 2009 thru 2025 with no end date seeming to be the main trigger. Which would be same for holidays.
I think you finding the NET4.7.2 vs NET 8.8.1 is a KEY for many issues, except for these repeating dates.

Florian Saller - Then tested by backing up my local Outlook contacts and calendar and deleting both from Outlook and Google. Loaded the latest v4.3.0 with 8.8.1 and reset matches - sync'd outlook cal/contacts restored to Google. All went well and Google showed contacts and calendar,. Then ran the sync again and had an information on every contact - updated contact from Google to outlook and took a long time - like the first sync. The same happened with appointments.

Florian Saller - this morning moved back to the 4.1.34 with NET 4.7.2 and all still get every contact info updated from Google (instead of none as no changes) - this is ONLY On the first run, then 2nd run 5 contact (of 1800) were updated, but all appts that are recurring (like birthdays & holidays) are updated (updated appt from Google to outlook) as reported in the first try above.

Florian Saller - Moved back to v4.1.33 and all is back to normal with contacts and appts. No more have all updated from Google to Outlook.
So there is still something other than NET8.8.1 in play for Apps Releases above 4.1.33 especially in the appts that are repeating like holidays and birthdays. If the Google update to Outlook for recurring appointments in 4.1.34 with NET 4.7.2 could be resolved, then I would think that branch would work,
Thanks for all your help on this!

Florian Saller - I just thought to check my .NET Framework and it looks to be 4.5.5 - is that possibly my issue with later Go Sync versions?

8:12:57 C:\Windows\System32> wmic product get name, version | findstr /C:.NET
    Microsoft ASP.NET MVC 4 Runtime 4.0.40804.0
    Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 4.5.51209
    Microsoft .NET Host - 5.0.17 (x86) 40.68.31213
    Microsoft .NET Runtime - 5.0.17 (x86) 40.68.31213
    Microsoft .NET Host FX Resolver - 5.0.17 (x86) 40.68.31213

But with .NET runtime of 5.0.17 - maybe OK?
