Actually, that's not a valid complaint about gnuplot 4.0 --- it's a
complaint you should address to whoever built your binary of 4.0.  It
was not built with the same options compiled in as the 3.7 one you used
before.

That's not really "gnuplot mode", that's you interacting with the 
program gnuplot.
