May I translate Gnuplot - programm - to portuguese ?

I would like to translate Gnuplot (the commands and the Help) to 
portuguese. May I do that ? 

If I can, can I have some help to start with (a road map to the programm
so I can see here from to make the firsts changes).
I have download the source, from the CVS repository.
