[Gnuplot-info] Error: terminal "png" does not support continuous colors.

Hi

I'm using GNUPLOT and trying to save plots image as "png" figures.Everytime
error message appears.

"Error: terminal "png" does not support continuous colors."

I did 
"gnuplot>set terminal png"
"gnuplot>set output "*.png""
"gnuplot>set pm3d"
"gnuplot>splot "*.dat""
but error message showed and failed to save image.

Why does this happen? I have no ideas.

Well, because the PNG terminal driver the gnuplot you're using doesn't 
support pm3d plotting.  And since you didn't bother telling us which 
gnuplot (and in particular, which PNG driver) that was, that's about all 
anybody can tell you about it.  Show us the result of command 'show 
version long' in your gnuplot, and a better answer might become possible.

Following message are result of 'show version long'.Can this gnuplot
support pm3d plotting ?

No.  The problem is here:

Whoever build this gnuplot binary didn't have (or allow it to use) the 
GD library, which is needed to get the fully-featured PNG driver.

In short, you got the wrong PNG driver.

I'll try to re-install gnuplot to use GD library.
