Salvete,
I'm running Gnuplot as a web-service, and would like to
castrate its feral shell- and system-facilities; would any-
one mind inspecting the attached patch to command.c for
unintended consequences?
In particular, I kept:
screen_ok = false;
c_token++';
though I'm not sure what they do.

goon wrote: > hai...I have a question about axis while ploting a graph in gnuplot. Can I > change vertical axis from z axis to y axis. No --- but that's OK, since you don't really have to do that. The terms "y axis" and "z axis" have several implied meanings, but those meanings are actually quite separate from each other. In a simple 3D plot (e.g. of an explicit surface, or a data set equivalent to one), 'z' is often treated as synonymous of 'dependent variable', but that's purely convention. If you don't want that convention, use parametric mode for function plots, or study the 'using' option for data. In other words: the 'z' axis is always vertical in gnuplot --- but you can change which of your variables becomes gnuplot's "z". |

It follows the mathematicla rule of usual 3-d-coordinates: the vector of the z-axis is a result of the vector product of x and y. You may change the way that gnuplot reads your data or your mathematical expressions. If you are plotting 3D-Datapoints, you may use the keyword "using" to tell gnuplot, that you would like to have the y-coordinate in your dataset plotted over the z-axis of gnuplots output. See "help using" for more information. If you are plotting mathematical expressions, the simplest way to get your desired result is to make a coordinate transformation as described by linear algebra. I have a ultraspark ultra5 running solaris OS 5.8. I have tried to install the gnuplot 4.00. I have taken the gnuplot-4.0.0.tar.gz and unziped it into ~/gnuplot/gnuplot-4.0.0. I use command "configure --prefix=$HOME/gnuplot" with the result presented in configure.txt. When i run "make" i get the result of make.txt. This is where the problem occures I think. It gives an error message and it does not work. I have also tried to install it on an other computor in the network (jalta). The result can be seen in jata_make.txt and jalta_configure.txt I have had our computoradministrator look into it but he cant figure it out. I be happy to try to explian in more detail if you specify what you need to know. -- Andreas Svedin Uppsala Observatory Sweden |

Hello Philipp, I had a similar problem and used a slightly different way than Bernard suggested. It is not as elegant but there are advanced possibilities. I wrote a script that first creates a gnuplot-script-file (plotfile.gnu) and then calles gnuplot to open it. The gnuplot-script-file will look exactly like the one you asked for, with one extra line (save "diagramm.gnu") at the end. The script for your problem could look similar to the following one: #!/bin/sh #Step 1: create file echo set title $1 > plotfile.gnu echo plot $1.data using (\$16 * 8):20 with linespoints notitle >>plotfile.gnu echo pause -1 >>plotfile.gnu echo save \"diagramm.gnu\" #Step 2: call gnuplot gnuplot plotfile.gnu When you see the plot, gnuplot is in interactive mode and you can therefore zoom in and out, turn on/off logscale and so on. If you liked the plot, rename the file "diagramm,gnu" and you have it saved with the last settings for zoom and so on. By the way, you can also teach KDE/Gnome/... to open your .data-files by click with a script like this. You need to modify the script that it accepts the complete filename. Then set the file associations of KDE/Gnome/... to open .data-files with this script. Then you just click on your .data file in the file-browser and have it displayed directly. I hope, this can be useful for you, Schöne Grüße, Stephan Am Freitag, den 08.12.2006, 14:45 +0100 schrieb Philipp Fechteler: > Hello > > Is it possible to pass arguments to a Gnuplot script (in Linux on the > command line), e.g. a file name for a data file. Hello, I am using GNUPLOT 4.0 on a Linux 2.6.8.1-24mdk system. I have a problem with the "enhanced" option and the "set term jpeg": I want to create graphs with the jpeg format (or any other image formats) and to include in these graphs Greek letters, subscripts, and so on. With "set term postscript" the "enhanced" option works OK, but with "set term jpeg" I get: "gdImageStringFT: Could not find/open font" and the Greek fonts are not written in the graphs. Apparently it is a problem of path access to the fonts with the GD library linked to GNUPLOT. But how I can specify the right path? If you could help me. Thank you very much in advance.
