Hello all Gnuplot people I have a small problem that I dont know how to solve I use my fortran code to generate a series of plotfiles and load files. A typical loadfile ( n5-6c0901_J030.load ) looks like plot "n5-6c0901.tcs" w l ,"n5-6c0901_J030.parsig" w l set term post land color solid lw 2 set output "n5-6c0901_J030.ps" plot "n5-6c0901.tcs" w l ,"n5-6c0901_J030.parsig" w l set term x11 I run gnuplot version 4.0 patchlevel 0 as gnuplot> load 'n5-6c0901_J030.load' gnuplot> load 'n5-6c0901_J029.load' gnuplot> load 'n5-6c0901_J028.load' etc When I want to use ggv, kghostview or print the *.ps files I get errors. I tseems now that I can only execute one loadfile at a time and then I have to exit. I have tried to add a line : exit at the end of each loadfile bu that does not help. Am I doing something stupid or ? I want to be efficient and only write as little as possible since I routinely need to p=E5rint these files as part of the analysis of our studies. Best regards Nils Elander Prof. of theoretical molecular physics Stockholm University and |

You only get that message if gnuplot sees a specific need to open the plot window. For a very simple example: echo "set term dumb ; plot x" | gnuplot doesn't output any X11-related messages whatsoever. If your plot script behaves differently, you'll have to show it to us for further analysis. |

Of course. Just don't use dgrid3d :-) Do you really need dgrid3d to make your data grid-structured? If your absolutely do need dgrid3d, see 'help table' for a method to run it as a separate process that writes the gridded data to a new file, so you can turn dgrid3d off again and plot the gridded data as mesh, combined with the original data as points. |

Hello I am using currently using some x, y, z data to generate a plot with a grid. I am doing this by setting dgrid3d which forms a grid based on the values of the x, y, z data and everything looks good. However, is it possible to show the x, y, z, plot points on the grid at all? Thanks Martin O'Shea. |

Hello, I have been developing a GTK application and I am now using GnuPlot to create some graphical output. I was hoping to embed the gnuplot x window results into my GTK application. So far I have been unable to do that can anyone give me any tips on how I would go about this? Thankyou Hans, I tried to do it but I couldn't get what I wanted. The plot u 1:2:3 will be covered by the one u 1:2:4. By the way the values of column 3 vary between = - 0.5 to 0.5 but that of column 4 lies b/n -1 and 1(the values actually are very close to zero except for a fepoint where they could be close to -1 or +1). Hi, just a simple help request: I installed/updated my 4.0 gnuplot to 4.2 in a SuSE 10.2 machine. Everythin= g was working fine with 4.0, and the installation 4.2 ran with no errors; but when I use it I don't have anymore the pop-up windows showing the plots. Th= e default terminal is set to "unknown" and it does not recognize the "x11" one: set terminal x11 produces the following error mesage: unknown or ambiguous terminal type Besides, I do not have any trouble using other terminals to print the plots into files, as "postscript" and the like (or at least not with the ones I'v= e tried). What could be the problem with the x11 terminal (being that the one used fo= r the pop-up plot windows)? How can I solve it? Thank for your attention, Iv=E1n. |

Hello I have a set of sample data as follows: CEMI (x) ggbs(y) FLOW MM (z) 0.0 90.0 0 6.5 58.7 166 6.6 59.0 169 7.3 65.0 141 6.1 54.5 162 8.5 76.2 217 7.1 64.2 174 6.0 54.2 209 7.0 63.0 198 7.6 68.3 171 which produces a simple set of points on a 3D graph using splot. However, what I would like is to do is to interpolate between points to calculate the coordinates for a flow contour of, for example, 175 mm? Can anyone advise how I might do this? Thanks Martin O'Shea. |

I can't seem to figuere out how to zoom a 3D graph. The right mouse button doesn't work in the 3D graph. Is it possible to do this? If not then is it possible to switch to a 2D graph with some command so that it is possible to zoom??? Thanx -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/3D-zooming-in-GNUPlot-tf4096611.html#a11648496 Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

HI, I have a problem plotting some 4-column data. The 1st and 2nd column are x- and y-axes. The 3rd column has values which I used the 'set pm3d map' and 'set palette' to have different colors for different values. so basically I can do a surface plot using the three columns, the 3rd column identified by its color and not an axis. Now I want to put the values of the 4th column on top of what I have. The values of the 4th column are mostly very close to zero except for a couple of grid points on the x-y plane. If the 4th column has a value different from zero, it will be, say, eithe -1 or +1. So what I want to do is to put a circle or whatever symbol for points for which the value of the 4th column is different from zero on top of the plot (which is actually an splot) which I obtain from the first three columns. I think there is a way to do it in gnuplot. Can someone help me out with that? Many thanks, Dadi P.S. I'm using version 4.2 of gnuplot. |

You have to figure out what kind of quoting you need to get a literal '$' character into the text generated by the HERE script in csh. Or, if you can't get that to work, see 'help column'. |

Try 1:(\$2 + \$3) instead. That "$" symbol you are using is being interpreted by your shell script. You need to escape that with "\" to make your shell take that as simple text and gnuplot will then recognize it. ->HS > With all the best wishes, > Ed > > > > > > > > > > > > > |

Hi All, I am a new user of Gnuplot and I have a basic question. I want to write a script in csh (c shell) which takes some data from a file named output.dat and sends it to gnuplot for plotting (a 2D plot). The output.dat file has 3 columns -x,y,z. I am interested to plot (y+z) as a function of x. What I did is the following: ________________________________________________________ #!/bin/csh set IN = ./output.dat set OUT = ./output.eps cat <<EOF | gnuplot > $OUT set term postscript eps color set origin 0.0,0.5 set size 0.5,0.5 plot "$IN" u 1:(2+3) title "p" with lines EOF -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The bolded line is the one which make me difficulties. I have tried to replace the syntax from -> 1:(2+3) <- with 1:($2+$3), 1:$(2+3), etc but without any success :(. If you could help me to fix this problem it would be really great. With all the best wishes, Ed -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Calling-gnuplot-from-csh-shell-tf4080697.html#a11598483 Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
