Hello,
I have a problem when I increase font size. I need font size larger, because I
include such kind of plot to Latex article and then the font is not readable,
because is to small. How to resolve this problem, because when I increase font
size the ztics (but often also xtics and ytics) and also xlabel are
overlapping - see on these in attached files and code?
set terminal pdf enhanced
set nokey
set style fill transparent
set surface
set hidden3d
set xyplane at 0
set style line 1 linetype -1 linewidth 2 linecolor rgb 'black'
set style line 2 linetype 0 linewidth 1 pointtype 0
set grid xtics ytics ztics back linestyle 2
set border 895 back linetype -1 linewidth 1
set autoscale fix
set tics border out font ",14"
set xlabel "x" font ",18"
set ylabel "y" font ",18"
set title "test"
set output "figure.pdf"
set xrange [0:9]
set yrange [0:7]
splot "data.dat" \
binary \
format="%int16%int16%float64" \
record=10x11 \
index 0 \
using 1:2:3 \
with lines \
linestyle 1
How to write proper code to avoid overlapping, when increase font size?
Thank you in advance.

Hi guys. i would like to have something like this in my plot title (or in my cblabel definition): set title "A nice plot title. positive values <-[typed in red color] mean this, negative values <-[typed in blue color] mean that." blue and read are margins of color palette of a pm3d surface plot. is it possible somehow ? Misha. |

Hello Gnuplotteers I am using the following code to plot an ascii image file: unset key set size square set tics out set palette gray unset border unset xtics unset ytics unset colorbox plot 'tSNR_file.dat' matrix with image The image lloks fine except for being upside down. How can I flip it? Thank you |

Hi Thomas,
thank u for your answer. With this script gnuplot is 'only' writing the
first xtic label. And i also didn't understand what u have done, can u
explain your script a bit please.
One more question is: Is there also a possibility that gnuplot will display
all others when i zoom in like it is in default done by gnuplot when it sets
the xtics self?
Thanks

use set datafile missing "<string>" and put the string or character (depends on what you have chosen for <string>) at the no-data locations in your datafile. e.g.: set data file missing "?" # x-axis y-axis1 y-axis2 y-axis3 0 1 ? 23 1 3 31 32 2 5 45 3 ? 23 4 ? 49 5 10 12 6 15 7 frank007 wrote: > > Hi i need help, iam having a datafile including multible pairs of data (it > is just one collumn for the x-axis but multiple collumns for y-axis data > using the same x-axis). Thank you ! I tried what you said, and the curve had a too big offset, so I've put c=100. Now it fits good although the values between 25 and 65 are not perfect; I think there is nothing to do. assuming that 'a', 's', and 'z' are the only states, you could read
the y-values in using 'stringcolumn' and test for specific letters:
set yrange [0:4]
set ytics ("a" 1, "s" 2, "z" 3)
plot "datafilename" using
1:(strstrt(stringcolumn(2),"a")?1.0:(strstrt(stringcolumn(2),"s")?2.0:3.0))
with linespoints, "" using
1:(strstrt(stringcolumn(3),"a")?1.0:(strstrt(stringcolumn(3),"s")?2.0:3.0))
with linespoints

your fit parameters are not independent: 'c', which is used to compensate an 'offset', depends on 'a', because a*exp(0) = a*1 which means that 'c+a' should be '116'. you could set 'c' to 116, 'a' and 'b' to some reasonable value (e.g. a=1, b=0.02) and fit 'via a,b', adjust 'c' and fit again. terriblement wrote: > > Hi everybody, > > I have a txt file with some values, and I want to fit a curve with my > values...(see attached file) > > http://old.nabble.com/file/p32115817/test.txt test.txt > > it looks like an exponential function, so I'Ve tried this : > > f(x) = a* exp (b*x) + c > c = 116 > fit f(x) "test.txt" using 1:2 via a,b,c > > and the values are totally wrong :s > I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, if somebody could help me (I'm > noob with gnuplot) > > thanks a lot. > -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/fiting-exponential-does-not-match-tp32115817p32122952.html Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

hi, i am having a hard time to modify the font size for the xlabel in columnstacked histograms. for histogram #8 in this example http://gnuplot.sourceforge.net/demo_4.3/histograms.html what i would like to change is the font and position for "Northern Europe", "Southern Europe",... if i add a 'xlabel' ("Same plot using....) with font set it affect just this part. If i add an offset it takes with it also the labels of the single histogram-parts. How can i get better control over them? thanks!! abalone. -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/xlabel-font-newhistogram-tp32110492p32110492.html Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hi all,
I use the following commands to build the cvs version of gnuplot:
werner@debian:~/gnuplot$ export
CVSROOT=:pserver:ano...@gn...:/cvsroot/gnuplot
werner@debian:~/gnuplot$ cvs login
werner@debian:~/gnuplot$ cvs -z3 checkout gnuplot
werner@debian:~/gnuplot$ cd gnuplot/
werner@debian:~/gnuplot$ ./prepare
werner@debian:~/gnuplot$ ./configure --prefix=/usr --with-readline=gnu
werner@debian:~/gnuplot$ sudo make install
At this step, I meet the following errors:

Dear all, Can anyone tell me that when we used to do some function fit on some data point (stored as a 2 column file) through some constants then after several iterations it is giving final value of those constants with standard error like +/- 0.001264 (2.146 %). What does this error mean, it represents which kind of error (is it showing standard deviation) and what does this percentage and +/- error mean? Thanks |

Without the error lines, that is exactly how I control my line styles
now. I don't know who coded this or when it was introduced (4.2.4?),
but I sure do like it, so a hearty thanks to all our wonderful
developers.

Thank you very much, John.
Using the following code I don't have to specify anything style related
in the plot line.
set style line 1 lw 4 ps 2 pt 5 lc rgb "red"
set style line 2 lw 4 ps 2 pt 7 lc rgb "blue"
set style line 3 lw 4 ps 2 pt 9 lc rgb "orange"
set style line 4 lw 4 ps 2 pt 11 lc rgb "web-green"
set style line 5 lw 4 ps 2 pt 13 lc rgb "purple"
set style line 6 lw 4 ps 2 pt 15 lc rgb "brown"
set style data yerrorlines
set style increment user
Best regards,
Andreas

Andreas,
>From 'help set style line"
"""
Linestyles created by this mechanism do not replace the default linetype
styles; both may be used. If you want plots to use the defined styles in
preference to the default linetypes, please see `set style increment`.
"""
and
"""
gnuplot> help set style increment
Syntax:
set style increment {default|userstyles}
show style increment
By default, successive plots within the same graph will use successive
linetypes from the default set for the current terminal type.
However, choosing `set style increment user` allows you to step through
the user-defined line styles rather than through the default linetypes.
Example:
set style line 1 lw 2 lc rgb "gold"
set style line 2 lw 2 lc rgb "purple"
set style line 4 lw 1 lc rgb "sea-green"
set style increment user
plot f1(x), f2(x), f3(x), f4(x)
"""
That should get you going with your line color issue.

Hello everyone.
I'm plotting data from different data files using the iteration
mechanism. Currently my gnuplot script contains the following code:
set terminal epslatex color solid
set arrow from 0.365,0.2 to 0.365,0.0 # V=5
set arrow from 0.236,0.2 to 0.236,0.0 # V=7
plot [0:0.4] [0:1.1] \
for [V in "0 1 2 3 5 7 "] 'V'.V.'.dat' \
using ($1**(1/3.)):7:8 w yerrorlines lw 3 ps 2
Unfortunately, the V=7 lines has yellow color which is barely visible.
Is there a way to change this lines' color without changing the other
lines?
I already tried `set style line 6 lc rgb "brown"` but this didn't affect
my plot at all. Furthermore, I would like to use filled point styles
only. E.g. filled triangle, circle, square, etc.. How can I specify
different point styles for each plot?
I have another plot which uses iterations, too. However, in that case
the iteration variable contains values like "1e-3". Therefore I'm afraid
I cannot just use the iteration variable to specify the line style in
the plot command.
Some things that came to mind I don't know how to implement, or whether
they are even possible:
Can I iterate an additional counter in the for loop? Something along the
lines of `plot for [V in "0 1 2 ..."; i = 1:6] ... linestyle i`.
Does gnuplot support arrays?
Then I could do `plot for [i = 1:6] files[i] w yerrorlines linestyle i`.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Andreas
