So I noticed that Equalizer APO just started to not start anymore. It still worked (in terms of effects and equilizer), but I wanted to access the DeviceConfigurator and the Editor. However, it suddenly began to not start anymore. I restarted my computer, didn't help, reinstalled the application, didn't help. So now I don't have any audio effects anymore and it still doesn't want to start. When looking in Task Manager, the application immediately exits. It won't create any logs as well. I installed it in a different location and still no luck. I don't have any idea why it suddenly stopped working. I didn't install new drivers separately that may interfere with audio. My only guess would be a Windows update. However, I am still running on Windows 11 24H2 and didn't do a major update to 25H2. I also had and reinstalled the latest version of Equalizer APO. Now, I really don't have any idea anymore what to do to make it work again since I really loved Equalizer APO. I also have HeSuVi installed; however, that is also saying that Equalizer APO just doesn't want to start.
When the Device Selector, Configurator or Configuration Editor don't start it's likely about crashing at startup of these apps. A few things can cause that. Instead of explaining them you might look at my Equalizer APO issues solver here on SourceForge. This app resolves 4 possible issues as briefly explained on its website. Btw. I'm the developer of the popular Peace equalizer and as such I'm also supporting Equalizer APO.
Also note that in principle it isn't about Equalizer APO starting. Its audio engine doesn't need to be started as it's an Audio Processing Object of which the Windows audio service calls its functions. So it isn't a process that runs. But to get this engine onto a device you need at least to be able to start the Device Selector / Configurator so you can do this (which is called "installing Equalizer APO on a device").
Well, thank you. Amazing job with your tool! It solved my problem. Somehow my Windows startup menu had vanished, and your tool recreated it. Everything is working again now. Thanks!
No problem.
After this happened to someone I improved my tool. It's only 14 days ago that I've published it. So it's nice that it solved your problem. However, I don't know why the user startup menu gets removed. That's a mystery still needs solving.
