No

Hey all, does Equalizer APO support Windows Spatial audio (object-based audio on Windows)? Like Dolby Atmos/DTS? As I see only references to static channels up to 7.1 when creating new equalizer presets.

Been trying to understand how both works.

Equalizer APO doesn't have spatial audio. But you could use a VST plugin. As some of these don't work out of the box, usually related to the audio changing engine (equalizerapo.dll) not having access to the license of the used VST plugin, I suggest to browse this forum. Maybe somebody is successfully using a spatial audio VST plugin in Equalizer APO.

Btw. The developer of Equalizer APO isn't very active on this project. In other words, spatial audio/surround sound feature would be implemented soon.

If you can't find a VST plugin you might look (well, listen) at the surround sound effect on the Effects panel of the Peace equalizer. This popular and feature rich interface for Equalizer APO has many things to offer.

I strongly doubt that will work. Equalizer APO will not negotiate a spatial audio format, so it won't receive spatial audio in the first place, let alone pass it to a VST.

You're right of course. I forgot that this has been covered on this forum.

Thanks for that. Looking at the release history, it could be years before any further updates?

Yes, probably. We could expect 1 update per 1 or 2 years. On the other hand, Equalizer APO has already a lot of nice features but I wish someone would develop additional features.

Equalizer APO does not support encoded audio (bitstreaming) in general. You will need the player to decode and render to standard PCM first before Equalizer APO can do anything with it.
