Are you sure SoundMax added support for 'Loudness Equalization' feature? Was the feature there before EqualizerAPO installation?
Which version of Windows and SoundMax chip do you have there?
Have you installed original Soundmax driver/software package or is it just those bundled with Windows installation running there ?

I'm using the driver from the asus motherboard support site, I haven't seen the global normalization option before and after the EqualizerAPO installation

how does it matter in any way? normalization can be software-side, for example I can enable it in AIMP and potplayer, what is holding making a software-side normalization for the input as a whole or at least for fireforx/chrome? I just can't find a tool that would do that.

If your current audio playback system doesn't support this feature (mentioned earlier) then you need to go with routing all audio through some software which supports realtime normalization. Usually Virtual audio cabling (VAC) comes to picture in this case and also you need to find suitable software with realtime normalization feature to get it working. As I don't like of realtime normalization I have no suggestions for software other but VAC ... VB-Audio has few well working VAC software to offer.
Normalization is not supported by E-APO currently. The standard APO from Microsoft seems to support it, however.
You could try to enable Microsoft's APO for your sound device by editing the registry:
Find the registry key of your sound device under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\MMDevices\Audio\Render by looking inside the Properties key. Then, in the FxProperties key, add/replace the following string values:
Valuename
Value
{d04e05a6-594b-4fb6-a80d-01af5eed7d1d},1
{62dc1a93-ae24-464c-a43e-452f824c4250}
{d04e05a6-594b-4fb6-a80d-01af5eed7d1d},2
{637c490d-eee3-4c0a-973f-371958802da2}
{d04e05a6-594b-4fb6-a80d-01af5eed7d1d},3
{5860E1C5-F95C-4a7a-8EC8-8AEF24F379A1}
If you are unsure, you can also send me a registry export and I can change it for you, so you just need to apply it then.

Found my VoiceMeeter entry and added the keys. Opened playback devices, clicked properties for the VoiceMeeter input, the 'Enhancements' tab was now visable. Enabled loudness equalization, hit apply, and then reset the audio engine from within VoiceMeeter.
Here is one to you!

this is years later i know but i alos have lost loudness eq with apo i installed hesuvi and it may help somewhat but i actually had loudmax and reacomp on apo settings but doesnt seem to compress anything even adjusting it like apo is not activating but now i m like screw this id rather just have loudness eq for stuff like games. upon checking the registry method i have no keys under render and also dont have permission to create new keys... any idea what i could do? any help would be appreciated

I guess Equalizer APO isn't installed correctly, usually because some anti-virus app or firewall is blocking the installation. But mentioning not having permission to create keys you might try to run the installer or the Configurator with administrator rights (right click menu -> Run as administrator).
If running Windows 11 there is the option to turn of "Core isolation" but it isn't recommended as it's a security measure. But here's how to do it:
Start menu > Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Device Security -> Core isolation -> Core isolation details -> Turn Off

For 'equalising' sound system-wide, you would need a different product. You need something like Claesson Edwards' Breakaway Audio Enhancer or something similar.

I tryed Jonas Thedering regedit technique and got APO EQ lost its path. At first I thought that THIS method will not work like others and after reinstallingAPO I will lost loudness equialization, but after reinstalling APO and reboot - everything WORKS! APO works, loudness works!
Thanks a lot.

Internet is a funny place, by the way.
After huge microsoft update I, once again, lost loudness equialization. And once again googled it hardly. And once again - tryied search combination "apo equilizer loudness equalization missing", and once again found https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/discussion/general/thread/42094d9d/ link that finaly brings me HERE!
And the last comment - was also mine =)
regedit method still works! I equilized my 5.1 and have loudness controll. Thanks everybody. Once again ;)

Indeed, it sounds a bit weird that this is happening. Perhaps by your reg edits?Although I can't imagine that changing a device name results into an empty list of enhancements. In other word, I don't have a clue.

Quite old audio chip so probably the feature is not supported (most recent drivers/software there are from '09).

Here is one to you!
Is it also possible to use other things than loundness equalization? Using your settings shows this setting, "Low Frequency Protection" and "Room Correction" but Microsofts list much more, like "Environmental Effects" or "Noise Suppression": https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/audio/audio-signal-processing-modes#audio_effects
Hey, I know this is very late but i was wondering if you could edit my registry file and add these options in for me if it isn't too much of a bother.
this is years later i know but i alos have lost loudness eq with apo i installed hesuvi and it may help somewhat but i actually had loudmax and reacomp on apo settings but doesnt seem to compress anything even adjusting it like apo is not activating but now i m like screw this id rather just have loudness eq for stuff like games. upon checking the registry method i have no keys under render and also dont have permission to create new keys... any idea what i could do? any help would be appreciated

Start menu > Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Device Security -> Core isolation -> Core isolation details -> Turn Off
out of these I only have {d04e05a6-594b-4fb6-a80d-01af5eed7d1d},2
with value
{8D580CB3-453A-4a94-A33B-65FE0569AF6B}
Then you can add them manually and replace the value that you already have.
For 'equalising' sound system-wide, you would need a different product. You need something like Claesson Edwards' Breakaway Audio Enhancer or something similar.

hi i tried doing this after not seeing any enhancements but unfortunately under my enhancements tab its just empty. any clues to why that is?
I guess there aren't any sound enhancements on your headset. Not all audio devices have enhancements but usually the Enhancement tab isn't available.
i actually just renamed it headset. There is another sound output device named realtek USB device which outputs to my speakers where i made the reg edits
also showing the same empty dialog box.
