Equalizer APO not working for me

I tried eqing my headphones and my mic today using Equalizer APO but after several attempts, I found out that there was no difference before and after (I put an amp on my microphone and tried to amp it with my voice being recorded, and nothing changed). I did many of the things that were suggested here which includes: uninstalling/reinstalling Equalizer Apo, deleting the registry keys for my headset and mic and restarting, restarting Equalizer, enabling audio enhancements, and so on. The only thing I couldn't do was installing my devices as SFX/EFX, I tried it many times and after hitting "ok," it would prompt me to restart my computer. After restarting I checked Configurator and it would be installed as SFX/MFX again. In other words, I don't know how to get it to download as SFX/EFX. Maybe that is the issue, but I have no idea how to get it as SFX/EFX. If anyone has any idea how on how to get Equalizer to work (or how to download it as SFX/EFX correctly) I would greatly appreciate you post it here.

I guess that your device doesn't have the SFX/EFX mode. Not all audio drivers have this mode (yet) although it's a Windows 10 standard. In your case this means that either GFX/LFX or SFX/MFX should be selected. It even can mean that both are implemented and work. Therefore the issue could lie somewhere else. Or perhaps you need to install a newer or different audio driver. Anyway, have you tried unchecking "Use original APO' checkboxes (and restart)?

I haven't tried that yet, I'll try it right now

Edit: Upon looking at Configurator, the boxes for "Use original APO" are greyed out

That means that the audio driver doesn't have an APO (audio processing object). Therefore it could be that Equalizer APO can't work at all. Are these checkboxes greyed out for the mic also? Are you using a USB headset?

Yes, it is also greyed out for my mic. I'm using a 3.5 mm headset (Fidelio X2HR) and a USB mic (Modmic USB)

What does the right column say about Philips Fidelio X2HR)? Does it say (and stay on) "APO is already installed"? And the same for the AntLion ModMic, what does it say?

There are also the "Exclusive mode" checkboxes on the Advantage tab of the audio panel (see image where to find these, Dutch in my case). Depending on the recording software it will want exclusive usage of the mic. That isn't bad but it may bypass Equalizer APO. Unchecking the exclusive checkboxes prevents this exclusiveness.

Both my headset and mic says "APO is already installed." I don't have allow exclusive usage of device checked, I've tried checking it before to no use.

Should I try checking the box, restarting my computer, and then installing as EFX/SFX?

That could do it but I think it doesn't. Of course restarting after changing a trouble shooting option is always needed.

Unfortunately I'm not sure what to do next. I've used a Devine USB mic on Windows 10 2004 build. This did work fine with Equalizer APO. I haven't tested it on 20H2. This Devine mic doesn't have any software. It depends on the standard Windows USB audio device driver. And I haven't unchecked the "Exclusive mode" checkboxes either (I think).

You are sure on what to do next or not sure? (You wrote "Unfortunately I'm sure what to do next. "

Sorry, about the type. Should be: "not sure". I've corrected it.
