    Hi,
I have trying to get the Dirac Live for Studio VST plugin to work inside Equalizer APO, but I can't seem to reach the instance of the plugin from the control software (Dirac Live) to do a configuration.
Dirac pushes people towards (paying) software like a DAW or JRiver, but that's not what i really want to achieve. I just want the Dirac room correction to rung to run for everything playhing on my desktop computer.
I previously tried Room EQ Wizard, but that is too complex for me I am afraid...
Fyi, you can downlad the Dirac Live for Studio VST as a 14-day trail for free (https://live.dirac.com/pro-audio/
    My system specs: https://nl.icecat.biz/nl/p/hp/g9b06ea/envy-pcs-workstations-700-314nb-23092015.html
+ external soundcard Motu M4 and decent pair of desktop monitor speakers (stereo).
I also own a calibration mic (USB) + calibration file.
Anyone tried this before and could share some insight?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Wim

They provide a PDF how to run it for free and system wide. I'm using this way for months already and it is working perfectly. EQ APO integrates perfectly with VoiceMeeter (see pdf) also.

MAy or may not have to do with it, Other post mentioned that EAPO may not work with older versions on windows, Not to say it can't but thats something you may need to look into.

I have exactly the same issue!

There is no "real support of VST's" at this moment in Equalizer APO. Jonas Thedering is working on better VST support as you can read in this thread: https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/discussion/general/thread/db1fc86b74/

So sad that Dirac dropped their own driver, the previous Windows 10 version of Dirac was perfect because it was "standalone" and not an VST, that version was perfect for system wide room correction. But this version has been discontinued and a new standalone version is not likely to return I understood from Dirac support... Such a pity, because that was the best feature of Dirac for Windows.

So the waiting is on Jonas Thedering to update EAPO with proper VST support but he hasn't given an update in 10 month's about this subject.. Let's hope that he can do it, it would be amazing to have Dirac's VST working for the whole system and with low latency and multichannel in the future when Dirac releases it. The "J-river WDM method" doesn't work at all, this route gives superhigh latency and cracks/pops/noises from time to time and the other route; "VST hosts" are limited to 2 channel max. so with the upcomming multichannel 5.1 Dirac version this isn't an option also. The only thing is indeed the great Equalizer APO.

As I am new to the idea of system wide parametric correction, I do not see anywhere in EqualizerAPO where a VST can be added. Is it possible to use ANY VST plugin? V1.2.1 only shows input and output devices but no indication of VST selection.

So I did manage to get this working with the Dirac VST. Though EAPO says latency is around 1.6 seconds it is MUCH lower than that. I measured it at less than 10ms using 192 buffer size @ 48khz sample rate on ASIO drivers using a Focusrite 18i20. I personally felt it was suitably low enough to monitor a performance being looped into the interface, through EAPO w/ Dirac and back out to the speakers. Truly it works great, and was somewhat straight forward, though there was lots of restarting windows.

There is a trick to get this to work.

The Dirac VST serves two functions. The first is to apply the created filter to your audio stream. The second is to aid in creating the filter when used in conjunction with a secondary program by producing the tones used to measure your system. Where the VST is placed matters quite a bit.

If you attempt to tune the VST inside of EAPO the secondary app will get very angry and will likely not work well enough to do measurements. The key is to host the VST in a proper vst host like a DAW such as FL studio, Ableton even some free standalone VST hosts may work. This allows you to save the filters to the VST. Then when you add your VST to EAPO.

TLDR: Don't host the Dirac VST in EAPO while tuning Dirac, instead use a proper VST host, then load the filter into EAPO after.
