    This isn't a support request as such since everything works, but I feel like a huge outlier and wish to understand.

    For some reason I've always (since Win10) used LFX/GFX without any issues. Now that the configurator started defaulting SFX/EFX was the first time I installed it and it didn't work. SFX/MFX is non-functioning as well, but LFX/GFX works just like with Windows 10.

    Currently I am on Windows 11 Insider beta channel. I'm installing APO to a Xonar DGX PCI-E card, is my system a unicorn or is it because of my sound card that only LFX/GFX works?

    This explains it, I hope:
    LFX/GFX -> Windows Vista, 7, 8 APO technique
    SFX/EFX and SFX/MFX -> Windows 10 and 11

    SFX/EFX seems to work most of the times but "older" audio drivers may still use LFX/GFX. And some Windows 11 updates may use this too. Microsoft reverted back to it as they are still tinkering on Windows 11. Then SFX/EFX or SFX/MFX may start working again in a next update.

    So yes, it may be that the old LFX/GFX is used by Xonar. But by setting this as a default setting many people won't be able to use Equalizer APO on Windows 10 and 11.

    Holy crap, I want to reward you with money or something because you just fixed an issue I've been trying to deal with all day.

    No matter what I did, EQAPO wouldn't work. It worked fine up until yesterday, when I was using FL Studio and it randomly just stopped. All day I was trying to find a fix, and THIS RIGHT HERE SOLVED IT!

      Well, that's good to hear!

      You don't need to reward money. But if you want to donate you could go to the Peace equalizer website here on SourceForge. Peace is a user interface for Equalizer APO. Donating can be done through this app or by clicking on the "Donate" tab on the Peace website.

    Hi,
    In my Windows 11 22H2 works fine when select LFX/GFX.
    I use a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen USB audio interface.

    I changed to LFX/GFX using troubleshooting but I have issues. Do I need to install from scratch? It's not working well for browser. All other apps it's working activating upmix. Thanks!

      What kind of issues? Such as not working in your browser but it's working fine in other apps (meaning you can manipulate the sound)?

        Yes, I can manipulate the sound and other apps like media player and Android emulator are working with upmix on, only the browsers are not, but, if I set upmix way to always the browsers work but it messes up the real 5.1 sounds, center and rear don't work if I set upmix way to always.

          Right, you're talking about the upmix on the Peace effects panel. What happens when using "Detect"? Although using this isn't perfect. Usually one ends up creating an "Upmix" Peace config and switch this one on and off when needed. All done by using the feature of the "Activate by hotkey or system tray" tab of the Automation window.

    The browser use only 2 speakers on "detect" and all on "always". Real 5.1 works well on "detect" but not on "always".
    I tryed this --disable-audio-output-resampler --try-supported-channel-layoutson shortcuts and it worked. Well... so far so good.

      That's amazing. I didn't know that this was a possibility.

      The browsers is probably saying it's 5.1 or 7.1 so "detect" is getting this number (6 or 8) from Equalizer APO (To be specific: inputChannelCount variable) which gets it from Windows, in this case the browser.

        Got it! I think Windows is ruining the sound. Also, in the past, we had batter sound cards and speakers sets for computer. When my 7.1 Creative died I didn't find a good substitute.
        Anyway... my onboard card is able to upmix the channels better with it's own software. I must say Sonic Studio is useless.... the problem is that the Xonar U3 sonds way better than my onboard Realtek.

          But do you have a solution you can live with?

    i need help, i download this, then when I open it I select the devices i want to apply it too. When I try to open configuration editor, it pops up and then right afterwards closes. does anybody know how to fix this? i've tried many things for days and I can't get it to work

      So it crashes at the first time you have opened it? There's a known bug which makes it crash but this bug presents itself after detaching the analysis panel (the graph) from the main editor window. For this there's a solution.

      If the above isn't the case then it might be that some antimalware/firewall app is preventing the startup of the Configuration Editor. However, this same app would prevent the startup of the Configurator too.

      Another possibility is that Equalizer APO isn't installed correctly. Does the folder c:\program files\equalizerapo\config exists and does it have the "config.txt" file?

    Hello, poor people who need help with EqualizerApo, you can call me Lao Hua, or the "Wise Flower" if you like it more.

    So, likely settings are:
    Bluetooth device: LFX/GFX, since most of the drivers are from 2006th year, very-very old.
    Plug-in device (If you're basic user): SFX/MFX, since most of the drivers are 2015+;
    Plug-in device (If you know what you're doing (Master)): SFX/EFX.

    Difference between MFX and EFX is what MFX goes before last Mixer, and EFX goes after last mixer, so if you don't know what you're doing, with EFX you can damage your audio device.

    Better if you check your driver version using Windows/Driver Updater tool, if Drivers are before 2013-2015 - Use LFX/GFX, if after - SFX/MFX (SFX/EFX);

    Remove ANY app which can control your driver (Like Realtek HD Audio Manager).
    Add shortcut of Peace (GUI for EqualizerApo) (If you use it) to shell:startup (Win+r); Click on green human, add your preset into "Always use it" category (Click on preset, then arrow); Go to settings of Peace, System Tray -> Load without showing, load in tray, hide in tray on exit;

    Now everything should work just fine, you're on laptop? SFX/MFX will load, equalizer should work; Attached bluetooth Headphones? LFX/GFX loads, equalizer also works.
