Hello, I have started using an “ELITEMINI UM890 PRO” with WIN11PRO. As soon as I have configured the playback devices with the “Equalizer APO Device Selector,” no sound comes from the playback devices. No MP3 files are played because no playback device is recognized. I then have to uninstall the playback device drivers and restart Windows for the playback devices to work again.
What could be causing the Equalizer APO not to work on the ELITEMINI?
Many thanks.

It could that the EliteMini has an own APO (Audio Processing Object, read sound enhancement/effect). If so, this APO and Equalizer APO aren't working well together. Did the EliteMini come with its own app?
Perhaps try the unchecked "Use original APO" check boxes. Those can be found in the troubleshooting options for the UM890 Pro in the Device Selector.

Thanks! The tip to uncheck the ‘Use original APO’ checkboxes was not successful. The APO installation fails (see below).
After that, the device is no longer recognised and cannot be used (then: uninstall the driver, restart, then the device works again, but without Equalizer APO).
That's a good question whether the Elitemini comes with its own app. I haven't found one. The initial delivery only included the following drivers: High Definition Audio Device and Realtek (R) Audio. Unfortunately, I don't know where to look.

Ah, I see that the Elitemini UM980 Pro is a mini PC. I thought it was the actual audio device but your Jabra Evolve2 65 is. Sorry, about that.
So none of the audio devices on this mini PC is working after installing Equalizer APO on them. So Equalizer APO isn't working on the standard 3.5 mm output jack? This output device is usually a Realtek one for which there's usually no problem.
Looking at the Device Selector test it seems to detect that the Windows APO technique called SFX/MFX is working on Evolve2. But if the sound is dead that suggest thats the APO (read sound effect/enhancement) of the Evolve2 is conflicting with the APO of Equalizer APO. Did you need to install software for the Evolve2? If so, are you using the effects/enhancements this software provides?

Exactly. None of the audio devices on the mini PC work anymore once Equalizer APO has been installed. This applies to every audio device, both on the 3.5 mm output jack and via Bluetooth.
I have not installed any software on the mini PC for the Jabra Evolve2 65 or the Zipp speakers.
The same devices worked fine with Equalizer APO and PEACE on my ACER notebook.
As a workaround, I am now using the equalizers that came with the playback software (e.g. musicbee or Spotify – but the Spotify equalizer is terrible).
Thank you for your help.

On this forum I've seen someone who had difficulties with Equalizer APO on Windows 11 Pro. I think that Microsoft has implemented the audio processing objects architecture in the Pro version but maybe there are issues? Unfortunately I don't know if the developer of Equalizer APO has commented on this.
Just my thoughts. Perhaps it's a security issue. Equalizer APO can be seen as a kind of hack. It isn't insecure but Windows Pro might limit software a bit more. And perhaps there are Windows settings to make it a bit more lenient.
