Hello David,
If there is still a problem with timeouts with http transport.
There is a configuration file in Tomcat in conf directory server.xml
In section Connector, attribute connectionTimeout in seconds. If there
is not the attribute default value is used.
<Connector className="org.apache.catalina.connector.http.HttpConnector"
port="19998" minProcessors="10" maxProcessors="200"
enableLookups="true" redirectPort="8447"
acceptCount="10" debug="0" connectionTimeout="1800000"/>
PS
We use hermes for large payloads too.

Hello all, Even though I have to admit that I was not very active on this list during the last month, my enterprise (and me) were busy in adopting Hermes as our ebXML MSH solution for a product using this facility. However, as we are working in a sort of "conservative" market when it comes to open source, and are also confronted with competitors who (of course) try to sell their own commercial ebXML MSHs, I have to prepare arguments in favor of open standards and ebXML interoperability in general and may be also in favor of the hermes solution. Does anybody have knowledge of - "success stories" when it comes to ebXML interoperability in general, especially live projects, where different ebXML MSHs are happily working together? (Hermes doesn't necessarily be involved) - "success stories" of Hermes itself communicating with MSHs of other vendors, especially live projects? Furthermore - what are "typical issues" or what issues could you imagine, when it comes to trying to plug together two MSHs of different vendors? Special thanks to Patrick Yee, who already helped me a lot with this (Hi, Patrick!). And thank you all a lot in advance, Martin. |

There are two kinds of MessageError messages. First, sent by a MSH to another MSH. For example, digital signagture verification error. Second, sent by Hermes to its client. For example, Ack is not received and failed delivery. You will only find the record in RDBMS for first category only. For the second category, Hermes is just "borrowing" the message format to report some error not in ebMS spec. Thanks, I have already downloaded and read the Dangerous Goods PDF, it does help a bit, but the sample code is missing exactly the vital pieces in the puzzle, how to get things up and running... You are right. You can make it up and running just with hermes and loopback or a monitor application both are part of hermes library. You can test some features manually this way. So for example you can open monitor application and create specific message by the UI and attach some file and send it to the other ebXML installation. The Webswell Broker is a digger and monitor is rather shovel. Both can do good job but depends on your task. Hi! Thank you, I'll look into that. But is it really necessary to incorporate yet another component to get this working? Isn't it possible to do it without using a registry repository? Hello Narcus, You can use Webswell Broker it reads CPA's from Registry/Repository and creates requests for local hermes. The most recent version is in CVS You can find some info how it all fits together here http://www.webswell.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=17&Itemid=62 Here is the broker http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/webswell/webswellbroker/ Have a good one Ladislav On Wed, 2005-10-26 at 02:36 -0700, narcus sucran wrote: > Hi everyone! > > I'm trying to get started with ebxml and Hermes, I got > everything set up correctly and able to run the > Loopback sample. > > However, I'm having a bit of hard time getting > further. Hi everyone! I'm trying to get started with ebxml and Hermes, I got everything set up correctly and able to run the Loopback sample. However, I'm having a bit of hard time getting further. I've been searching the web in vain for some kind of code samples and tutorials, but all I can find are presentation slides and such. I'm getting the feeling there is som kind of "Secret order of ebxml" out there, reluctant to share their hard-earned skills :) I know I really should read through the thousands of pages of ebxml specs, but I'm kinda pressed for time here, and I'm hoping to get to the next step without having to read through it all. Of course, I do know the basics of how it works (I think). I've set up two MSHs: "http://hermes1:8080/msh/" and "http://hermes2:8080/msh/" as a test environment. What I would like to do is to have two client apps, "ClientApp1" (running on the same machine as hermes1) and "ClientApp2" (running on the the same machine as hermes2) I know it's a lot to ask, but would anyone be so kind to bless me with a mockup sample for these two client apps? Something like ClientApp1 sending a simple message to ClientApp2, which then responds back to ClientApp1, kind of like an echo request and response. If you have any links to code samples I'd appreciate that a lot too! Thank you, regards narcus __________________________________ Yahoo! Hi, thanks for replying. I'm running the LoopBack sample against localhost and no other server is involved. However, I tried to add a trailing slash to the url in LoopBack.java, so it is now: String toMshUrl = "http://localhost:8080/msh/"; At least now I can get the message to show up in the monitor. Is this correct or am I doing something seriously wrong here? --- "R. van Kuijk (Ronald)" <rva...@ad...> wrote: > Probably from a wrong response from another server. > Can you sniff > network traffic and see what is send? > > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: ebx...@li... > [mailto:ebx...@li...] > Namens narcus > sucran > Verzonden: vrijdag 14 oktober 2005 10:44 > Aan: ebx...@li... > Onderwerp: [ebxmlms-general] LoopBack sample problem > > Hi! > > I'm trying to test this with the LoopBack sample on > my > Tomcat5, hermes is alive and everything seems fine, > however, I get this error in the msh.log: > > [10505] Cannot send SOAP message > Exception: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException > Message: org.xml.sax.SAXException: Bad envelope tag: > html > > Where does this html tag come from? > Please help? > > > > > __________________________________ > Yahoo! Do you really need to load balance hermes? In our experience, it will break from an operational support perspective long before you can overrun a single machine running tomcat... We restart our production hermes almost daily to keep it delivering messages - and it is barely handling 1000 messages a week. |

Another issue is that, currently Hermes is designed to reload the unsent messages in the queue and send it again when startup. So, it may need some modification on the startup logic in Hermes to make sure there will not be more than one Hermes instances who pick up the same message in the queue. I can find c_action "Order" and "Acknowledgement", but not something like "MessageError" in messageinfo and messagestore. Can I identify error messages in RDBMS? Also I can't find error messages in sentmessages and receivedmessages when acknowledgement is not received or failed delivery. Any one has any idea on this? |

Hello hermes developers,
We did have and issue related to the length of the DB field
ATTRIBUTE_REMOTE_HOST in hermes database. We use sub domains in our
project. It means that total length of host name is longer than 32
characters. We fixed the problem by expansion to 127 characters
Is it possible to expand it in CVS of hermes?
private static final DbColumn COLUMN_REMOTE_HOST =
new DbColumn(ATTRIBUTE_REMOTE_HOST, Types.VARCHAR, 32, false);
in the class DbTableManager
Thanx a lot

Yes, the file system object goes out of sync with the Hermes database. That is the explanation I got previously too. But question is why? When exactly does it go out of sync? What causes it? We could never figure out the pattern. Does it happen when the server is killed suddenly while it is in the middle of writing an object ? If we could know the patter or the root cause then we could try to avoid that action. This has been causing much trouble for us and our client. I will truly appreciate any help on this matter. -- Ashique _____ From: Ted [mailto:ts...@fr...] Sent: Wed 10/12/2005 11:10 PM To: ebx...@li...
