I couldn't find the source for the loopback test. There is only the corvus-loopback-test.jar file in the binary zip file. Also where could I get a sample of a partnership xml file to be used for setting up partnerships? |

Hello all, Just in case anybody is interested, please have a look at the latest press release directly on the welcome page of my companies website http://www.enerbility.com/. This is - beside other achievements - also a "success story" for the interoperability of Hermes 1 when used to communicate with third party ebXML MSHs. Best regards, Martin. |

Dear Wahid and David, Hermes is and will continue to be Java-based for the time being. In fact, when H2 is designed, we put in the web services support at client interface, so that enabling writing H2 clients with .NET. Porting the whole Hermes server to .NET platform is possible, but in that case, we will be in fact maintaining two products -- with similar functionalities. That's quite an impact to our resource and direction... David, That's the other question I was going to ask actually. We are using Apache and TomCat but would infact like to move to MS IIS, because some of our client machines act as web servers for asp.net, so having both Tomcat and MS IIS on the same machine can lead to a few issues. That's one of the main reasons why I would like Hermes to be .net compatible so we could go down the Microsoft route (whether that's a good thing or not is another issue altogether). What would recommend we do in order to get Hermes working with IIS only? Or does Hermes really go down the Java route all the way? Thanks, Wahid _____ From: David RR Webber (XML) [mailto:da...@dr...] Sent: 01 February 2006 16:49 To: ebx...@li... Cc: 'ebx...@li...' Subject: RE: [ebxmlms-general] Hermes 2 .net? I notice that Hong Kong and Microsoft are teamed for project using RFID - maybe a C# port is something Microsoft itself might support in future... but obviously this is work - maintaining two code bases and functional sets. Then again - what are you doing for Apache and TomCat - are you using .NET equivalents of those already? DW -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: [ebxmlms-general] Hermes 2 .net? enerbility Integrated CECID's Hermes for European Energy Trading HONG KONG / VIENNA, January 13, 2006: The Center for E-Commerce=20 Infrastructure Development (CECID) of the University of Hong Kong (HKU)=20 and enerbility software gmbh of Vienna, Austria, are pleased to announce=20 that the open source ebXML message service handler, Hermes, has been=20 integrated in the electronic confirmation matching system enerbility 2.0. enerbility 2.0 is the second generation of an ECM-system developed for=20 the over-the-counter trading in the European energy industry. It is in=20 use at major energy trading companies in Europe like E.ON, ATEL,=20 Statkraft and APT. enerbility focuses on the integration of best-of-breed third-party=20 components into and around its transactional XML exchange and processing=20 technology. To comply with the industry demand for ebXML, enerbility=20 went for Hermes. In the selection process almost all available ebXML=20 products have been evaluated and a selected subset has been tested. Martin Schimak, the engineer evaluating the products, states: "In our=20 evaluation process, we've considered all relevant aspects to find the=20 best product concerning cost-performance ratio. We chose Hermes and are=20 very satisfied with its stability and performance." Hannes Stiebitzhofer, CEO of enerbility software gmbh, adds: "The=20 reliability of Hermes - besides its ebXML MS 2.0 compliance as tested by=20 ebXML Asia Committee - is a perfect complement to enerbility, running=20 without any incidents for months." CECID is happy about Hermes=92 first production use in the European energ= y=20 trading market. =93This is very encouraging to all of us. enerbility has=20 demonstrated the use of Hermes in a =91raw material=92 supply chain. With= out=20 the support of our funding agency, the Innovation and Technology=20 Commission of Hong Kong, we couldn=92t have developed Hermes. On the othe= r=20 hand, today=92s Hermes is also the result of contribution by developers i= n=20 the open-source community around the world. I=92m very pleased to see=20 Hermes being chosen as the messaging gateway to facilitate the energy=20 sector,=94 says Dr. David Cheung, Director of CECID. Thomas Lee, CTO of CECID, also responds positively to enerbility=92s=20 decision. =93enerbility is an innovative and fast-moving company. We are=20 proud that Hermes, an open-source project that has been downloaded by=20 80+ economies, is able to meet enerbility=92s stringent requirements for=20 performance and scalability in terms of handling a large number of=20 messages reliably and securely.=94 About enerbility software gmbh (www.enerbility.com) enerbility software gmbh is a dynamic flexible Vienna-based company=20 which emerged from a pilot project for the development of an Electronic=20 Confirmation Matching Systems (ECM) based on the EFET (European=20 Federation of Energy Traders) Standard. enerbility software gmbh was=20 founded in Spring 2004 and is focused on software development and=20 consultancy for the energy sector. About CECID (www.cecid.hku.hk) Established in January 2002, the Center for E-Commerce Infrastructure=20 Development (CECID) at the University of Hong Kong conducts e-commerce=20 research and development with the vision of helping organizations=20 increase their competitiveness in the global economy. CECID develops=20 e-commerce enabling technologies, participates in important=20 international e-commerce initiatives, supports e-commerce=20 standardization for Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific Region, and transfers=20 e-commerce technology and skills to the community. With projects=20 primarily funded by the Hong Kong Government's Innovation and Technology=20 Commission, CECID is an active member of OASIS and the ebXML Asia=20 Committee. The Center also collaborates with a number of lead technology=20 users in the Asia-Pacific Region on turning R&D results into real-life=20 business applications. CECID's contributions to the community include=20 its code donation of Hermes and ebMail to freebXML=20 (http://www.freebxml.org) and the production of an in-depth design and=20 management guide on XML Schemas for the Hong Kong Government. Yes you are right but in this case because I use these setXXX methods in
simple automatic translater code. I try to avoid situation in which the
set methods raise exceptions. So this can recognize null value of role
in most cases. In special cases the code will raise exception as before.

Hello folks, I understand that the release of Hermes 2 might stir up some concerns on the further development of Hermes 1. Therefore, I think it might be good for me to explain the position of the Center for E-Commerce Infrastructure Development (CECID) of the University of Hong Kong here. As a background, Hermes 2 is a complete rewrite over Hermes 1, after absorbing the deployment experience of of its ancestor. The main objective to be achieved by Hermes 2 is to design a platform which is capable to support multiple messaging protocols through installation of different plugins to the main server. Up to this moment, we have two plugins, supporting ebXML messaging services as well as AS2. With that in mind, the APIs of Hermes 2 are not designed to be backward compatible to Hermes 1. However in terms of ebXML messaging services, the functional features of Hermes 2 do not make any difference from its ancestor. Therefore, we expect the existing Hermes 1 users and developers can stick with Hermes 1 if the functional requirement of their projects has not changed. As you might have noticed, both the distribution platform and license of Hermes 2 has been changed. We no longer put the source code of Hermes 2 in the CVS of SourceForge. Instead, the source code can be downloaded from the web site of CECID. Our idea is that the Hermes 2 would not be maintained by the community for the time being. On the other hand, we can see that Hermes 1 is gradually shifting from the mode which the code is maintained by CECID, to the mode which the code is maintained by the community. So from the maintenance point of view, the positions of Hermes 1 and Hermes 2 are different. Anyway, CECID does *not* intend to hide the source code of both Hermes 1 and 2 from the public. They are both available, only on different servers. We have also changed the license of Hermes 2 to GPL, which we think is most suited for the long term development of our center. Please note that the license of Hermes 1 is still AFL. Therefore, the ebXML community will have their chances to choose the appropriate version based on their situations. If there exists a user who must use Hermes 2 but does not want to be bound by GPL, please let us know and I am sure we can work out a solution accordingly. I do hope that the above can let everybody understand more on the position of CECID, HKU. We welcome all comments and suggestions, so please feel free to share your thoughts. Many thanks for your continual support! Happy new year! Hi ebxmlms-general list
>From the ebMS2.0 specification:
<element name="To">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<element ref="tns:PartyId" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
<element name="Role" type="tns:non-empty-string" minOccurs="0"/>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
So the Role element is optional but if present it cannot be empty.
If you put a "dummy" role value the receiving MSH might not accept the message
because it cannot verify the "dummy" role in its partnership info or
CPA.
Hope this helps.
