Hi, Read the thread about "MSH and ClientWebApp on same server". You probably ran into this bug/design flaw in SAAJ as well. Hi, What version of Hermes are you using? The latest source tree in CVS? I have met that error messages once in the past, but I am not sure whether we are hitting the same problem or not. It happened when I tried to deploy an old version of Hermes to Weblogic. The class loader of Weblogic is a bit too smart. We suspect msh.jar is loaded before the SAAJ ones. And at that time, we have some initialization work done in the static initializers, which will load the MessageFactory in SAAJ. Somehow the static initializer is called before SAAJ is loaded and we suspect that triggers the error and results in that error message. When we removed the static initializers, the error gone. The latest source should have the static initializers removed. So, that's why I ask the question in the top of this mail. But at least, this can serve as an information for further tracing. :-) Regards, -Patrick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jason van Zyl" <ja...@ma...> To: <ebx...@li...> Sent: Friday, March 14, 2003 11:24 AM Subject: [ebxmlms-develop] (no subject) > Hi, > > I'm trying the route of embedded server that Patrick outlined here: > > http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=1535909&forum_id=1267 0 > > I'm getting an error and was wondering if there is a known cause for the > problem below? Hi, My immediate thought is: this will not be much simpler than using servlet container. We have to implement/use a HTTP server. In which the HTTP post data are received and then we should pass it to the MessageServiceHandler instance. Currently, the entry point at MessageServiceHandler is doPost(), which takes HttpServletRequest as argument. That means we have to implement a HttpServletRequest to encapsulate the HTTP post data. How can this be improved? Abandon doPost()? In that case, we may need to design another entry point to accept incoming messages. Do you have any suggestion? Yes, this is proven. We have tried to deploy multiple MSH instances in one Tomcat using this approach. Hi, I'm trying the route of embedded server that Patrick outlined here: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=1535909&forum_id=12670 I'm getting an error and was wondering if there is a known cause for the problem below? All the JAR files are definitely present. I took a quick browse at the SAAJ sources and MessageFactory.newInstance() uses the context classloader and the context classloader contains the JAR with the MessageFactoryImpl within it. [error] tpi: org.zenplex.tambora.tpi.Tpi@13981b Info: using property file in /home/jvanzyl/js/org.zenplex/tambora-3/target/runtime/conf/msh.properties.xml hk.hku.cecid.phoenix.message.handler.MessageServiceHandlerException: Default message factory cannot be instantiated. Hi, It's been a while but I'm back at the ebxml goodies. I posted a question about by passing the stub and essentially embedding the server in my application and I wanted to go further with this. Would there be a simple way to exclusively use this embedded server and by pass servlets and the use of a servlet container. I realize I might have to use a small http server but I would rather do that than need a servlet container. -- jvz. Hello,
> As an aside, what's the difference between 4.1.18 and 4.1.18 LE, besides
> the LE version having a few less jars?
Tomcat full version includes its own Xerces parser, activation.jar
(JAF), mail.jar (JavaMail), etc. in common/lib and common/endorsed whose
versions may be different from (and may conflict with) those provided in
webapps/*/WEB-INF/lib of MSH. Since JDK 1.4 has its Xerces parser already,
LE version need not bundle a set of libraries in common/lib or common/endorsed.
You just need to patch xalan.jar in this case.

Hi Gait, Yes this is a bug. Thanks for pointing this out. And we have committed the fix. Basically, we treat it in the same way as other restricted characters for file names. You know, we try best to indicate the app context by the directory names. However, if there are restricted characters in app context, we are forced to generate a "safe" name. :-) Regards, -Patrick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gait Boxman" <gai...@ti...> To: <ebx...@li...> Sent: Monday, March 10, 2003 08:57 PM Subject: Re: [ebxmlms-develop] Asterisks and (Client)MessageListenerImpl > Hi Patrick, > > Try specifying null as the MessageListener argument to the Request > constructor, and app context (*,*,*,*). Hi Patrick, Try specifying null as the MessageListener argument to the Request constructor, and app context (*,*,*,*). That is how we got the error. Request will setup a default MessageListener, i.e. a ClientMessageListenerImpl. This will be constructed from a file URL like file://tmp/ebxmlms/request/messageListener/*.*.*.* That's where the problem is I think. Originally I thought findUniqueFilename was called , but looking closer at getDefaultMessageListener, it probably is not. The request is constructed nicely, only when a message comes in the error hits since the filename is invalid. thnx, Gait. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patrick Yee" <kc...@ce...> To: <ebx...@li...> Sent: Monday, March 10, 2003 12:33 PM Subject: Re: [ebxmlms-develop] Asterisks and (Client)MessageListenerImpl > Hi Gait, > > I cannot repeat what you described. Hi Gait, I cannot repeat what you described. Basically, I was modifying the Monitor to make it to use ClientMessageListenerImpl instead of using its own implementation. I specified a directory path as the constructor argument of ClientMessageListenerImpl. Then I started the Monitor and registered the app context to be (*, *, *, *). And then I sent a loopback message. Expectedly, the message can be found correctly in the directory I specified before. So, can you please give us more details about your problem, so that we can continue to investigate. Thanks. Hi Patrick, we hit a caveat on the asterisk use this week. The (Client)MessageListenerImpl, which is used if you don't supply your own listener, won't accept it since it builds a filename out of the parameters, which cannot contain asterisks. We had a similar problem with filenames on the client side, and decided to simple Base64 encode the filename, which has worked without trouble so far. Maybe an idea to slip in to DirectoryManager? --Gait. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patrick Yee" <kc...@ce...> To: <ebx...@li...> Sent: Friday, March 07, 2003 3:13 AM Subject: Re: [ebxmlms-general] Help please i'm rooky > Hi, > > The (CPAid, Service, Action, ConversationID) tuple is what we call > application context. In the monitoring example application come with distribute package, I try to test Herms ebms with starting two apache tomcat and deploy two Herms ebms seperately and I try to send message togather. the result is if the two ebms has the same parameters (CPAid,Service,Action,ConversationID),it's working properly but if it use difference parameters just only one parameter such as ConversationID, the result is failed and have an error message back to the sender. Why? Maybe i missed some point because i think sender create message to receiver thus sender should be create the ConversationID thus how receiver know the conversionID that useing for registering to Herms ebms server. Thank you very much Panu K. T.N. Information Systems |

You're right. If tomcat is perfect, each webapp can have its own
set of .jar without patching any file in common/endorsed. If one uses
tomcat 4.1.x LE, he just needs to patch xalan.jar only while xerces.jar,
mail.jar and activation.jar in each webapp can still be loaded correctly.
Maybe we have to consider how to incorporate the patch in
build.xml by detecting whether one uses tomcat 4.0.x/4.1.x and full/LE
version.

Hi again, It seems that I have the answer to my own question. :) Tomcat 4.1.18 has a xerces and xalan in different versions than ebxmlms. They are located at <tomcat>/common/endorsed directory. Maybe the team should consider that for the next release. Meanwhile, to solve the problem copy the 3 files from the endorsed directory to <tomcat>/webapps/msh/WEB-INF/lib and restart tomcat (you might have to remove the msh.war from webapps).
