Hi, I have got everything working in Hermes (I think) except for a working listener!!!! I have been using the example code provided in the documentation and it all works.... However when an incoming messages comes through it gets put into the correct location (message repository location) and I can physically see the new file.... The problem I am getting is that the code I am running doesn't seem to know a message has arrived therefore the "onMessage" method does not get invoked!! When Im sending messages through code I am connecting to Hermes: http://10.143.84.130:8080/MSH (local machine) Messages that are sent to me come down the following channel: https://10.143.84.130:443/MSH <https://10.143.84.130/MSH> Could it be that the message listener will only listen on port 8080 and not 443? If so then how can I send my messages connecting to port 443 because I get an error: java.io.IOException: HTTPS hostname wrong: should be <10.143.84.130> Any help would be appreciated as I am really confused (again)!! Thanks Wahid |

Hi Ian, on inbound, Hermes doesn't really look at the from/to as far as I remember. When a message arrives on the MSH, the conversationid, service, action and cpaid identify the mailbox where the message gets dropped and your listener picks it up from there. On outbound, you specify the MSH URL on the request as well, and again Hermes doesn't really look at the values. Only when Hermes sends an automatic reply, such as an ack or error message, Hermes looks at the from partyid's and tries to resolve an address from the list. The first URL or mailto in the list will be used. I have an addres resolver extension to Hermes so that I can change the behaviour (sometimes error messages need to go somewhere else..). ebMS is strictly point-to-point. No way to broadcast or use lists. If you want distr. lists. you'll need to implement a repeater client in Hermes. ian tabangay wrote: >Hi Ronald. >Looking at hermes's code it only keeps the first element listed under the ToPartyId and the FromPartyId... which is expected if the ebxml specs did mention that all elements listed in either ToPartyId and FromPartyId must refer to only a single organization. >This is the first time I have handled EBXML messages and my boss is determined to implement this feature. Hi Ronald. I was thinking of adding an element within the header that would contain the list of recipients but Im not sure what would be the impact of this as far as EBXML messaging is concerned. Thanks. Why do you need to able to change it? From an interoperability test [1]: The SOAPAction value must be "ebXML" with the quotation marks ebMS version 2 recommends the value of the HTTP header SOAPAction be =93ebXML,=94 but does not explicitly require that value must be surrounde= d by double quotes. [1] http://www.ebusinessready.org/ebMS-3Q04%20Final%20Report%201.19.05.pd= f So yes, it is a recommendation, not a requirement. But it's better to be = safe then to be sorry. If another system says it is ebMS2.0 compliant and they *require another* so= apaction, I'd try to persuade them to change it. I have tried to change the constants in the EBXMLMessage class but with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Wahid |

On the other hand, a namespace declaration isn't *really* an attribute. XML parsers tend to place the namespace declaration as they see fit, depending on where the namespace is used. So the same XML document can look somewhat different, depending on what XML implementation serialized it. |

Mattias, I don't think I want to change my XML implementation as its strictly defined from another party. I have noticed that Hermes gives the ability to add attributes to the MessageHeader but I can't find a way of adding or modifying attributes of the Envelope section. Thanks -----Original Message----- From: Wahid Muhammad Sent: 28 June 2005 17:18 To: 'ebx...@li...' Subject: Changing SOAP Header attributes Hi, How can I get the name space of the message header to be declared before the schema reference? i.e. At the moment Hermes defaults the SOAP header as: <soap-env:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xsi:schemaLocation="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/ http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/envelope.xsd"> <soap-env:Header xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/ms g-header-2_0.xsd http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/msg-header-2_0.xsd"> <eb:MessageHeader xmlns:eb="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/msg-header-2 _0.xsd" soap-env:mustUnderstand="1" eb:version="2.0"> However I want to get the part: xmlns:eb="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/msg-header-2 _0.xsd" to be declared in the SOAP Envelope and not in the MessageHeader, so the Envelope would look like this: <soap-env:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xmlns:eb="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/msg-header-2 _0.xsd" xsi:schemaLocation="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/ http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/envelope.xsd"> <soap-env:Header xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/ms g-header-2_0.xsd http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/msg-header-2_0.xsd"> <eb:MessageHeader soap-env:mustUnderstand="1" eb:version="2.0"> Thanks Wahid |

Doesn't the XML parser of the recipient system handle this for you? If you want this to work differently, I think it's more of an XML implementation issue than a Hermes issue. Try using a different XML implementation, or look for settings of the XML implementation in use. (For example, we use Rein XML which is part of Caucho Resin) |
